Frequent freezing and recovering

Random about when it happens but it is happening a lot.
Game freezes/locks up. Blue spinning cirlce and windows reports as program not responding with option to wait or close.
Wait more often then not, game come back with some stuttering then back to normal.
A couple of times, game eventually closes itself.
Worse than what it was in closed beta.

Having the exact same issue. Running around killing monsters it runs perfectly. The moment I interact with an NPC, chest or even equip an item the game freezes for 30+ seconds. Never had this issue during the closed beta.

Seems to happen to me most often when UI elements are brought up/interacted with, such as when clicking on a dungeon entrance, or clicking on a note, changing areas, or talking to an NPC. Though sometimes the freeze seems to be caused by nothing. Can last up to a minute at a time.

No other performance issues. Just really long freezes.

Well I ended up dropping most of the gfx settings to low and diabled all the extras.
Not had a problem since. If I get bored I might try to test and find out what is doing it.

Maybe it is time for a GPU upgrade…

I have a soloution that fixed mine guys! i hope it works for you guys!

I searched for Hours and hours, trying SO many different ways to get it to stop freezing for 30+ seconds when opening menu’s and talking to new NPC’s

I did not have the extra texture pack installed with the game as i wanted to play the game as soon as i could without the extra download time.

2 things:

1: In diablo IV on battlenet click the cog next to play and modify install, then check (high-Resolution Assets) and confirm, should download 30+GB of textures

2: When the game is launched, i went into task manager, right clicked the game and set to high priority, this step might not be the thing that got it to work, But its what steps i took.

Hope this helps guys

Fixed it for me too! Thank you very much for the tip mate!

I was having the exact issue as this and dug into it a little.
The FenrisDebug.txt showed some cURL commands timing out whenever the game slowed down, so I ran wireshark to see what it was trying to download. Every time the game slowed down it was trying to download multiple, sometimes up to like 20 files like this level3. blizzard. com /tpr/fenris/data/54/4d/544d4df27e659bef1b0221e2d67cad2d, all of which were exactly 256MB. Turns out (at least for me) the slow downs were it downloading several GB of data, which I have to assume were high res assets as I haven’t had a single issue since installing them like McMalliss suggested.
At a loss for words, but thanks McMalliss for the solution <3

random game freeze occurring !!
while the screen freeze, the game still running, audio still working fine, can still fight & kill mob while screen freeze
need to alt + tab for it to back to normal
it’s sad that, only occur on 35 inch 100hz monitor, screen freeze does no occur while playing in 24 inch 240hz monitor
set D4 priority to high in task manager does not help >.<

Same thing all the time IN FULL SCREEN only. If I switch to Windowed (sic?) mode, the problem is gone… But that mode has its own sleuth of issues…

I have the same problem since i started playing june 6th…

Did you get it fixed? Died in HC because of it

It’s not fixed at all. It becomes very difficult to enjoy the game like this.

Also having this problem. Random, can be .5 seconds, could be a few seconds, always recovers. Rarely during battle, but it has gotten me killed at least twice so far. I’m not quite sure what’s happening. Ryzen 5900x, RX 6800xt, 32gb RAM
