Frenzy Damage Reduction

Hey all. Just a quick ‘how it feels to play frenzy’.

Very excited for the unique changes coming to Battle Trance, especially since it provides so much attack speed to other skills while allowing us to stack the damage reduction option Combat Frenzy.

Regular frenzy, full stacks, provides 24% DR which is awesome, with Battle Trance we get to 40%DR. This is amazing.

Sort of.

Today, I got knocked back by a boss and my DR stacks dropped, next hit one shotted me (especially since it seems the stacks build off of CASTS not hits (frenzy hits twice but the stack only goes up one at a time)).

I got CC’d later - frozen - which is already a terrible spot to be in. DR stacks drop. And, you guessed it, one shotted.

I’d love it if the whole buff could last even half a second longer.

If not, the DR buff lasting 1-2 seconds after the attack speeds drops off would be an incredible QoL change.

As it stands now, as a frenzy non-meta barb, the beginning, transitions, and recovery portions of fights are super scary (which, in a game as fast as D4, is a large majority of fight time).

Also, can we get clarification on Berserk Ripping not working?

Yep. This is why ive been telling people that the amulet is largely useless. The stacks are on too short a duration and since they are larger (5 over 3) you spend more time using frenzy than needed to keep them up which results in a dps loss.

It only feels good with arsenal which is already subpar compared to unbridled rage. Battle trance will feel nice to get while leveling up as an arsenal build but ultimately its just not good late game where the barb’s biggest problem is their lack of damage, not survivability.

Yeah I never got in in pre season and was so excited to have it drop a few days ago; kept stubbornly trying to make it work, but just a few minutes ago the butcher did his weird run away/around me thing for a few seconds, stacks dropped, and next hit one shots me. Supper disappointing as I love the idea of a crazy hopped-up Viking berserker buzz sawing everything!

They need to double or triple the stack duration, include an aspect that adds multiplicative or bonus damage per stack, incorporate movement speed per stack, and the stacks should fall off one at a time, not all at once.

mobs do so much damage that seems to bypass Dr, like poison, lighting, and flame malarkey, that I don’t think the Dr is even working.

Noticed the same when I found battle trance. The idea of the item is good, but the time required to get the stacks vs the falloff just makes it fairly pointless. Just like the flawless technique legendary node in paragon.

Take the code from D3’s Bane of the Stricken and add it to Battle Trance.

Still surprise the unique doesn’t add more time or maybe just make it so stacks decay over time instead of going away completely.

I’ve been using the frenzy amulet since T1 and I think it’s great. When they replace basic attack % with CDR it’ll be even better, and the buff to other skill attack speed is awesome

This one amulet takes care of basic attack speed, replaces accelerating aspect and gives me enough extra DR to replace a DR aspect too. Completely undervalued
