Game freezes when it gets to “Logging into Diablo 4”. The screen freezes and the music stops, and I’m stuck. Have to shut down the program with the task manager. All other games and services working fine, so this seems to be a D4 problem. Anyone else having the same issues or have a fix? I can only get in the game about one in ten tries.
I am experiencing the same.
Logging into battlenet. Connecting to services. In queue less than one minute all flash by.
Then the Logging in Screen the spinning wheel stops and the game doesnt recover. After about 6 attempts I got through.
Yep, happening to a lot of us. I can randomly get in if I keep trying.
The issue comes and goes randomly. For me it was terrible on day 1. Like you I could only get thru once every 10 or 12 tries. Then I reinstalled, upgraded my drivers, and it seemed to be better. It failed occasionally but mostly worked. Now, without changing anything, it’s back to failing 90% of the time today.
Word is this problem has even hit some streamers so Blizzard might actually give a **** and fix the problem.
I’m not sure which setting is causing it but renaming my “C:\Users\yourusername\OneDrive\Documents\Diablo IV\LocalPrefs.txt” LocalPrefsold.txt or deleting the file so it creates a new file/settings worked first time for me.

same issue here, the only way for me to MAYBE log in is to restart the computer and open the game immediately… which is a bummer, I wish I could get a full refund b/c I tried to open a ticket and its impossible to get answers. i have this issue since last season.
Found a possible solution. I’m hoping others can try it so I know it works for more than just me.
This worked for me. Pretty annoying to have to do this though instead of it being fixed.
EDIT: This only worked one time. The problem was back after launching again.
My hope is we get enough people aware of it that it makes it on Blizzard’s radar. Basically we have to scream in the hope of being heard. Lame but that seems to be how Blizzard chooses to function.
This has been happening to me ever since the latest hotfix. I already finished the battlepass and season journey, so honestly I don’t care enough to make too much of a fuss lol. Time to play somethin else!
Yeah… in the other thread I mention you have to make the edit every single time you launch the game. I’m over 30 successes in a row with it and only 2 in 20 or so tries without it.
It’s not a “fix” it’s a horribly, kludgy hack to work around a totally stupid bug on Blizzard’s end.
Just posting this here since it’s been (mostly) solved elsewhere. May not work for everyone, but seems to be working for quite a few of us.
Skip the 1st intro screen. DO NOT skip the VoH intro screen.

Holy crap, after failing six times . . . SIX Blizzard!. . . . Not skipping the VoH screen worked the first time I tried. Thanks VacantLaugh!!
They need to fix their backend, the BGS and userproxy backends become de-synced with the client then it takes 20 more attempts before you are ever synced again. The code base and porting is trash. Ive reinstalled numerous times, scan and repaired, none of it fixes the main issue, once you’re bugged on the backend, good luck waiting for it to ever catch up again. Ohhh you might get into the game but now your stuck with reconnecting to blizzard and playing “offline” map wont open, cant interact with vendors, but you will see cross network players running around just fine. Their teardown of sessions on the backend needs to be much quicker and stay in sync with the client.

I found if you stand on your head and count backwards from 100 it’ll start working. Although I also found this only works on Tuesdays.
Same problem, I thought it was just the PTR, but I went back to the regular game and it won’t load either.
