Okay… in 60 minutes… ive managed to get a whopping 1 forgotten soul… is this seriousally normal? found one vein, and have opened 8 chests. If this is to be normal… its completely nuts… with how much they are needed for sacred gear. “oh you got a yellow, and want to reroll its stat? that’ll be 1 forgotten soul.” “oh you wanna upgrade a point from smithy, 1 forgotten soul”
Any easier ways to farm these things?
Legendary provides it at black smith I haven’t reach end game to know if there’s other ways. Unsure if the number is only 1 or it can go higher.
Yeah… not even salvaging sacred legendaries give it. Believe me, ive smashed around 60 of those.
There’s currently a bug that’s preventing forgotten souls dropping from salvage of legendaries.
Not worth salvaging them till it’s patched.

No link unfortunately, I’ve been smashing legendary items, so has the missus. We’ve both concluded that it’s likely bugged.
I’ve got 0 forgotten souls from what I’ve smashed. Same for her.
So, I’ve been hoarding the legendaries or stripping the affix out.
Edit: I’ve not even dropped the prismatic things that drop from legion/ world boss events. Not sure if legion is not guaranteed drop, or if it’s just slim chance.
Then… where does it say we’re supposed to get forgotten souls from legendaries?

60 some sacred legendaries salvaged. 0 Forgotten souls. They give coiling wards.
Yes, if you read the text it show orange word called legendary. I’ve check this not too long ago. Lol.
According to the interwebz, Hell tides are the only current way to obtain the forgotten souls. Which, if true, is going to be a PiTa for players in tier 1 and 2 realms, as the hell tides start tier 3.
Still, hoarding legendary items is what I do best, and I don’t know if I’ll use any of the stuff I dropped, but I sure as hell not giving them to the blacksmith.

@Zero If you reread my posts “forgotten souls” was never mention. I ask you that question because you do get a resource back and you need that to upgrade the lengdary. This is the same thing for replacing property. Lengdary are more rare since the devs nerf the spawn rate. In first beta it was easy to get them.
One other thing I found, easier to re roll a gold over retooling a legendary. Gold costs extortionate, but far better to reroll a stat on a gold item than a legendary, get the reroll you need, then imprint. (In theory, this is probably the best method to minimise waste of forgotten souls until more accessible means are found).
As it stands, I’ve yet to find a gold item I want to imprint seeing as I’m currently lv50 and the gears just going to be outlevelled fast.
Well… i’m 99% sure they arent used in t1/t2. unless you’ve gotten to t3… and gotten sacred gear. or been given sacred gear.
And the yellows cost a forgotten soul… when rerolling a stat… at the enchanter. which is why this crafting/drop for forgotten souls is complete BS.
No you dont get mats back when rerolling a stat on the enchanter it says clearly at the bottom “dont change” “Mats will not be refunded” or something along those lines. so you better pray you get a good roll when using that precious forgotten soul. or you’re SOL.
Yeah they’re not used in tiers 1&2 on rare gear (gold). They’re used on the legendary items or ones that have been imprinted though.
I’ve yet to see tier 3 costs and gear, as I’m still slowly making my way through campaign. Hells, I’m still running my drops from lv30 
as nothing new that’s dropped is worthwhile imprinting and changing out.
Not normal legendaries… sacred yes… but those come from t3.
You’re thinking of veiled crystals prolly? theres coiling wards, and baleful fragments as well.
