Omg man I’ve found at least 20 of these stinkin things but I just can’t get Doom Orb or Vengeful to drop…
The RNG on these powers is as bad as tempering for pete’s sake!!

the error usually sits in front of the screen.
there are only 4 witch powers you need to unlock with altars, the rest are all purchasable with rot.
so yea, your farming was a waste. since both of those witch powers are purchasable at the npc youve been introduced to.
sorry that im being snarky there - But “blizz” doesnt always need to do something.

I think you cant get a power you already have from an altar, so if you have bought all from the altars near the tree you would literally need to only find 3-4 altars to get all powers. At least thats what I did.

if you find altars after that, you get a level up for a random witch power =)

Nyurei is right, the powers you are missing are from the vendor altars, not the ones found in dungeons. Go back to the tree of whispers and check the three altars there.

Lol! Seems I mistakenly assumed the 4 legendary powers were “drop-only” and completely missed them at the vendor. Happily I wasn’t specifically farming them, I just found a lot randomly from doing pits & nmds etc.
So I did get a Blizz pity drop after all - tips dropped by Blizz forum people.

im in T1 and i havent seen one yet? is it locked to T2 and above?
I don’t think it’s random. It levels up whatever cost the most rot.
All the altars I found leveled up my Hex Specialization because I had all other expensive ones maxed by using rot.
After all witch powers are maxed, the altar drops 25 rot.

Personally farmed for hours with the potion and not seen a single altar on T4. Either my character is bugged, or this drop rate is still too low.
If you read the T1 info at the statue, it shows the base chance to drop. The potion doubles it. At higher torment levels, the chance increases to 6% at T4 (post patch), and I’ve farmed for hours and not seen a single one. These things are rarer than mythics for my account, of which I’ve had 2 already.
As a consolidation you managed to achieve getting two far rarer events faster than a significantly common event. You should be proud. The reason why it takes longer to get these is based on how long it takes to actually explore a dungeon vs. kill a boss, minutes vs seconds. Iterations. Just keep at it!
You are doing something right as I’ve only managed to find 2 of the altars, so far (and I play daily). I’ve got 2 powers left to get…not looking good at this rate, though. I thought the patch was supposed to make these things easier to come across…not for me (on T4).
