Blizzard terms of sale requires you attempt to work with them for 30 days first - so you’ll increase your chances if you need to go through your financial institution if you keep this in mind and actually try open communication with Blizzard first and foremost (be respectful and calm). Note: you don’t actually have to wait 30 days, at one point in the conversation the support agents will clearly say there is nothing else they can do for you - this is Blizzard closing out the conversation on their end, at which point you can proceed to chargeback. On the flip side, if they give you troubleshooting steps, you must comply.

Blizzard support agents craftily are paraphrasing back “you wish to refund Diablo IV because you’re not enjoying the game”. Make it clear you are requesting a refund because of known memory leaks and other technical issues that have already been acknowledged and admitted to by the developers on social media (buyer’s remorse will not get you a refund).

Blizzard support agents are also referencing “time played” limits that are shown to them within their support tool. However, this time played metric they are referencing is misleading - as it’s actually total time connected to their live services, which includes time in queue or time on the character select screen. This does not actually represent time you’ve been able to play - make this clear in your responses to them, so that when paypal or your financial institution reviews communications they understand this is a false metric they are using.

As hinted at in the first call out, be calm and respectful - I understand you may be frustrated and pissed off and emotional; and the Blizzard support agents will try to trigger you - as an example the first agent I spoke to rejected the refund request and closed out with “Glad I could help clear this up for you and I wish you all the best buddy!”. Don’t bite and freak out, ignore the trolling and just continue to be calm and respectful.

This is a very false statement, ask me how I know. Better yet I will tell you. They simply lock that license until you pay for it again.
It’s difficult for me to comprehend the level of sadness one must feel to put themselves through this. In the hours / days you spend feeling crappy about your interactions with customer service in trying to get a refund, you could have applied yourself and made a lot more than $70.

There is a clause within the terms of service that allows Blizzard to make changes to the gameplay environment whenever they want; so things like shakogate 2023 are not valid refund reasons. Known critical technical failures that are fully within blizzards control are, and this is actually called out in their terms of sale.

It’s sad to demand quality for something you paid for? I think it’s opposite it’s sad people don’t have the balls to stand up for themselves instead they just keep letting blizzard do this crap and defend them at the same time. See rude comments can go both ways
Blizzards current response times to refund requests is less than 5 minutes per response, so it took me less than 1 hour to go through about 6-8 back/forths with blizzard support. Making back $70 in less than an hour is actually not a bad net return.
Anyone who receives a refund should also have forum access blocked if this is to be believed.

It’s also worth noting that Diablo 4 is of higher quality than anything the vast majority of whiners will ever produce in their entire lifespan. All the QQ going on is a truly hysterical response from a small subset of people who should probably be on medication rather than internet forums.
