As I know and you know, minions are more for fun than being OP. Even in S1 with Barber and even with a Ring of Mendeln (I mean, it proc our own damage, not theirs after all).
And these two aspects, even if with Mendeln it means 4 more bodies to deliver the explosion, when it matters, our minions are either all there and we have 7 or more minions or they are dead and the ring is useless until we summon them back.
What I mean is that having more DPS vs using one or even two of those two aspects slots for something else could achieve other goals. I play for the fun of running an army of minions and as such, if I die all the time, it is not fun.
What about you? If you are using minions (for whatever the reasons), do you use these aspects? Or only one of them (then which one do you drop in that case)?
The ring will not proc more the more minions you have because the minions cant proc the ring.
But you do more damage for each minion more you have because each proc explodes each one’s next attack, so with 7 minions = 7 explosions, 11 minions = 11 explosions.
Yes I use them all the time. More essence, more corpses, more fortify, more chill/freeze status, more lucky hits and more damage. If a 50-70% boost in minion count isn’t worth it then take them off the bar and sac.
7 explosions vs 11 explosions?
Since I am using Barber, most of the time, I do not see them explosions as they are absorbed by the target (and if is a unique target, then all minions attack it).
Maybe that explains why I do not see that much the value of it.
Truly, I am struggling to find which aspects to keep and which one to drop. Minions make sense with the ring. For others, it is more so I find them useful. For example, I use the Ultimate Shadow aspect to turn my Bone Storm into shadow damage. I also use the one that let my cold mage use Blizzard every 8 seconds (more CC). But it means 2 less aspects for other things.
Even with a Wand and Focus vs a 2H sword, I would gladly use 1-2 more aspects slots for sure
I dropped Audacity and Embalmer to have both skeletons aspects in. And now I struggle, especially without Embalmer to get constant healing as I move through with my Bone Storm.
I could clearly put it back on my gear in exchange for the blizzard one. In that case, I should go back to shadow mages and use all of my shadow % damage increase at that point.
Thanks for the feedback though. Gives me a lot to think about as I move things around to fit for the new ring
More minions also spreads out the damage each one takes so it adds to durability on them.
But when I need the aspect space, extra warriors is the first I drop as extra mages+blizzard aspect is solid
You prefer as well more CC over 2 more warriors? My aspect for Blizzard is a strong one with 1800 damage per mage par 8 seconds. And since they are not on the front line, they normally survive more when faced with a higher level monster.
I’ll run some tests I guess to see what I do there.
Thats why I drop extra warriors first.
Extra mages pull more, also considering that because I’m usually hanging out with the mages, they get a higher uptime on Hellbent Commander passive.
I’d likely drop mages first if I used a reap oriented build that requires melee range.
The extra procs lost from Mendeln sucks. But extra CC is personally the way I go, find it helps keep me alive longer and dead dps=zero dps
