For anyone struggling post nerf with WW Barb/Shout uptime

I have been commenting on few threads, but thought I would just share this here, hopefully someone will find it helpful. Basically after the nerf I was dying and struggling doing the same nightmare dungeons that I was easily doing before. So I made the changes below and it fixed my build, was able to get back to 100% up time on shouts and WW feels pretty good again, back to farming the same content. Is it as strong, well probably not, I had to drop 2 affixes and switch 2 glyphs, but after that it is the same.

Basically I use the same WW shout build that everyone is using. There first thing I did was reroll helm and amulet to have around 15% reduced cooldown reduction. But even with this my shouts was still not up 100% of the time so I had to redo my paragon board and I ended up getting the glyph Disembowel which reads something like this ā€œkilling a bleeding enemy has 10% chance to reduce all non-ultimate cooldowns by 1 second ā€ . There is also another glyph called Marshall which reads ā€œAfter using a shout skill the active cooldown of every other shout skill is reduced by 1.2 secondsā€. I made these 2 glyphs a priority and got them up and running. This got me back to 100% uptime on my shouts and now WW feels great again.

Hope this helps someone enjoy the game. WW still viable, still doing end game content, just have to change and adapt a bit.

Thanks for the tips man. Those glyphs look good and the CDR on Helm and Ammy, gotcha ill look out for that.

Well hopefully they are more okay with this than before, since it requires some good gear and late paragon glyphs to do.

Another question, I just got to WT3 after beating the campaign and Iā€™m still using Hota for now, but been wondering when to switch to Whirlwind, kind of been waiting for the aspect that draws enemies in during Whirlwind but I think I have most everything else I need.

If you can destroy large amounts of enemies with it, then theyā€™re not ok with it. Their vision is not for us to do that apparently.

I was thinking about doing the same, but still level 57, so a bit early on my paragon progress.
Thanks for the tips.
What do you think of Rage of Harrogath chest? Thatā€™s what Iā€™m currently using to keep up the shouts, at least on elite packs.
Also, I would be interested to check your paragon board.

I also got lucky and got this drop. I guess saying a build should hope for a Unique to be ā€œactivatedā€ is a big reach (but hey most of the guides are saying get Grandfather, so whatev) and it has been pretty useful. I still have a few second lulls now and then but when itā€™s most powerful, and I need it most, in dense dangerous packs if my shouts die I can usually stay spinning until theyā€™re back again. Plus its D/R is nice.

TBH I leveled with WW using bleed and lunging strike, then just slowly built into the 100% up time version. It was not ideal but it worked. I would just give it a shot and see how it goes. It is really not too expensive to respec, as long as you are not doing it over and over.

But I would say if you have bold chieftainā€™s aspect for a ring, and/or Rage of Haggoroth chest then it will be even better as these really help with uptime on shouts.

EDIT: To answer Sinkā€™s questions: I was actually using Rage of Haggoroth before they nerfed the CDR and yea it might be mandatory now. Because before i got the 30% CDR on helm and Amulet and the glyphs I was still having some issues getting 100% uptime on shouts. With all of this, you can do it. Itā€™s okay to start out not being able to get 100% uptime and just work towards some of the chase items. Itā€™s good to have things to chase after I think. Have fun guys.

Do you know if you can gamble for Rage of Haggoroth? I am having zero luck getting it to drop and have been gambling for it also. Just wanna know if I am wating my gambles. Thanks.

Has anyone hashed out a priority list of affixes and which slots they can roll on, paragon points etc or anyone know of a good guide for this?

I finished the campaign and collected all the altars of lilith, now I am 49 and will run the capstoneā€¦ currently running rend but since ww/shouot appears to be ā€œthe correctā€ way to build a barb will go for that.

Iā€™m not sure, the Devā€™s said that any rarity item can drop from the gambling vendors, both Obols and Helltides. They did confirm that not every item will drop from these vendors. I am assuming some of the more rare items like the Grandfather which are your ā€œChaseā€ items. There are quite a few different ways to target farm specific types of armor or types of gear, including the cacheā€™s though.

So sorry I could not give more clarity, but I would think the Rage of Haggoroth could be gambled, I dont think its that rare.

Thanks thatā€™s basically what I did as well. As soon as that nerf dropped I started looking at those glyphs and came to the same conclusion. It works pretty nicely. I canā€™t use unbridled rage though but unconstrained is fine as well

i used rend thorns during campaign and then swapped to WW endgameā€¦
Went to wt3 and got wrecked since my gear sucked so i dialed down to wt1, farmed tree of whispers till i got decent gear then switched to wt3ā€¦
level 60 now doing tier 15 nightmare dungeonsā€¦

Man I got a really good amulet that I can potentially use, only problem is it doesnā€™t have cooldown on it.

Sacred Amulet
6.5% damage with two handed slashing weapons
+1 Rank to defensive skills
11.5% fury cost reduction
21% damage reduction while injured

and a socket.

If I could roll cooldown on it, it would be amazing at least until I get a really good ancestral one. Iā€™m not sure what the limitations on re-rolls are either but I think Iā€™d prefer to roll away the damage reduction while injured one, re-rolling is just so damn prohibitively expensive in this game.

Anyone know how this works? Can you re-roll any of those four affixes to CDR, and how ridiculous does it become to re-reroll?

Should post this on Reddit. Theyā€™re having a field day over their crying into their neckbeards about how itā€™s a useless class now. Itā€™s not. They just donā€™t want to try.

I would enchant the damage reduction while injured into cdr cuz you can get defensives easily on armor. and yes, you can pick one of any of those stats and reroll it. but only one stat and it gets EXTREMELY expensive fast.

This sucks, that amulet would be a huge quality of life boost if I could get CDR on it. All the pther rolls are great.

But Iā€™m up to about 2 mil per re-roll now.

JUST and FYI, I tried different chest just to test it and Rage of Harrogath is great and it is the BIS item but 100% not necessary. I was easily able to keep up the shouts 100% without it. I might have to mess around with it and see if I can work in some different stats, or get rid of some CDR, but yea you donā€™t need it to start out with.

To comment on Joblagz post, what I did and would highly recommend to anyone struggling is as soon as you hit 50, really try to unlock world tier 3, i did it at level 48 solo, but group play is fine. Then just run farm tree of whispers. Donā€™t worry about few deaths, Within like 20 minutes I had sacred rare weapons that was like double my dps that I previously had. After I got some decent sacred gear, I finished my renown then started pushing harder end game content.

To Darkinsanity, eventually on the amulet you will want +3 rank of all defensive skills, cdr, fury cost reduction and reduced damage from nearby enemies. If you are lower level, I would just try to reroll one time, then if you donā€™t hit something decent, just keep farming for sacred gear. Sacred rares can sometimes be better then some legendary you find so keep eye out.

That CDR on amulet and helmet of at least 15% must be important. I have the glyphs and theyre helping but I still have a lot of downtime. I have about 8% CDR on helm, havent been able to get it on amulet yet. Missing about 22%.

Just got to WT4, didnt start using Unbridled Rage until then either, was doing fine without and beat Capstone boss without it at level 63. Died pretty quick in a Nightmare dungeon level 24-25. Need to get better gear before I push those. Dont want to go back to WT3 to farm nightmare dungeons though. Glyphs are only levels 5, 4, and 1 for the ones im using so far, wonder if you were supposed to level more in WT3. Much better exp in higher level Nightmare dungeons though.

Guess Iā€™ll do Helltide, Tree of Whispers and finish renown in the last two regions and hope I can update my gear along the way.

Im doing good damage but fury generation is alittle awkward, even with shouts, you burn out somewhat fast. Still have never found an Echoing Fury power, so im stuck with the base value of 2.

I was thinking ā€œthis sounds great and iā€™ll try itā€ā€¦until i realized you were softcore and i cant try it like that at all without dying :frowning:

Honestly, the cooldown nerf isnā€™t the problem. You can still get 100% or almost 100% uptime. The problem is the nerfs to Aspect of the Dire Whirlwind and Gohrā€™s Devastating Grips and to a lesser degree, the nerf to Challenging Shout damage reduction. I am only level 63 but I play Torment and have all the uniques and apects required for the top build plus some Ancestral gear. Everything is 4-5 stars, with a good amount of work towards min/max gear stats. I canā€™t keep up with my 2 friends who are a Rogue and Necro. They do A LOT more damage than me with inferior gear. Also they have way more survivability too because of the nerf to challenging shout.

Barb is just in a bad place and the closer I get to harder difficulty endgame, the worse it feels. Hope they buff him up again - just not to the levels he was before.
