Fix the dumb tempering system

I havent bricked an item yet and used the scroll twice so far. Obviously im not going for the perfect rolls. But since its rng based im sure some of you bricked items , but that doesnt mean the system is bad.

Well at first you have to get a good item (which’s RNG) then you haver to probably reroll an affix (which’s RNG) then temper it twice to hit proper upgrades (and that’s RNG too) and after all - masterwork it with triple masterwork hits (aaaand that’s RNG).

Well… maybe that’s ok for ARPG or ARNG game, i personally feel like that’s too much, but that’s just an opinion, ye.

But all things here have unlimited tries, EXCEPT of tempering. Kinda meh.

That is not the issue with tempering.

The issue with tempering is the temper affixes are way too powerful. You don’t need go item, you just need to hit the right temper and you are good.

Apparently you do not read the forums as there have been a multitude of threads every single day criticizing the Tempering system since its inception up until now even. I would be happy if Blizzard actually put out a survey for their playerbase but I think they know players are not happy with it hence why they tried to placate them first with Scrolls. You do not go to the time to introduce something like that if everything is all peachy. The only reason why Blizzard has not taken action sooner is that they obviously do not have a solution and do not want infinite Tempers like how Masterworking works probably because some metric somewhere shows them it increases “player engagement”.

nothing is here to stay. Devs had a poor vision at launch and tons of things have been changed in this game by the request and demands of players.

Of course not, they want you to “trade” for new GA items to try again. You know, the ones that cost billions of gold, where you trade real money for billions of gold.

The forums is not the “Majority”, it’s not even a fraction compared to how many people World Wide has played the game. Don’t assume anything because you can be just as well Wrong.

I doubt Blizzard would ever give out that kind of information about how many people don’t like the tempering system. I’m sure they know some people are not happy with it, but if people are still buying the game (like VoH) Then it’s not a concern, wouldn’t you think?

And you know this How?

you work for Blizzard or are you assuming again? Infinite Tempers is 100% a horrible thing to do as that would (IMO) ruin the entire purpose of LOOT HUNTING. Something Diablo has been known for since the late 90’s.

This is a Grind game, not a (Find equipment, perfect it) and do nothing else Game.

Having your gear perfected ruins any motive to do anything else…

I asked so many questions on this Topic, and NO One, not 1 single person has answered it.

Please feel free.

Thank you RNGsus for a happy drop at one of my over 9000 pit runs

Thats how my temperings look like.
Exactly what i wanted.
I guess i take it. Its not that bad.

Tempering is awesome :metal:

Blah blah blah blah.

I have already posted numerous times the system I would prefer over the current Tempering system. The system sucks and you would be very naive to think that most players think otherwise - it just feels bad.

Do you think Masterworking should have a chance to fail and be set in stone? Why treat Tempers differently? There is already immense amounts of RNG imvolved in getting every item slot with Ancestral, let alone GAIII. Unless you are a sweat lord, you aren’t going to come close to that. When you get the “right Temper” it isn’t exciting, it is just deflating when you end up not and bricking the item.

If the complaint is that iT sHoUlD bE a gRiNd, having Scrolls being able to be used on an item indefinitely with the Scrolls harder to get is better than having to find duplicate items.

Your rebuttal is “blah blah blah blah”, I can’t take you serious at all.

YOU and others think the system sucks, I and others do Not think it sucks.

And calling me “Naive” is a ridiculous statement over something YOU just don’t like. What give you the right to call me names just because I have a different opinion (or) different play style then you.
I do not think your high and mighty, so lower yourself down.

RNG is RNG, I will continue to play the game and find more gear to master work just as well.

That is an OPINION of what YOU think it should be, not a FACT as you do Not work for Blizzard (neither do I).

They (Blizzard) makes the game and the content and if YOU don’t like it, stop Playing it.

First let me be clear. To think that tempering is bad is not equal “i want stuff to come easy”

This is not “Risk Reward” system. It’s another RnG gamble about an already rng dependent item.

I would like to have a Risk reward system. For example nioh has a nice concept to upgrade Items, you offer them at an altar, you get a challenging fight. You win, congratz you get a better Item… you lose… well to bad item gone.

But in nioh there is no RNGjesus screwing me over, i do not feel like i wasted dozens of hours grinding cause RNG was against me. I failed at a challenge i put upon me myself. Or i win and feel acomplishment.

What effort does the tempering need? You place an item and click on a button. That is literaly the “Effort” you put into it. Getting the item was the “Effort” but that effort stays regardles of tempering. The tempering only decides wether your effort will actualy be respected or if it goes down the sinkhole.

The bait and switch is the problem. It is one thing to grind for hours and find nothing, it is another thing to find something very rare and then get it taken away by useless temper rolls.

Like how many hours do you need to find a 3 Ga Item with correct rolls. if that is not already RNG enough i dunno, not like a better tempering systems means everyone is max equiped after 2 days.

Tempering system is obviously flawed. Proof is the number of times it has been changed.

there is a super easy solution. Just let temper scrolls drop as loot.

Ever now and then a mob has a scroll as loot. Upon that scroll are 6 random Stats if you use it you get exactly 1 of it. You can repeat it as often as you want but obviously the scroll is a 1 time usable. So you need to grind another one.

Pro.

  • more stuff to grind for
  • no item briking

cons.

  • happy gamers
  • no more rage threads in the forum

That would be tons of different things clogging inventory though. There are so many different tempers for all the heroes. 100s of them. I dont see this as working.

You know, maybe the tempering system just isn’t for you (and) others.

Until they change it to meet what you think people want, it’s not gonna change.

However, to keep people playing their game (which is obviously what the dev’s want people to do Anyway), I don’t think it’ll ever change.

If it does, Fine, good, if not…well y’all got scrolls and well keep hunting the gear. It’s what the dev’s want in this game like it or not, thats what it’s gonna have to be.

Its already been changed about a dozen times with adjustments and GA adding 1 more roll and scrolls reseting all rolls. They keep adding ways to bypass the wonderful system they made. That should tell you something about how great it is.

smart loot already substracts everything of other classes. What stays are only stats for your class. There is no inventory clogging. You find a scroll you look at it, you like it you make a right click and then click on a item and gone it is.

If you find like 1-2 of those scrolls every 10 minutes i don’t see how anyone has a blown up inventory.

PPL play more than 1 character much of the time and would have to then start saving these temper scrolls just in case they were needed and that would clog up inventory.

This is not a solution to temper issue.

are you kidding me? Honestly it does not seem like you have any viable arguemnt here you just try to complain.

It’s literaly a 1 click item on the ground with random stats, you like em you use it you dislike em you toss it aside. Even if i find something i think i can use on another char thgis is a pro not a con argument.

This game is lacking “twinkable” stuff anyway. Sincw when is it bad to collect stuff for another char.

Well, perhaps if people continue to complain about it and (Speak for others) then perhaps they’ll change? :man_shrugging:

Might as well wait and see.
