FIX tempering at blacksmith: INFINITE TEMPERS NEEDED

Do it now. This is a severe problem that has persisted since the item mechanic has been introduced. Infinite tempers are needed to accomplish players ambitions.

I agree with you but If they just make you able to use unlimited scrolls, then its all meaningless. Similar to enchanting where you’re just clicking until RNG likes you, which can take a few billion for certain skill ammys. The scroll will be as pointless as the prism used to socket items (in the endgame). Either they should completely change how tempering works, like make it something you choose and then level up, or allow us to reroll tempers unlimited but use a spark to reload the tempers. Sparks then have dual purpose and gives value to retempering. Just my thoughts anyway

Unlimited Scroll uses, make Scroll drops very rare.

Though honestly, Tempering isn’t as bad as anyone keeps trying to make it out to be.

Ive had to scrap (2) 3ga dex, max life, crit damage polearms. If some things werent weighted so hard against you itd also be better. When ya can go 12 tries on what should be a 1 in 3 chance and miss everytime. odds are like .008%

I feel you, brother, because I lost my perfect 3GA 2H mace for my Cataclysm Druid during the Tempering process. In total, I tried 16 times—one resulted in an okay-ish temper, and another had an unrelated temper. Now, I’ve lost all my motivation, and I’m at 291P on the Eternal realm. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a 3GA weapon, and I’ve never come across a 2GA weapon to even give it a try. So, right now, I’ve lost all motivation to grind for something better. Even if I find something good, I can’t be happy because I know every single temper could roll the same useless affix that I’ll never use for my build.

already around 500 attempts on one item to get at least yellow masterwork and failing :rage::rage::rage::rage:

Still, you are able to farm materials, reset and give it a try again but when item is broken there is nothing else you could do but cry.

I totally support the idea. If I can enchant my items infinite number of times (at a higher expense, of course), why can’t I do the same with tempering? Masterworking works also infinite number of times (with a reset) if you have enough materials. I wonder why tempering should be any different.

Infinite tempers are silly. If you spend 10b gold for a weapon traded from another player and you brick it that’s on you.

Also greed seems to bring ppl to brick a lot of items. Like 8% of a cooldown isn’t enough and they want the 12.5% max cdr - then they brick it. I see that a lot.

I think the basic system is OK - but I’ve gotta say I’ve gotten frustrated as well when you have THREE options and the game doesn’t ONCE give you the temper you need or want - using a scroll of restoration on it too. That’s total garbage and should be revisited…

My friend, I bricked my 3GA 2H mace without getting 1 single temper as I desired, it can happen and you know that, so infinite temper isn’t silly under this circumstances or maybe developers revisit the algo about tempers. Because in 8 rolls if you can’t get what you need, that means you have 8 more to get with the scroll and you make do with the minimum in which not logical if you have a better temper on a 1GA item. That means no upgrade for you, so if you brick the item that’s not on us but temper back end RNG codes.

We could at least be allowed to use as many Scrolls of Restoration as there are greater affixes on an item. A 3-star legendary with the correct stats should be harder to brick, but for the 1-star items, nothing would change.

Alternatively, a (massive) mat- or gold-sink could be added as an option to allow you to choose your temper, but that temper would only roll at either its minimum value or the median value of its available range, with maximum rolls only possible by gambling with the chance of bricking your item.
