(Fix found) Barbarian - Call of the Ancients - Talic does not attack when he targets your current target on summon

Fix: Bind it to your left or right mouse button (Basic/Core slot) and it fixes any targeting issues.

When using Call of the Ancients, Talic will not engage targets consistently. When facing 1 single target such as a boss, he will not engage them at all. But will more consistently engage multiple targets only.

I am using Arreat’s Blessing, but I am pretty sure this happens without it.

EDIT: Compiling my findings in the hopes that devs notice this, or at least other barbarians can use this info to make the skill more consistent.

Talic will NOT attack if you are currently ‘locked’ onto a target. I theorize this is the game trying to get Talic to attack YOUR current target, but something goes wrong and he does not initiate properly.

The work around is not to stop attacking and then cast. The work around is to actively ‘lose’ your locked target (The health bar at the top). This way, Talic will choose a RANDOM target to attack on screen and will start attacking, and you can get those lovely dust devils with Arreat’s Blessing.

Got same problem also, I thought it was related to some elixir, but I may be mistaken.

Been observing and doing a lot of different things, and it seems that Talic just fails to ‘target’ an enemy or even engage whirlwind.

I tend to stand still and wail on the boss for a while and spam CotA, and that seems to be the most consistent way to ‘break’ Talic. But moving around a bit and THEN casting it seems to more consistently make him attack.

…OR He just fails to whirlwind due to not being enough space where he spawns. Sometimes he will Whirlwind in place with no targets, and in others he will just stand still and do nothing.

EDIT: Did some even more testing!

Talic only seems to break if you cast CotA when you are STANDING STILL.

If you are actively moving and cast the skill, he goes into his attack animations.

I don’t think it is when I am standing still, because I have a Whirlwind build and I am always moving. I still think that using the elixir of advantage II disables him from attacking almost all the time. But I have seen him standing still with other elixirs. Maybe you could test with the elixir of adv see if that happens to you too.

He may be bugging out when you’ve got a target and are currently using a skill. I’ve been able to get him to consistently attack by not attacking and casting CotA. I’ve tried using the same elixir, and I got the same results.

My only ability that ‘locks on’ to a target I have is Frenzy. Whenever I’m using that and hit CotA, Talic just stands there like a dummy.

Tested again with latest patch. Bug is still there. I can systematically make Talic standing still by doing a Pit and using the elixir of advantage II with WW. The moment I drink another elixir, Talic starts attacking. Very annoying. Blizz could you fix this.
