Fists of Fate useless?

Are they pretty useless? The damage buff is very tempting but in use it seems like it does less than 100% most of the time.

They’re really only an option for classes that snapshot like WW Barb, and even then theyre still a meme pick.

The wording is 0 to 3x. So yea you can do no damage potentially.

The CC procs are decent in theory for fighting Lilith though.

i use them just because i see the damage boost I have nearly a max roll on the range so I will see 3 to 8 burning damage one second and the BOOM 10k-12k hits and back down to the less than 10 damage

I’m a level 82 arch lash sorc

A full roll should on average give you a 150% damage boost. Now in a short fight you could roll the dice and get craps.

They are usefull on Sorc, because it applies immobilize, which activates all 3 CC types on a sorc build and does huge dmg.

Pretty sure it’s 1% to 300%

I have every legendary except butchers cleaver and the ultra rares. Not sure my class can even get the cleaver

Fists of Fate is literally the only useable unique in high level nightmare dungeons

I rolled a 280% so lets take the average and say 140% over time
This isnt a true 40%
You give up a lot. Attack speed, 4 ranks of i e shards, critical strike and the precious multiplier that comes with that, ext

On the flipside, you gain immobilize as stated, but also daze and they are very high proc rates
People always focus on the damage numbers
Honestly its the CC itself im most concerned with
I cant express enough how valueable this is

For me its worth about 8-12 NM tiers… as it lets me tackle higher. Something special about chain stunning an elite 30+ levels higher than you

I went ahead and gave it another go to see if maybe I was just unlucky when I tried it. After some adjustments I had a lot better luck with it. Definitely better but you have to make sure you are maxing your crowd control procs.

players who has fist of fate, does it also apply to thorn damage? If it does, Razorplate + FoF glove would be insane

When the stars align and everything works its so much fun. Brings a level of super rng in dps. I was playing metero build when i got them and my metero was doing between 20k to 600k.

I use it on my sorc, and rolled a 300%, so it rolled well for me?

The issue with them is the other stats you’re trading off of them from a 4/4 pair of gloves. I feel like it doesn’t make up for the DPS difference

But having nearly infinite mana with high lucky hit is fun, but I see the point. If they could have +4 to ice shards I’d have to have my boxers surgically removed.

This unique is like- Lightning storm 10k or 3.5M per bolt. LMAO!

Depends on your class and also FoF roll

But yeah i lose 34% damage range dropping 4 ranks of ice shards
But with a 280% roll i can expect an average of 40% damage increase from FoF

Lets call it a wash. But the story is worse than that because i lose a huge amount of attack speed as well as 12% crit (ouch!)

But on a sorc its all made up for and some
First of all since most of us are ice shards we are already working with lucky hit builds

Secondly, as a defensive item it’s unbelievable
U can have almost 50% lucky hit proc worth of daze and immobilize. All of this speads for sorc with pierce and aspect of shared misery. With about a 25% lucky hit on ice shards almost every single non unstoppable enemy is affected by your CCs. You have to keep in mind shards is a 5 hit move, each individual hit has a chance on lucky hit and all of these also ricochet and pierce. So the proc rate is insanely high

What it means is that entire rooms of enemies are often stun locked… and i cant express how powerful this is casting from a distance in high level nightmare. You continue casting and spreading the CC, so they stay locked up until death

Its also decent for bosses as well, its an amazing item for stagger since it rotates cc

Finally, what makes this SO good on sorc in particular, is that it spreads immobilize

Immobilize is hard to come by for sorc, its a exclusive to 1 fire move that nobody wants to use,
Yet if you can immobilize an enemy you can get a 150% critical strike damage multiplier with the devouring blaze passive

Think of that uber unique sword that every barb dreams of… yeah its like that

So for sorc its a massive increase in both offense and defense

I cant speak for shako, as i will probably never get one, but in terms of items for sorc this competes for the best item in the entire game and that includes the super uniques

So yeah its that good

And a legendary aspect which can be another 15-35% damage loss. I just think they’re underwhelming from what I’ve tried versus properly rolled gloves. If there was a special material that allowed you to enchant unique items, that’d be awesome

Yes but it depends on class
If there was an aspect for gloves that spread immobilize on sorc by simply casting ice shards, it would be bis and all sorcs would be using it

Personally it was hard to give up the most powerful offensive slot for an item that gives no stats

But i was creative. I did that math. I knew i needed to reach at least 270% roll to make up for core skill ranks
So i kept going until rng sent me a 280%er

And i knew that i needed to make up for huge loss in crit, so i got an item that gives 12.6% in a slot that doesnt even get crit (boots)

I feel like i made up for the major damage downsides, but i get to reap the massive damage AND defensive upsides

But im not sure what other classes this item might be suitable for. It would be tricky for rogue
Not sure it makes sense on the other 3 classes outside of a fun roll the dice build

yes. 1% might as well be 0. 3x = 300%.

That doesnt matter unless you play a class that has a terribly low attack speed
On sorc we can cast 25 ice shards in 3 or 4 seconds, so the variation doesnt matter

What matters is the average. A 300% roll is like a 50% damage increase all else equal
