Firewall sorc... tier 100 NM

Seems this build just isnt gonna cut it. Despite max armour (13K+) and life 15k, with all resists capped, I’m 1-2 shot from every mob, including the low level trash.

Problem is that firewall seems to barely chip away at their life, meaning mobs are staying up and hitting me for ages…

Has anyone got a viable FW build into tier 100 ? I think I’m currently capped around 85-90.

All gear is decent (level 925), with some BIS.

Check my build.

Also works without Vampiric powers (of course less powerful)

Works in PvP tol even though the build is for PvE.

Thats the issue with nm100. People dont realize about defenses. You can build max defensive on sorc but you can only get hit say 4 times max. Which can happen in an instant.

You gotta hard cc everything right away or just flat out kill it.

Its annoying.

My chainlightning build is safer then ball lightning even though it does 20x less damage. When everything is cc’d im safe to kill slowly.

Duriel was kind and dropped an xfals ring which let me scrape to the boss on a NM 97. Got him 30% down with no revives and one of his effects then 1 shot me.

Time to watch your videos!

EDIT:- tweaked my setup to include aspect of engulfing flames and just cleared a NM 98…

One thing I hate about Burning is you see a lot of multiplicative burning bonuses from a lot of things. In paper, it looks like they will do billions of damage (exaggerating) but reality shows us otherwise

so… after my level 97 success, I tried a 99 and got my a*&* handed to me. Oneshot regularly.

Not a fun experience.

Since your armor and hp are good, are you able to melt mobs fairly easily? It goes both ways.

You need decent armor and hp to survive most one shots, but part of the defense is melting mobs quick too. The longer they are alive, the more chances you will die. It doesn’t matter if you have max armor

On my Ball Lightning Sorc, it only has 4.9K armor with decent damage reduction % but since I am able to stun and melt mobs first, I have no issues with low armor.

On my Burn Sorc, part of the survivability is killing mobs first before they kill you.

I’m running firewall and blizzard+ice spikes amulet at the same time with x’fal, I couldn’t play with firewall alone it doesn’t do nearly enough dmg for a comfortable and quick nm100, the real way to burn was Hydra when it did dmg scaling with enemy hp and the combustion node increased burning damage by 500% but now burning dmg is just silly, I see rogues poison touching the 1-2m per tic, I can’t get burning to tic for more than 100-150k on rainy Tuesdays(after vuln/chilled etc) and stacking like 10+ of them on the same spot so it really only work on a stationary dummy.

Yep Firewall alone sucks. It needs some rework or buff like 100x of the current damage on the skill or an aspect like Blizzard to Spikes.

Or make the duration shorter from 8 seconds to 2 seconds.

Or just fudge the numbers like what happened to Ball Lightning. They are both Masteries anyway lol.

Blizzard just do something

Fire sorc is painfully pathetic in a damage sense. However, this season I’ve stacked vampiric powers with incinerate and use firewalls for mana regen, burning for 5 seconds dmg buff, and just 25% dmg buff from standing in firewall.

My burning enemy DR is over 50%, my DR can be over 70%… and my barrier is constantly stacking while casting or not. So for me, my incinerate build farming nm70-80 at a nice pace is pushing the build far past what it can do, mainly due to my defensive capabilities. Fire just is too weak and they will need to consider some balancing unless fire is simply meant as a defensive power which makes it useless.

I like that applying burning damage helps with damage reduction and mana regen.
I like your idea, reduce the duration so it tics for more, and the wizard’s firewall improvement could also give 10% or even 15% mana regen instead of 5%, stacking 7 firewalls is a chore and makes me want to cast firewall non-stop to keep 7 of them up at all times, leaving little time opening to press other skills.

Its damage just doesn’t compete with BL or Blizzard+Spikes at all, but my Ice Spikes surrounded by fire look gorgeous I am sticking to it <3

I really like the incinerate game play when its viable, but once you go over NM 85+ you just have to keep moving or you are dead. Makes any skills where you have to stand still and channel, a complete non starter.

Farming NM 60+ with incinerate however, is huge amounts of fun.

It can definitely do T100! You just have to know how procs work and supplement it with lucky hit chance.

Your playstyle reminds me of my d3 firebird sorc. Just throw down fire storms (d3) and runnnnnn!

A lot of the issue with people dying in t100 is them sticking around to clear the rest of the adds that tend to be the range who dont run at you.

Watching you roll makes me wanna respec my CL to a firebolt/meteor build. I miss the playstyle.

Yess I had that firebird sorc too in D3! I came from a DH type of playstyle too so I love the shoot stuff and run type of playstyle. I also do this because at this point in the game I no longer need to pickup anything coz I’m pretty good with the gear I have.

interesting, thanks fore sharing.
by the way. why your flames are bluish??
another thing; next time show your build in a more detailed way, what gear what affixxes and aspects

The visual effect came with season 2 iirc (at least on the PC version). My firewalls are lovely red with blue highlights

Its when you got max souls

All fire skills get blue accent flames at rank 10 I think I figured it out? but it’s not active all the time it depends on the location  Oddly enough none of the skills of other elements seem to do the same.
