Fields of hatred question

So I went into the Fields of Hatred tonight just to farm some Red Dust and a little bit of the mats for creating elixirs. It was a very frustrating experience as every time I gathered any seeds and tried to use the altar to save them other players would bombard me and kill me therefore not allowing me to gather the red dust.

Is there a way to let these a-holes know to just leave things alone and let me play my game the way I want to play it?

How can I message them in chat to say leave me alone? I tried to figure out how to msg in the chat window but was not able to send a msg to a specific person.

Why are there so many a-holes that ruin the game play for others? I played for around 30 mins and did not get 1 successful altar round so lost over 10,000 seeds from being killed.

I can’t tell if this is a troll post or not, it reads like one, especially since Fields of Hatred is exclusively a PvP zone. So, naturally, you should expect PvP. Doesn’t matter if you want to play “your way” … when it comes to that.

But no, there is no way to tell them to leave you alone. Not that, that would do any good, because the above. People go there to kill people, the thing it was designed for. :pensive:

it’s the pvp area of the game, hence why people are killing you there.
play somewhere else i guess ?

I don’t really see how someone choosing to PvP in a PvP zone makes them the bad guy. This reminds me of Classic WoW where people got shamed for PvPing on a PvP server like they were doing something morally wrong when the people that couldn’t handle it should’ve just rolled on PvE servers.

So what is the point of killing people who only come here for gathering the red dust?
I only wanted to see what kind of gear could be gotten with it. I guess I will never find out.
It’s not worth the frustration of being murdered over and over.

I don’t see how it is fun for you to kill someone who is not expecting to be slaughtered and attacked. How does that make it fun for you? Wouldn’t you get more satisfaction by a challenge from somebody who actually may be able to kill you instead, and wants to play against you?

The whole point is for them to get more dust. That’s the PvP Zone.
If you really want to get the PvP gear, get ready to do some PvP.
The current PvP is not a duelling zone, it’s a free roaming zone. Roam at your own risk.

So I got this from the IGN D4 guide just now:

What is the Mark for Blood and How to Be Bloodmarked

In order to attack other players, you’ll need to be Bloodmarked. To do this, open the Actions Wheel and scroll to the left. When you’re not in the Fields of Hatred, this will say PvP Unavailable, but as soon as you enter these blood-soaked fields, the option will appear to Mark for Blood.

As you select this option, you’ll become Bloodmarked, and a red ring will appear around your character. You will now be open to attacks, and free to attack other players. If you choose to enter the Fields of Hatred without being Bloodmarked, you can just complete events and kill the monsters around the area safely.

When you need to stop being Bloodmarked, you can cancel it by visiting an Altar of Cleansing. You’ll find one of these altars in both Alzuuda and Denshar.

So this is not correct then as I never Bloodmarked myself and others in the area were able to kill me.

Try farming in WT3 there’s not that much people and if there is they’re usually underleveled than you. If that doesn’t work then there’s WT2 and 1.

If you’re converting shards to dust you become attackable regardless if you’re bloodmarked or not.

You could disable cross platform play. That will reduce the number of players.

idk I don’t really pvp.

regardless though, all I’m saying is people are going to pvp in the pvp area lol doesn’t really make them an a** or the bad guy or anything. not really sure what to tell you unfortunately. not trying to be rude or mean.

Is this post satire or people getting this dense? The moment you step into FoH you consent to pvp.

nope there is 0 reason to be in the pvp area. There are entire clans that just sit in those zones to harass the normal players that just want to enjoy the game. Just don’t go there and maybe one day blizzard will wise up and actually fix the bloodmark system to the way they said it would be in the beginning… if you bloodmark you are opting into pvp if you don’t then you can’t be attacked but it’s been bugged since day 1 and doesn’t work this way.

I think the problem is that it is a requirement to fully complete the season journey.
Imho pvp related activities shouldn’t be part of the season journey.

I understand your explanation and I have learned alot by making this post and reading the replies.

It’s just a bad system where a person is not able to collect the seeds unless willing to modify their build just for this reason.

I’d like to thank everyone who replied and provided good suggestions or information.

We can consider this question answered.

One other question not related to FoH.

How do I take a piece or segment from someone else’s reply/comment and reply or comment directly to that?
Like what Koetetsu did with his pely?

If you want to farm the cosmetics, I recommend trying on a lower world tier & specifically farming the chests that drop seeds.

I made over 1 mill. that way early on when the game was released. It might still be viable with the right settings.

Best bet if you want to play in the PvP zone without being killed is do it in off peak hours. When I was doing the journey and saw you needed to collect “such and such dusts”, I was put off by it. But one night, at around 3 am my time, I chanced it and there was absolutely no one around. Gathered up 16000 dusts in one go and got three marks on the journey in about a half hour of play.

Haven’t been back but it was pretty cool to kill the boss and complete a couple of events there for Tree of Whispers while I was it.

Except it’s not, you don’t have to complete every objective to complete the season journey.

^This. Not quite sure why they made it a Season Requirement, even as an alternative.
