I know it’s a novelty, and there are no plans to balance PvP AT ALL.
However, it’s in the game and the fields of hatred could use some updates.
-Ability to use profaned mind cages
-Masterwork and more Boss mats from the hatred chests
-Automatically unflag when you fast travel out of the area
-Refresh the abomination and extraction whispers more frequently
-Reach idea: exclusive and standardized PvP gear from the seed vendor.
I mean once you have your gear, a busy fields map is the best part of the end game. Once you can clear a horde 8 or pit 100+ you aren’t gonna get surprised in either.
You never know they could add more PvP stuff with the expansion. My best guess there will be another PvP zone for people to play around in. Either way good luck to you sport, I’m all for more options for the players even if I don’t use those options.
It’s just not the focus of the game. Yea it’s been in all Diablo games but the first one, but they’ve never done anything with it in any of those games. Instead they made HotS where you can literally play as Diablo and destroy your enemies.
Technically D:I had more focus on PvP, but it’s also pay to win, and unless you’re a whale you’d be best not engaging in PvP in that game.
one big way to make pvp more engaging is by making it more rewarding.
Make a “world boss” spawn (not the roaming weakling) but a giant butcher world boss spawn in there and make it last man standing event (you die once during the world boss - you are out) if the world boss doesnt die but everyone else does - boom event over.
But if the world boss does die… oh man, everyone is for themselves (no grouping allowed) and the last character alive (again no revives/rezzes during the event) they get to loot the dead butcher chest that could contain cosmetics and or mystic ubers…
You guys add that, and every weekend gamer dad will be trying to pee-v-pee even if it hurts
This would be hilarious. I could see people constantly killing each other during the event while trying to run away from the boss. Anyone who can hard CC will be king, just get people killed by the boss.
It was in the first one as well. Play online and some rando would gank you and take all your stuff just for a laugh. Granted you just join another group and they would dupe everything for you again.
If the current two zones are mostly empty, no chance that they’re making a third one unless it’s a completely different form of PvP like a DotA style map or something.
i think it would be a big hit and fun. I know I would look online when the pvp world boss event is starting and trying to fake a poop if its during my normal business hours to get in on that action. I know being a weekend gamer dad body type, i wouldnt have too much hope getting to loot the dead butcher chest.
I can just see the king of cc’ers trying to cc and only to find out the butcher gets enraged and does the Axe clap X formation over his lower region as the last sorc falls and grunts out “Eat it” lol
It’s literally just the 1 or 2 bugged builds each season that ruin the fun for everyone else. They already have the levers to deal with that, they just don’t use them for it. examples: 90% DR, reduced cc duration, and reduced potion effectiveness. They could totally use their PvP adjustment feature to reign in FO/LS sorcs on the map, and they could’ve used it for the assorted barbarians builds of every prior season.
Imagine if Helltides were like Fields of Hatred, where you could kill each other to steal their cinders. I know it won’t happen, but it would be a mix of fun and frustration. So yeah, adding some chests or maybe boss materials to Fields of Hatred would be a nice touch.
PvP is a lot of fun, but I think most players avoid it because it can be intimidating. They really need to make it clearer what kind of player you’re up against, so it doesn’t feel like you’re walking into a losing battle every time. If they’re not going to improve it, they might as well remove it altogether—right now, it’s more frustrating than fun when you keep ending up playing with yourself.
I farm in fields of hatred a lot during season. You aren’t walking into anything. There is no body else there. In 4 season I have seen another player twice in FoH.
If you go to FoH and get brutally ganked be surprised and happy you got ANY interaction at all.
If you are arranging fights thats a different story; would be nice to have a way to matchmake.
Its a good place to go, especially for leveling; its fast ToW turn ins and tons of obols (seeds) to spend at the vendor.
At this point, they may as well take the Fields of Hatred Zones out and just make PVP open world. Bring back the aggressive flag option from Diablo II. I’ll group for that.
