With Season 3 - I had 1-2 crashes in single week, with Season 4, about every game. Now Season 5 - every 10-30 min. I’m a software engineer by trade and building custom computers for 30 years, understand programing but no expert. I found the error in the Fenris Debug log , pointing to the GPU Disconnecting.
The fix - change Adapter in LocalPerf.txt from “0” to “1” so it forces the CPU/Code, GPU driver to the PCIe external not the CPU built-in. Stopped the GPU disconnect error.
played 20 min and still game crashed 2 times - no longer the Disconnect GPU and now is game coding. This is a Season 5 patch issue and not your PC’s stop wasting time and making tons of changes to your system, not going to resolve the issue and the resolution is Game Coding, PERIOD.
I was forging an Ancient weapon and game crashed 2 times - This is 100% game issue

with this ACCESS_VIOLATION on Diablo IV.exe,
perhaps take a look at your antivirus scanning log, it could just auto scan and interfered with the executables.
and your symptoms seems worsen (every 10-30 min), also could be your drive space is getting lesser which is not enough to accommodates virtual memory pagefile size.

I haven’t gotten that error in a while… Though the other day my game was “Decent” when it came to me playing, today was just… BAD.
Had a ton of Cinders I was trying to Ride my horse to as many chests as I can before time ran out.
Horse kept stuttering, keep getting stuck on random rocks and blades of grass and Invisible MOBS that knock me off my horse and I have to WAIT before I can ride away again… takes deep breath
Not cool.
I’ll always volley for D 4 but when something is This stupid bad I’ll call them out on it.
Service connection is suppose to get better, not worst at random times this far into the games life span.
Season 6 I’ll understand THAT being buggy at first though.

Antivirus is turned off and no not running oit of space, still 2 tb drive space.
If this was any of the items you suggested other games with much more needs for graphics or drive space, virtual space i would have issues with probably 10 games i play off and on.
I fixed the the GPU DISCONNECT error and it is the game, uninstalled and reinstalled still crashes … pretty disappointed
No this is the game 100%

I would say do a quick visual scan of your services and see if something that runs an overlay is running. A well known one is Gamebar. Stop that service. It is most definitely a Blizzard code issue this is a known conflict in Overwatch also. Turn that and other overlays off. You don’t need to turn your antivirus off just add the game folder to the exception list.
I have not seen this issue since week 1 after launch and then very recently after season 5 patch, it popped back up again, I made a thread also.

Thanks, I am very familiar with computer hardware and windows since day of Dos 3.0 I have been building computers for customers well over 2500 and high end top of the line for myself.
My system is trimmed of bloatware, no background services running, Gamebar or 3rd party apps except Lian Li app for fans and MSI afterburner for GPU.
THis is the game and review of the error code debug clearly shows the software is encountering failed process call.
None of my other apps or games fail and my system is error free in event viewer.
This is crazy as all my games run 4k maxed ultra in any game, and this is garbage. Ran fine season 1-3, then 4 started crashing, and now Season 5 non stop.
I chalk it up to the game and may just be one of those that I cant play because of poor coding.
maybe try to turn off the cross platform communication, i did that whenever diablo 4 got patched/ hotfix and causes frequent crashes. after few days, i would turn it on for teaming chat and no longer crashes.
this phenomena makes me think of some joker always took the buggy cross platform communication branch to compile and later remedy it with hidden hotfix.
all those settings have been changed…no idea and this is bad every 10-15min crashes, Tested everything in my system GPU, CPU, Ram, M.2 drive - everything is Good. Change XMP from 2 to 1…default Bios, update to Intel 129 patch…nothing works, WTF it is really bad and had to Refund the DLC cant take the chance
lastly i would suspecting GPU memory is going off. thats the most easily broke down component as due to GPU heat. from occasional crashes to more frequent. your other games and app might not loaded to those bad sectors, but maybe diablo is. good luck.
Right now the game has heavy memory leak.
I think game optimization requires some work. Processing heavier than usual when in town. No idea why.
GPU consistently hitting 60-70 celsius. Before 1.5.1 - GPU was not even hitting above 55.
I have never seen any sort of Fenris errors yet. I have seen quite a few complaints about it over the months, though. I hope you find a resolution.
