I was happy to see, that necro is finally getting some love to a corpse explosion build.
So I startet building it with the 2 core items black river (Also rly nice to use it on pants slot) and Howl from below.
The problem with corpse generation is easly solved with the new unique and the season perk “Defile of Dead”. I use Decompose to generate every 0.5 a corpse. The bad thing I see here is, that the other stats and effects of the unique are useless. Maybe rework the skill to generate 1 corpse every 0.5s instead of 1.
In my opinion Howl from below needs other stats: Fear and slow effect is useless, attackspeed for corpse explosion is ok, but there are better options.
Also the dmg from the effect could be higher.
In general the dmg form corpse explosion is a little bit weak in comparisson to other builds/classes. But I´m happy to see blowing up the screen and the build is also fine against bosses with the new corpse generation mechanic.
I was able to run pit 60 in a good time with very good gear and 38 ranks to corpse explosion. Sure, it´s only a first version of the build, but a good one.
To improve it decrease the spawntime of corpses for decompose to make the offhand slot free. And increase the dmg in general (prefare to do it with a rebuild of Howl from below).
Keep going, rly nice season!
EDIT: I managed to run pit 70. Trash is ez and fast. But boss takes a lot time.
EDIT2: Noch chance on Duriel T4 and co. DMG is way to low.

I’m just going to give some helpful advice.
First, Decompose is, much to my personal chagrin, not a good skill at the moment. Sever, with the Lotus aspect, will generate 3 corpses plus more when it procs Hewed Flesh.
Second, corpse attack speed is Cap 2 attack speed whereas regular attack speed is Cap 1. I don’t know why they did it that way, but Cap 2 is very rare and a very good stat to have. Each type can be stacked to 100%. If you can generate enough corpses or are fighting in enough density, then attack speed is very nice to have.
Finally, Fear is very powerful. Amplify damage makes it so enemies that are feared take x12% damage and that could be boosted all the way to 10 ranks with a triple Crit masterwork GA Amplify passive on Amulets. That’s 40% damage from Fear. If you’re using Blighted Corpse Explosion, a damage over time effect, then you could take the Creeping Death aspect which gives 20/30/40% damage per crowd control. There are other ways having more types of crowd controls can stack.
Amplify Damage passive grants extra damage bonus to feared enemies.
What aspects are you using?
I feel like some of the uniques are so close. If they made Mortacrux’s Skeletal Simulacra into Volatile Skeletons, and then made Howl From Below cause all Volatile Skeletons trigger a corpse explosion, there would be such a cool way to ramp up the explosions. With enough gear put together, you could have an explosive build properly befitting a season of chaos.
The problem with CE isn’t support from uniques, it’s that it lacks scalers. It’s missing tags, paragon support, and all of those things. It’s more like a seasonal power than an actual skill.
Absolutely true. It’s hilarious to me that the “Profane” tag is in the game and then it’s completely inconsequential.
