Feedback to devs from a lvl 65 sorc

Hi all, the devs said this is the best place to feedback so I thought I’d put in my two piece.

I’ve now played for 110 hours and have a Sorc at lvl 65. I just completed the keystone for 70 at 64 and am now at the next tier. And I absolutely love this game.

The story was great, the art, music and atmosphere is spot on and the feel of playing this character is so enjoyable. I have enjoyed spending time tweaking my build (no use of online guides) to get it right and I think the current systems work really well. It would be nice to see even more of a variety of abilities on items but I’m already seeing more as I level up. It would also be great to see more Paragon boards as well for more variety.

In terms of my levelling experience, for me it has been nigh on perfect. I have always had things to do, a nice variety of experience and a great balance of challenge. Now I’m 65 and on Torment its time to get new gear, balance my items again and complete hell tides, side quests, explore more, more dungeons etc. Its fantastic and I must add, side quests are brilliant content which I don’t even mind re-doing with new characters.

People are complaining here about lack of content but in truth, its the 5% of extreme players that put in 100s of hours in a space of 3.5 weeks with early access. I put in 110 and that is around 4 hours a day and that is likely way above casual. So most should still be sub 60 - looking at the achievements on PS5, only a little over a third have reached 50 or even completed the story!

It may be the case that post 80 is a grind and in that case a new difficulty level should be added asap, which looks likely. But it doesn’t affect the vast majority of players and wont because this will likely be added in time. This difficulty just needs to have enough high level gear and experience to cover the remaining levels.

What else is needed? I have really enjoyed the nightmare dungeons and the varied affixes, we just need to make sure reward is balanced which you’re already looking at. The other are all QOL steps - jewel tab, search bars for inventories, its mostly inventory management based so minor. I also think some time needs to be spent in ensuring the quest log is better - I need to see completed quests, and lore tied to it for later reading. Also what happened to being able to read diaries and things completed, none of that seems accessible which was present in previous games. This is odd for a game that had so much lore focus i.e. books, youtube videos etc.

Going forward we need more items and abilities, more expansion of skills, classes, and of course the much needed fifth difficulty for post 80. And then more activities which will come per season. Maybe even more quests with companions as its been nice to have npcs along for the ride sometimes.

For me its been truly an ideal game - I see a huge amount of criticism here, but it’s simply from people that can’t appreciate what they have, have burned out on a game by putting way too many hours in over a short time and no longer have any objective focus. Please keep this in mind - the vast majority of your gamers are in love. And just want more when the time comes.

Thank you!! I fell in love with the franchise because of this game. I finished D3 while waiting for release and did some post game (110 hours) and have already got D2 for my commute on my Switch. And all of my games have been parked for a full D4 focus. I cant imagine breaking for other games until Season 1 ends - thats the level of addictiveness here. But not only that, its been such enjoyable gaming for me for over 100 hours. I also have a brother in law who has never played an ARPG before completely addicted - and there are many many people like that. I can only see this game going from strength to strength.

You just hit… 65. You havent enjoyed that grind, especially as a solo player. Come back in 15 more levels. tell us you feel the same as you do now. The same nightmare dungeons over and over, with stupid tasks. the lack of mobs in alot of areas.

First half of the game was fun, agreed, second half not so much. the last 25% yeah horrid. They tried new stuff, a good portion of that new stuff is lackluster. Also agree with all the Qol. need more inventory space too. Not sure whats going to happen when season comes out, and i actually wanna play a new character. just to get a bunch of loot, come back to eternal with all that loot after season, and oops have to trash all of it. because there is only room for 1 character. It’s d2 all over again. March of the Mules.

You do understand that I have spent 110 hours in a game over 3.5 weeks right?

Your complaint is about end game content that the vast majority of their players haven’t even reached. And by the time they do I’m sure the difficulty level will be added.

So what’s the issue? That I’ve loved over a hundred hours of a game over three weeks and haven’t reached the levels that no lifers have already which comprise a tiny percentage of their gaming base? And an issue they will fix?

Sorry for the fact you had to grind so far so fast and have run out of things to do. But it’s hardly a long term issue for the game. And the number of hours these people have played to get to this in such a short period of time. Well.

Also to note that by the time I get to 80 plus it’ll be time for season 1. New character more content and I’ll get another ton of hours out. This is what happens when you burn through content like a demon from the hells eh? By the time I get to 80 again I bet difficulty 5 will be in.

127 hours, level 80 sorc. So try the numbers again. oh wait. im apparently a no lifer because i got 17 more hours on you?

So you’re saying the ones thats there before you, shouldnt care about your future experience? The super slow grind, the lack of mobs, the lack of actual fun? It’s the ones thats there first, that put in the complaints, that gets stuff fixed for those that are behind. Are you saying we shouldnt be having fun either just because we are there before you? Serious question, what are you, stupid?

I’ve been solo 98% of this game. 1% was helping others, the other 1% was some dungeon runs.

And you call everyone thats ahead of you a no lifer? You realize theres more than 15% exp gains when grouped, and buffed, right? So yes they are going to get there faster. I gurrantee you there are groups of people level 100 thats spent maybe 75 hours in game.

Matter of fact.
YouTuber and Twitch streamer Rob2628 is now the first person to reach level 100 after grinding around 54 hours.

54 hours of playtime. to get to level 100. So stow it with your no lifer BS.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the game, I do to. Keep in mind that level 85 is a halfway point to level 100 is terms of XP. Level 65 is not even close to 50%, and that’s a good thing if you like the game. There’s a lot of game left for you.

Chill dudes… don’t start bickering lol…

Zero means well VSwift but is always very straight to the point and blunt😂

Zero I hope Blizzard takes into account Vswifts level with his feedback …

VSwift thanks for the positive vibes and please continue to bring feedback once you’re a higher level as well it helps Devs and forums project and determine where the game needs adjusting, fine tuning an upgrades from sustained feedback throughout the game lvls 1-100

See ya in Hell fellow wanderers :metal::sunglasses::metal:

What a nice post Dreadrock thank you.

Zero my point is all you’ve done is focussed on efficient focussed levelling, you had to. I’ve been exploring and having fun and I’m twenty levels behind. And I’m not a noob. I’ve been taking my time and enjoying. The average person still hasn’t completed the campaign. Have some sense of normality and leave the self entitlement. The Devs continue to work on the game. Somehow we know the 80 plus content will be bridged.

Anyway in terms of my content Vs yours what does this tell you? Thing is, when all is said and done, whose having more fun you or me?

Based purely on that I’m the one whose smiling. Sad that you’re not, hope you do sometime.

By the way don’t ask me if I’m stupid again. Get some manners. I’m tired of all the negativity everytime there is an ounce of positivity. It’s a bit much.

Man got 1300 posts on a new game forum already… relax zero and go touch grass

Post count is carried over from the D3 forums.

I will chime in here as well. I’ve got over the 200 hour mark on one character, Druid which is notoriously slow to play and has an extended grind within the grind and generally requires more time to put together what will eventually become a late game juggernaut.

I’ve reached level 85 myself and really only started to focus on the grind around level 80. The last pieces of gear for my build fell in place around level 76. I don’t use any particular build myself but understand what makes the good builds actually work so that I am able to apply those things to my own. For what it’s worth I run all the pets and also pulverize.

I didn’t cross into WT3 until level 55 because I spent extra time doing renown along the main quest for the extra points because Druid needed a lot of help early. Once I crossed that threshold I was quite strong but faced an uphill grind from 60-70 as that is a typical pain point in the game especially if you stay at WT3 that whole time.

I moved to WT4 at level 69 and actually crossed 70 doing the capstone run itself. WT4 was a challenge at first and even with completed renown and Lilith altars it wasn’t until I got my first good weapon drop that I started to kill things more effectively on WT4.

It was at that time I also needed to build towards defensive nodes in my board because even with barriers and fortify my build was still taking a beating. WT4 gets more aggressive enemies and those come with more elites which tend to come with a lot more CC. My off meta build has to build different to get around this and making a mobile Druid without using the bear ultimate or trample that can put out a lot of damage proved to be difficult but not impossible. Playing how I want has certainly contributed to my extra play time, but it has also focused me away from the grind.

From level 80 I knew I had to start focusing on levelling up my glyphs and planning my final paragon board. So I had to go a bit harder to that and was running pretty much whatever NM glyphs I had. Some of those dungeons are downright awful and as you begin your grind you will experience that for yourself. But you have a handful that are pretty solid for exp and glyph leveling. It’s not until you get to this part of the game where you have to run dungeons to progress that it gets repetitive.

You will see sigils for other dungeons and may be tented to try them, but trust me when I say you want no parts of a NM dungeon where you are freeing 7 prisoners from the snake creatures that can stun lock you for 10 seconds so that you get access to a room filled with snake creatures that don’t give any experience for killing them and finally progress to the circular section with elite snake creatures that also have frozen, poison and exploding enchantments. It’s cool to do it once for the codex aspect, but after that it’s just annoying and very time consuming.

So the idea to break monotony, which works for me is to participate in some other events, Helltides being my favourite. I enjoy those more than anything. The tree of whispers can be a nice side distraction at times, but as with NM dungeons you will find yourself prioritizing about a half dozen areas where you can rack up the favors quickly as you will likely either be squeezing them in before a helltide or during one.

So what over learned over the last several days of grinding as a solo, participating in all of the activities and targeting the ones that are most efficient is that I can gain a little more than a paragon point per hour on average. I could speed that up if I didn’t pick anything up and ran straight from objective to objective and dungeon to dungeon, but that’s not how I roll. I’m still here to play the game and engage with all the systems.

At that rate for me to get from level 85-100 it’s going to take me another 50-60 hours, which in my opinion is a bit too long and takes some of the fun out of the game. Of course I could get there in less than 8 if I grouped up and speed farmed the popular grind spots, but that to me is also not fun.

For most people 50-60 hours is weeks of grinding, this is not what I want from the endgame experience. Getting my first character to that milestone is a big deal to me and at 200 hours in other games I e usually gone past that and I am well into a second or sometimes third play through. Elden Ring for example, a truly massive game in its own right, I’m just over 500 hours after my 4th play though and I’ve done all the major bosses each time.

There is a bit of excess grind here that is painful, still I keep at it because there are games with worse grinds that I have played. It’s also the reason I chose to prolong the campaign and pursue the rest of renown the WT3. It’s why I chose to figure out a build and paragon for myself to distract myself from the inevitable so that would not focus on it so early like many who started by rushing the campaign out of the gate and jumping to WT4 in the mid 40’s or 50’s because they were chasing the endgame without experiencing the actual game.

So I hope that helps you to see what lies ahead. Things do need to shift in the player’s direction and some upcoming changes will do that with regard to instant travel to NM dungeons and better experience gains for doing them. That and seasons have a mechanics where you can earn exp gains along the way which shortens their levelling grind as well. That said it is a great game and I still enjoy playing, only wish this final grind wasn’t as long and repetitive.

The game degrades fast post 80 for Sorc’s. I hope that the changes coming tomorrow make that more enjoyable for all of us and that you never have to feel that wall we have hit at true endgame.

The more vocal the people at endgame are the better that transition should be for people who arrive a little later.

We all just want the best game possible and I will never knock anyone who is still having that experience👍

This game is great. The players are azzholes.

Very blunt. But you’re accurate.

No. Did I speed through some leveling? hell yeah. BUT you’re wrong. I’m done with renown, on the actual items (paragon points in each)
Whats left in each zone?
FP: Quests 29/35 Side dungeons 11/23
DS: Quests 31/38 Side dungeons 12/21
Haw: Quests 39/49 Side 6/23
Keh : Quests 37/44 Side 9/23
Scos: Quests 20/47 Side 16/25
MIND YOU this was listening to the lore and EVERYTHING from the quests.

i did the exploring, did alot of the side quests. did all lilith statues. Did the full campaign. Did helltides, did nightmare dungeons, World bosses did all the content that is currently available. Well cept uber lilith. Yes theres still a good bit of side quests to do. my issue is finding the bloody things.

I’ve had hella fun doing the whole game. But you’re telling us. that since we high up there, we dont deserve fun. The only thing we deserve is a long boring grindfest. where its a chore to even change out builds to try something else thats fun? so much for all those super uniques!

And no. thats a serious question. Because you acted like people in late game. shouldnt voice their complaints, or actually be able to have fun because “they are no lifers who ran through the game ree reee reee!!”

So whats your next BS assumption about me and my gameplay?

Oh man, look at the little one that values numbers. Who’s a cute little puppy. You are.
But thanks. you did point out how close I am to the last meme post number that i was aiming for. I would of missed it! 16 posts to go!

PRECISELY! Someone else that actually gets it. Yes we are voicing complaints, maybe some belligerent. But for petes sake, not everyone at end game, is no lifers. blah blah blah. We have legitimate complaints, and wait… buff patch tomorrow? where they say this?

Adam Fletcher has posted a few times on Twitter stating “very very soon” we are getting part of a 13 page set of patch notes.

With back to back days of maintenance he said “very very soon” today again which only leads me to believe tomorrow, because back to back maintenance days seems very odd, we will be getting some of those quality of life changes.

I would go as far to say we get Nightmare dungeon changes either tomorrow or later this week.

If not I will eat my words but at this point I will grasp at straws to keep me engaged till Season 1.

Yeah well than thats a no definitive, just more speculation. although if we do get it. that would be great really hoping for some changes. and some buffs.

Well i have a 85 druid, 73 necro, 50 sorc, 52 rogue… and a level 19 barbi.

And I say…

You’re mainly right. I still find tons todo. My only critique putting a side class issues (ya looking at you Necromancer) is i really wish there more variety of mobs in nightmare dungeons and bosses. Maybe have a chance to have a story boss for the finale boss fight or something. Oh… and more butcher type fights like maybe Andriel randomly shows up!!

So I’m back with a personal endgame update. I’ve put in a little over 8 hours of playtime today and managed to gain 2 full levels while mixing up all the endgame activities available for us to do.

That included multiple helltides, quite a few NM dumgeons, a handful of whisper quests, 3 legion events and a world boss kill. Mixing it up certainly helps to break the monotony, but with the amount of things I’ve killed today that ended up being a to. Do work for two levels.

Beyond those two levels I managed to upgrade one paragon glyph from 10-15 and a new glyph I want to try from 1-10. I also managed to get a new ring to upgrade my final sacred piece to ancestral. It came with three near perfect rolls but I spent close to 25 million getting the 4th roll I wanted. I still have over 80 million gold left over, but that’s quite an investment for maybe a 2-3% gain in overall power.

I did start to push into the 40’s with my NM dungeon’s to see how my build is doing. Currently I am comfortable pushing 8-10 past my current level and the build works well in most cases. A positive sign, but even slower going because to seemed like every mob had either reduced damage or increased hit points in addition to being scaled 10 levels past me.

Still it’s a lot of work to put in for what amounts to a small gain. This type of endgame is enjoyable for some people, but the vast majority will likely lose interest once they hit this wall.

At the end of the day I still had fun, but I definitely overextended my playtime in game as I generally like to keep it under 5-6 hours so the grind doesn’t hit me as hard.

Solid work.
I’ve been on a forced break from gaming (self), works already hit the RL grind, plus tax coming up every client needs their jobs asap
Glad to see an epic civilised thread.

Thanks for all the great comments in this thread.

I just want to say I appreciate there is frustration for those that have reached a certain level and things aren’t flowing as they should. I’m almost 67 now and the game is flowing wonderfully in torment and with ancestral and tweaking my set up I’ll be covered to 80ish as expected. And I do expect to hit this wall, no doubt. But as I said I’ll probably then have two weeks left to the new season.

But honestly who doesnt expect a new difficulty level soon to cover that? As people mentioned season 1 will have exp boosters and more content etc. Ultimately it’s an amazing start and issues post 80 are sure to be fixed sooner rather than later. After the Devs have responded fast to everything else do we really think they’re not on this too?

Many are taking a break if they’re already there others are trying new characters pre season. Only option for now. Don’t think it’s bad to take a break after 100 to 200 hours over a matter of weeks! I mean I intend to the week before season 1. Last thing is burning out on a game that you’ve loved playing. So my goal this pre season is 80 to 82 really!

Aww, I see you skipped over the post that proved your BS assumption wrong.
Bravo.

“You focused on the grinding only!”
Nope!
“Ree imma ignore that you did 95% of all stuff in game”

I love people like you, that cant handle the facts clap back.

Yep a complete and total slogfest. But of course we can see why they bottlenecked it now, and were soo worried about people farming dungeons with “High” density mob packs… (seriously champs demise wasnt even that packed. now its like a “mostly” deserted island.)

Because for “Endgame” there is a lack to do. especially since they want you to pick one build and stick with it. Unless you’re constantly super farming to get both more gear and cash. to try and test another build. I wonder if this is how it’s going to be with actual sets.
So lack of…
End game
Making new builds
Mass Slaughter.

Plenty of
Grinding for gear and gold.
Dungeon fetch tasks.
Walking in wide open areas with no mobs.
Fear of trying a new build due to nerf fests. after farming good gear…

Atleast with the upcoming NM portals. it will make farming the NM dungeons… more “Relaxing” instead of running from town to dungeon for X amount of time.
Come on Blizz, do better.
