Been playing Diablo 4 season 4 ALOT since the release. I’ve lost over 100m gold on just reworking items and I only get the smallest upgrade you can get or I get the wrong stat with 25% affix upgrade 4/5 times.
Tempering: is way to punishing, bis items have dropped and I have thrown so many of them because I got the same affix while tempering 6 times “so fun”
Ubers: I have done tormented duriel and andariel plenty of times with over 65+ unique drops and not a single uber, yet 2 of my friends already have gotten 1 - 3. Weird thing is that they are this lucky every season and I am not. Atleast if you’re unlucky you can spam helltides with alt and get free ubers, after hours on helltide. Also. “fun” but something I guess.
This is a good step in the right direction, but people with already bad luck is insanely punished by the design of the tempering and the masterworking. 5m gold to reset rank but you dont get materials back which means you gotta spam The pit. Feels like a job at that point
Their just needs to be an elongated quest like process to untemper an item. That way godly items don’t get bricked, and it also doesn’t become too trivial where you can have perfect mid-grade items by just buying gold. Because nobody will want to spend the time to get perfect mid-grade items. Bricking items you can just get again in a few hours is fine. But not gg items.
I think your disappointing experiences with bad outcomes is making you under appreciate just how much the tempering system as already tilted the odds in your favor from before. Prior to tempering, that almost godly item either dropped or it didn’t and now you have 5 extra chances to see if it lands.
Tempering was never meant to entirely replace the hunt for that improbable drop and turn it into a journey of inevitability.
Greater affixes are greater affixes, they are not the fault of the tempering system. In fact, without the tempering system, you don’t even get 5 more chances to hope turns out good.
I do agree that tempering is a good system, just a system that needs more tweeks. For example… I would love to pay gold like masterworking just to redo the tempering process. I dont want to spend hours to get a really good item to just throw it away in seconds of tempering. It is not a fun experience.
But also as I stated before, they are in the right direction, just some more tweeks and it should be fine.
the bigger issue here is now that they made the system the game on whole is much harder because they expect you to be able to get those mods where as before you at 100 could to endgame now you at 100 cant till your luck gets you into that better geared spot because the games built around it now so its gotten much worse
this game there like lets to this and now there gear can be better easier and the others go yea sounds great so now lets make the game around that lvl of gearing ( but you don’t realize how much harder it’ll be to get there when its ramped up for people who are already there nobody gets there
Who said anything about easy? If you’re lucky and get all you want good for you. If you dont have a job and play all day good for you? I dont want to spend 30h per item, you might, I dont care. It’s all about too much RNG which makes it hard for some people already with bad luck. That is what im talking about.
I want steady progression the more time I play. I hate when powers are locked behind being lucky. Being lucky to roll a high roll, that’s fine; being lucky to be able to use an item, not so good (thought the new system is a relief from uber unique, then it’s more rng).
What’s the point of dividing player base with luck, so that ppl can show off or sell items for more real money?
For someone who’s not so lucky in general, it just feels bad. I know playing longer will not cut it for me (which I have).
There should be a mechanism to re-charge tempering charges. Have it require a rare material and a substantial gold cost so that it will only be worth it on those very special items.
i agree on that. You finally get a drop you need, then you go to temper, get your affixs you need then you go to masterwork and boom now you have 70% in one resistance. There in the step in the right direction but locking gear upgrades (Masterworking/ old BS upgrades) to the end game is not the way to say you added end game content. All they did was make it slower to get to the tormented bosses. Lucky people can get there faster while the rest need to sit and grind for weeks to have decent stuff
I see your complaint but what else is there to do at the endgame?
Refine gear, and pit (to further refine gear)
You already kill the ubers. That’s supposed to be the endgame goal.
Unless you just want to push pit, then you obviously need to be there. Doing the same loop.
Although I hardly ever have RNG go my way I don’t have much ofa problem with it. It is the frustration of the game. That is what gaming is, the meager hope for great all while being frustrated.
The worst part for me is not getting great but being locked out of playing by RNG. I have tried probable 50 times to get the Rapid fire unique or the frost unique to play those 2 new builds and I cant get them. Junk after junk after junk after junk that is worthless. Not being able to play is the bad part of RNG.
