Feedback RE: Glyph Leveling

I’m picking up D4 for the first time since early Season 2. I’m enjoying my time in the game a lot and I’m happy that things seem to be improved.

One thing I am dissapointed in is the Glyph leveling experience. In Season 4 everything is centered around the Helltide which to me is really fun. I really enjoy the timed, somewhat fast paced gameplay. I enjoy getting together with random players to summon the boss on repeat and reaping the rewards.

What I don’t enjoy is having to stop all that fun to go play super boring nightmare dungeons for several hours to level up my glyphs. I never liked the nightmare dungeon system and I don’t find it fun. My feedback is that leveling glyphs feels like a chore and really kills my motivation to keep playing. I wish there were other ways to level glyphs besides just nightmare dungeons. I would do anything else, even if it worked at like 25% efficiency.

I think we should have a new currency after level 100. All the experience we gain after level 100 will go into the new currency which we can exchange for golds, obols or Glyph xp.

I’m with you. I’ve played the first week and a half of each season. As soon as I get to around level 85, when I’m going to start refining my build & gear…as soon as I think about grinding dungeons, I lose my desire to play.

NM dungeons feel like a chore. If they were just long random mazes (what the previous Diablo’s where about), with the only objective being ‘find the end boss’, it would make the dungeons flow so much better.

My friends and I break things up by rotating objectives. We’ll help each other level up glyphs…one of us might be after a particular piece of gear so we’ll do hell tides. I say find yourself a group of friends to regularly play with. The added layer of helping each other makes the grind worth more. Add voice chat through blizz or Discord and that puts the party in party.

However, the season 4 experience is much smoother compared to previous seasons, because of 2 glyph XP boosts: from the seasonal urns and the sigil affix. Basically:

  • Before running NMD’s, grind the battle pass until you get 4 urn dust, max out the glyph XP urn, and then…
  • salvage any sigil that’s not glyph XP or “extra shrines”.

But this is just Blizzard cheesing the XP rate, rather than making the grind loop less tedious, which I think is still needed. I wouldn’t even mind the grind being twice as long, if it can also be 3 times more engaging.

This sounds like you took a break in early S2. If so, I’m curious why. :thinking:

Yeah that’s what kills my motivation to boot this game up again, I can do for awhile, but like end game just running the nightmare dungeons over and over is very boring especially when there isn’t much in return.

Wait till you find out they copied the glyph leveling system directly to armor and weapon leveling too. It’s hideous.
