Feedback: Please slow down the game

Greetings fellow Diablo fans!

I’m here today to discuss a topic that’s been on my mind ever since Diablo 4 was released - the gameplay speed. While the fast-paced action and frenetic combat may be enticing, I firmly believe that slowing down the gameplay in Diablo 4 will enhance our overall gaming experience and allow us to savor the content longer before reaching the end game. Here are a few reasons why I think this change would be beneficial:

  1. Immersion and Storytelling: Diablo’s lore and storyline have always been captivating, and slowing down the gameplay would give us a chance to immerse ourselves more deeply in the game world. The current high-speed gameplay might make it difficult to absorb the intricacies of the plot, appreciate the atmosphere, and fully engage with the characters and their narratives.

  2. Appreciating the World Design: The developers have worked tirelessly to create a visually stunning and richly detailed world in Diablo 4. By slowing down the gameplay, we’ll have more opportunities to explore the diverse environments, uncover hidden secrets, and truly appreciate the artistic efforts that have gone into crafting this dark and immersive world.

  3. Rewarding Exploration and Discovery: Diablo games have always encouraged players to explore every nook and cranny of the map to find loot and secrets. However, the current high-paced gameplay often pushes us to rush through levels, overlooking the joy of discovery. Slowing things down would incentivize us to take our time, explore thoroughly, and be handsomely rewarded for our curiosity.

  4. Skill and Strategy: Diablo games have been known for their skill-based gameplay and strategic depth. By slowing down the pace, combat encounters could become more methodical and challenging, requiring players to think tactically and utilize their abilities in a more meaningful way. This would add a layer of complexity to the gameplay that would be highly rewarding for those who love to master their characters.

  5. Strengthening the RPG Elements: Diablo has always been at its core an action RPG, and slowing down the gameplay would allow us to fully embrace the RPG aspects. By taking our time to build our characters and engage in meaningful interactions with NPCs, we can feel more connected to our in-game personas and invest ourselves emotionally in the journey.

  6. Longevity and Replayability: By elongating the time it takes to reach the end game, Diablo 4’s longevity and replayability would greatly benefit. As the game stretches out, we won’t be rushing through the content, but rather enjoying the journey with each new playthrough, trying out different character builds, and experimenting with various playstyles.

I advocate for a balanced approach that retains the essence of Diablo’s action-packed gameplay while allowing us to savor the experience longer before diving into the end game. By embracing a more deliberate pace, we can truly appreciate the depth of the game’s storytelling, world design, and RPG elements, leading to a more enriching and fulfilling gaming adventure.

What are your thoughts on this matter? Do you agree that slowing down Diablo 4’s gameplay would be a positive change, or do you prefer the current fast-paced style? Let’s start a constructive discussion and share our opinions on this exciting topic! May the loot be plentiful and the demons plentiful!

Have you tried to play rpgs and not action rpgs?
If you like turn based games, you could revisit diablo 1.

Nobody cares about immersion, this is an ARPG key word is “Action”, not a full on D&D Role Playing game. I promise you that you arn’t going around speaking and playing like w/e role you are trying to play. Last time I checked when role playing a character you don’t say “I cant do that right now” repeatedly when trying to get out of town on horse using the sprint skill.

Um this game isn’t some type of leap in graphic history for all games like we went from Atari to PS5. Nobody cares about the world design, we want to kill monsters and get awesome loot. Not play dance around the monsters for our cooldowns to be up to finally be able to fight them for 6 seconds then back to waiting. I mean if you wanna run around and look at the world maybe they should release a “empty” world where there is nothing but the environment so you can get all hyped about nothing revolutionary.

Nothing in this game is rewarding because the loot sucks. 0 need to discover what I have already discovered, you think you are going to get some type of joy on uncovering the fields of hatred for the 9th time in Season 9? No its the same exact place, the dungeons are all the same 5 layouts rince and repeated 0 form of originality. 150+ dungeons when in reality its 5 renamed and put in different places to make up these 150+ dungeons.

Season 1 malignant tunnels is another rehash of the same dungeons and nothing new added. Great season content right? /endsarcasm

Its an ARPG not a MMO there is no skill or strategy. There is get gear, level up, make broken build, murder hordes of demons and get epic loot. This is not what we have because they are trying to reinvent the wheel when it comes to ARPG and they failed super hard.

No, I dont want you running around like a MMO thinking you are some real blacksmith when you cant do blacksmith stuff like you can in MMO’s. You cant be my alchemist, you cant be my healer, you cant be anything but a monster killing machine and if the RPG elements were strong and used by people all you would hear is “KILL KILL KILL” cause there is 0 roleplaying elements like true Role Playing games have that you are asking for.

The role playing aspect for all Diablo comes from you feeling like a Demigod, Nephilim, etc. Not by being the fairy princess of Kyovashad walking around town spreading your fairy dust.

If there was good itemization like Diablo 2 the game would have a huge fan base for over 20 years. Just like I still play diablo 2 to this day, Diablo 4 will not be the same. Same with Diablo 3 stopped playing it by season 11 or so because it has similar issues as Diablo 4. Itemization is complete trash.

In Diablo 3 get your set for that season which they overturned to force everyone to use the specific set and nerf the others into the ground. Diablo 4 is forced to 1 or 2 specific builds for end game but market it as “play your way”, when its actually “play our way”, because any skill that isn’t apart of the meta builds then it isn’t used.

I have not had enough coffee yet for a post like this. But it’s already slow motion for solo players. But Blizzard tends to adjust the game depending on new content. Right now the game needs some tuning and polishing. It runs, But a little on the rough side. Kinda like a car with a dirty fuel injection system.

I think you are a minority OP. For me the game has got a good speed. Maybe it should be a bit faster.

This, although it may not seem like it, is supposed to be an arpg. I just want to kill monsters, level up fast, get the best equipment with the possibility of looting an uber unique or two per season to know what it feels like and that way try all the classes every 3 months, that’s how I have fun, I don’t ask for more

Diablo II resurrected is quicker than this at this point. Why would anyone sane want it to be “slower”?

More or less.

But atm the game is only updating to please racing to 100 and toxic content creators.

D3 2.0 mode is the game currently , thanks to bad updates. and revoking all the cool features that make the game actually good.

People rejected , so the game will become a cotton wool ball of vomit. Is the current trajectory.

Not the game as advertised or pre sale media. Game is live service sure. But making the game Not what it was sold as, to appease a crowd, is not right.

Rip D4 future looks grim.
Campfire says as much, CEO dont care about the game, only money so they are gonna make the game, the majority want, even if that game, is reverse of what we got sold.

Game is not bad for having high repec, answering this kind of crap, is BS.
It fundamentally changes the game.
the Experience so much, just because you don’t get it, does not mean it is wrong.

Wish they stood by the game.
But it;s all about maximum money. So never buying a blizzard game again.

Its the same as giving you repec in dark souls, fundamentally changes the game.
You cant repec, you screw up your character, thats part of the gameplay.

Just because it make you annoyed and throw a tantrum , does not make the game bad.

Just because other games in genre allow it, does not make it a staple.

It’s a mechanic in a game, you dont’t like it, Find another Game like a normal person.

I bought the game with this mechanics like that others, so we should have the say, we wanted the game this way, we watched pre-release and played beta.

What Is wrong with you Blizzard, How many times you going to shift the goal posts.

Let them cry and leave, your audience will come and grow ,by making a great game.

Darksouls didn’t grow overnight…Imagine when that fanbase hears the new diablo offers gameplay mechanics that challenge them.
The you get the audience.

Revert these changes is people pleasing BS. …nothing more.

If you think slow is boring, move on.
D4 not as fun as D3 move on.

Not every game is for you!
This is the game they advertised and i play tested.
And that game, should be patched and updated to suite.

Per the Diablo Wiki: https://diablo-archive.fandom.com/wiki/Lore_Summary

The Diablo Universe involves angels, demons, super humans, giant spiders,
world-bearing dragons, an earth that shouldn't rightly exist, necromancy,
shape shifting druids, maddened kings, and warring nations:
getting lost in it can be easy.

No where does it involve you being a nobody adventurer that is weak.

Also if you follow Diablo 4 storyline where it all actually begins it goes as follows:

The story begins with Inarius, a powerful angel and member of the Angiris
Council. Tired of the constant fighting, he sees little point in their
infinite war they are waging against Hell. Convinced that there must be
others such as him in both Heaven and Hell, Inarius starts to search for
other individuals who share his views on the war. To his surprise there are
many such as himself, and together with Lilith, daughter of Mephisto, he
leads a great exodus. Together, they defect from Heaven and Hell and search
for another place to live. They succeed in stealing the Worldstone, and
perform two tasks which above all others will affect the course of history:

The 2 tasks they performed were:

  1. Create Sanctuary, the world of men, as a paradise and refuge from the Great Conflict
  2. Create the Nephalem, the first humans

I bolded the part that points that even if we were just some “adventurer”, we are still Nephalem since we are all humans and the first humans created were Nephalem.

I like your enthusiasm but I have one question: How?

Simply put, D4 is a ARPG, not a TRPG or a MMORPG.

The combat pace is fine in my opinion because it only gets fast after your first playthrough of the campaign and start building your endgame character at 45+.

That means most people are enjoying the story and world at a slower pace already. Once that’s done, all hell gets loose.

I bet you’re the kind who goes to Mc Donald’s and orders a salad.
WTF is wrong with you.

Never said weak in diablo 1 the warrior is jist the kings son and main character in diablo 2 they literally call you a team of adventurers it wasnt until diablo 3 when the nefilim came in and the super humans and diablo 4 theres no reference to nefilim at all

idk dude, I’m not lore expert, but I doubt that such a word as “nephalem” even existed before Diablo 3. Information on the lore is constantly changing in such sources

ROFL. This game is way TOO slow.

Ummm… no thank you. They need to speed up the gameplay in this snooze fest that is supposed to be an Action rpg.
