So many things depend on the materials you get from legendaries ( Baleful Fragments, Abstruse Sigils?..not sure if these are still used)
like:
adding aspects
putting holes in gear
re-rolling attributes
I think even tempering…I could be wrong about this but I think it takes like 5
I love the new pacing of where legendaries do not drop before penitent and it feels good.
But the problem with those materials being tied to gear changes, is really impacted during leveling. If that was the intent then it’s fine.
But if it was not the intent, maybe lower the amount required a little before T1 (at least for putting holes in gear). I have all these gems and nowhere to put them.
This is the first time I hit T1 with only 3 legendaries that were found and not many holes in gear.

Glad you brought this one out.
Yes we are all stuck at low levels. No legendaries drop, no aspects, no materials for imprinting and tempering.
Nightmare dungeons have no more aspects. We have to depend on legendaries drop and Torment level is up to 12 now. Such slow progression and long grinding.

Yeah the problem is baleful fragments is a little tied to everything. In T1 you can find them even in helltide chests but before that you can’t.
I get if they wanted to limit holes and tempering and applying aspects for sure.
But then why have chip jewels and such? By the time you are in T1 the jewels are up to flawless already.
Also if you level with something (weapon) that has a hole you should put in a diamond for the all damage multiplier…but this limitation also keeps you from upgrading that weapon unless you find one with holes in it. Same with runes, you can find runes but you can’t really use them early unless you get lucky with something with 2 holes in it. And then you need to hope the attributes on it are workable. That is why I said especially the hole making, because that is already limited by scattered prisms.

apparently they want you to ‘craft’ your own gear but turns out the materials you need to craft gear is really scarce right now.. go figure it out how they decided to open 12 levels of torment while reducing the drop rate of gear massively but they want players to ‘craft’ their own gear but the materials that you need for it it’s really low drop rate it’s more for a beta test than live servers.

As I’ve said over multiple seasons. Pretty much any change is designed to slow down your progress and make you engage with as many different systems as possible…all for one reason.
Metrics.
All those engagement metrics so they can show the MBAs how good everything is because people “”“like”“” doing all the content.
The true Prime Evils are the soulless, metrics driven MBAs who have probably never enjoyed a video game in their lives.

At the moment, i’m fine with it. I spend my last materials to get a aspect on my new found 850 item and it was ok.
I also like the pacing and i hope, it is intended and that they will not change it, because some people cry about it after 4-5 hours into a season.

Feedback to OP and zoomers, the season is intended to past longer than what it used to be and imprinting, pocketing, MW, tempering, and even the cube usage is not necessary while leveling or even in the first torment or 2. If you are treating LoH like previous iterations you are going to be hurting for mats.
Like obducite in S12, 2-3 days in people were crying. A week or two in, in really wasn’t an issue.

From the way the skill tree opens up and the rate that mats increase and drops increase as Torments increase, it totally seems intentional.
from sounds of the nerf (not gotten play as busy irl but should be able to by tomorrow so just what i read/hear) in materials it sounds like Blizzard did exact thing that GGG did when they overhauled the loot in POE few yrs ago…they ended up having to hotfix it after a few days.
A game that is built around needing materials to use its features can not be too starved as it has to balance time investment to reward else you just have a season that is not fun and just annoying and people drop it rather than suffer it longer.

Unfortunately, what takes GGG 2 days takes Blizzard 2 seasons.
Blizzard has a big problem in that they need to balance around 12 Torment tiers of juiced expansion content…for an audience that may not even have the expansion.

Balancing what is required to put a hole in gear before t1 really does not depend on what it takes in t12.
That is if they want people doing it. Maybe they put all those gems below flawless in the game to fish with? Who knows?
I am assuming the people who respond understand that you already need scattered prisms to do this, but tying something that is unattainable in these tiers to it at “25 a pop” is beyond poorly designed, it is an oversight at best.
I don’t know when it occurs, but there is a point where it radically changes.
In the campaign it only costs 25 veiled crystals to put in a weapon socket.
I’m guessing that is when there are more legendaries to be had in the economy.
Outisde the campaign all those tasks require Baleful Fragments also for Rare or Legendary Gear, not sure about magic or lower. Most are 25 I think tempering is less.
But what I am saying is
If I have 1 or 10 legendaries before T1 (that would be a lot for what is current). And say I get 2 or even 5 fragments from each.
That is 2 holes I can put in peices of gear? (in 70 levels to make the issue obvious) Oh wait what if I need to put an aspect on something that is now 1 hole. So no runes for me unless I find something with 2 holes.
Why do requirements in pre-T1 need to be the same as requirements in T4? Unless you want these systems to be unusable. I mean all the things you would put in the holes are dropping.
This shows, as a devleoper, you don’t know how keep a healthy economy working around your systems at every level. This is not a matter of balancing power from tier to tier.
Edit:
So I just added 2 sockets in my 2H in Torment 1, and it only cost gold and Scattered Prisms.
So this requirement for Baleful Fragments is only below T1 where they don’t drop.
So it is clearly intentional to make the systems unusable on your first play through.
A player alt will have these so they can use them.
And no I didn’t imagine it for 70 levels, I made sure with a new character

Nah, loot drops are fine in torments. Its an issue for those who expect to finish the season in a few days.
Not sure why you are even in this thread when you read nothing in it.
Nothing I said has anything to do with being a zoomer, it is about a segment of the game where systems are unusable.
I ignored you becuase you exude ignorance, now go away.
I guess, you aren’t supposed to craft this much in the really early stage.
I mean lvl 50 upwards every new weapon lvl is incredibly more powerful.
You need a new weapon and not two holes. Not you personally but you get the idea.
After doing some war plans and activities and/or putting ashes into crafting mats, you reach the point, where it is no problem any more to temper/change aspect etc.
You can’t craft during leveling on your first character , apparently outside the campaign. The mats are just not there, and they have locked all of those systems making Baleful Fragments required on them.
Do we have a different understanding of crafting?
I did some during campaign. Aspect change, holes etc.
For me this is included in crafting.
