Necromancer Minions Need More Health
Recently, I played through Diablo 4 as a necromancer and found that my minions were constantly dying during boss fights.
This made the necromancer class very difficult to play, as I was often left alone to fight the boss without any help. I had to rely on my own skills and abilities to survive, which made the game much more challenging.
I believe that the necromancer minions need a significant health buff in order to be viable in combat. As it stands, they are simply too squishy and die too easily. This makes the necromancer class very difficult to play, and it needs to be addressed.
I hope that Blizzard will consider buffing the health of the necromancer minions in a future patch. This would make the class much more viable, and it would make the game more enjoyable for players who enjoy playing as a necromancer.
Details
Here are some more details about the issue with the necromancer minions:
- The minions have very low health, even when you invest heavily in minion health and survivability.
- This makes them very easy to kill, even by normal enemies.
- As a result, you are often left alone to fight bosses without any help.
- This makes the necromancer class very difficult to play.
Solutions
Here are some possible solutions to the issue with the necromancer minions:
- Buff the health of the minions.
- Give the minions more armor or damage reduction.
- Allow the minions to revive themselves after they die.
- Give the necromancer more skills that can buff the health or survivability of their minions.
I believe that any of these solutions would make the necromancer minions more viable and make the necromancer class more enjoyable to play.
Conclusion
I hope that Blizzard will consider addressing the issue with the necromancer minions in a future patch. This would make the class much more viable and make the game more enjoyable for players who enjoy playing as a necromancer.

The skelletons just suck.

Make them less stupid as well⦠RIght now they just stand in fire⦠poison or whatever and die.
Also I donāt think this has been mentioned yet but this needs to happen ā the Priest (heal/buff) needs to DISPEL everything thatās on the skeletons as well, it is ridiculous trying to heal through poison damage they will just die, and youāll have to resummons anyways. Skeleton Priest must dispel

Indeed.
The skeletons minions just die too fast.
You really need to buff them.

I think itās working as intended. Minions are good for some kind of fights but not for all fights.
Like on Astaroth WT2, my minions died quickly and I dont have enough Corpses to resummon them. Or maybe I dont have the critical Pet gear for Pet build.
So I adjusted. I made a build with no easy to die minions. I made a build to make me unkillable. Low DPS but Astaroth cant kill me.
Hereās my ROFL Necro toying Astarothā¦
I am okay with it so far. I think when I do multiplayer, I would be resurrecting PuG players over and over on such Bosses.
Basically just bring the minions back to where they were pre Server Slam beta, where they werenāt oneshot by bosses at the beginning of a fight with 0 corpses yet created to reaise more. Making them this level of squishy is one of the worst decisions for a minion class Iāve seen in any ARPG. Other games have done this and itās never gone over well. Even PoE fixed their minions to be less useless.
OR, if this is the intended gameplay and skeles are just not supposed to be good for many boss fights, give us build slots to swap back and forth between on the fly so we donāt have to undo EVERY ABILITY just to down a boss.
Blizz plz.

I agree with you that the nerf to minions was too harsh. I think Blizzard should consider reverting the nerf, or at least making some changes to make minions more viable in the late game.
I understand that Blizzard wants to make the game more challenging, but I donāt think that nerfing minions was the right way to do it. Minions were already a difficult playstyle to master, and the nerf has made it even more difficult. This has led to some players complaining that minions are no longer viable in the late game.
I think that Blizzard should consider some of the following changes to make minions more viable:
- Increase their health and damage output. This would make them more tanky and deal more damage, which would make them more useful in the late game.
- Add new skills that buff minions. This would give players more options for how to use minions, and it would make them more powerful.
I hope that Blizzard will consider these suggestions and make some changes to make minions more viable in the late game. I think that minions are a fun and interesting playstyle, and I would hate to see them become obsolete.
As for your suggestion of build slots, I think that would be a great idea. It would allow players to experiment with different builds without having to undo all of their abilities. This would make the game more fun and would allow players to find the playstyle that works best for them.

āSacrificingā them also gives minimal bonuses.
For how strong enemies are on Tier 2 difficulty even in the early 30ās, minions just scale poorly and the sacrifical bonuses are poor.
I disagree with your statement that minions arenāt for every late game fight. I believe that minions should be good for endgame fights, and that they need improvements to make them more viable.
Minions are a core part of the necromancer class, and they should be able to hold their own in late game fights. However, right now, they are too squishy and do not deal enough damage to be effective. This is especially true in fights against bosses, where minions can be easily killed by AoE attacks.
I believe that minions should be given more health and damage, and that they should be able to target multiple enemies at once. This would make them more viable in late game fights, and would make the necromancer class more fun to play.
Here are some additional points to support my arguments:
- Minions are a classic part of the necromancer fantasy, and it would be a shame if they were not viable in late game content.
- Minions can provide a lot of utility to a necromancer build, such as tanking damage, applying crowd control effects, and generating corpses for spells.
- Improving minions would make the necromancer class more accessible to new players, as it would be a more forgiving playstyle.
Based on my own calculations, a full necromancer build requires level 50 to unlock all viable abilities. This means that it is definitely a late game build. Before level 50, the necromancer will not have access to all of the tools they need to be effective. As a result, it is important to focus on leveling up and unlocking new abilities before attempting to tackle any difficult content.
- Many of the necromancerās passive skills provide significant bonuses to damage, survivability, and utility. These bonuses are essential for creating a powerful necromancer build.
- The necromancerās playstyle changes significantly at higher levels. For example, at lower levels, the necromancer may rely on their minions to deal damage. However, at higher levels, the necromancer will be able to deal more damage themselves, and their minions will be used for support purposes.

Another change that would help is the spirit priest minnion heal needs to be buffed massively and be instant.
Right now its way to little and extremely slow. If the minnions would heal 50% of life per priest summon instantly it would help alot and still be inline with a more active play style.
Also pets need to stop attacking damage immune mobs

A new patch has just been released for Diablo IV, and Iām excited to test it out and see how it affects the necromancer minion build.
Iāll be playing around with it for a while and will report back with my findings.

Here is some feedback for Diablo 4 Necromancer regarding minions (After the new patch):
- The recent patch did give some buffs to necromancer minions, but their life/hp is still extremely low. This makes them very vulnerable to damage, especially from mini bosses and bosses.
- Even when investing heavily in minion health and survivability, they still die very easily. This makes the necromancer class very difficult to play, as you are often left alone to fight bosses without any help.
- I believe that the necromancer minions need a significant health buff in order to be viable in combat. As it stands, they are simply too squishy and die too easily. This makes the necromancer class very difficult to play, and it needs to be addressed.
Here are some specific suggestions for how to improve the health of necromancer minions:
- Increase the base health of all necromancer minions by 50%.
- Increase the health of all necromancer minions by an additional 10% for every point invested in the minion health talent.
- Add a new passive skill that grants all necromancer minions a 25% damage reduction.
I believe that these changes would make the necromancer class much more viable and enjoyable to play. Thank you for your time.
In addition to the above, I would also like to suggest the following:
- Allow necromancers to customize their minions. Currently, all necromancer minions are the same. It would be great if necromancers could choose the type of minions they want to summon, such as skeletons, zombies, or golems.
I believe that these changes would make the necromancer class much more fun and versatile. Thank you for your time.

I will reiterate this on every summon forum thread.
Itās not about the defense, itās not about the health. Itās the base design of the skill.
They put the āmaintenanceā and the āsummonā skill on the same button. This inherently makes the skill worthless, as when you need to press the maintenance button it is wasted on the summon skill, and that summon skill has an animation associated with the skeleton rising, so you never get āahead on the treadmillā.
The āmaintenanceā skill, in-and-of-itself, is downright worthless. Itās 10% HP every 5 seconds. It doesnāt stack. Without addressing either the percentage, the over-time aspect, or it not stacking. It will always be worthless to begin with.

I had the complete opposite experience from you on Astaroth, I 1 shot him and had no minion issues.

No one believes you, youāre going to have to post a video of this before we take this comment seriously.
Iāll post a video on a next major boss fight I have so you can see. Didnāt really think i needed to record it. Only video I have is of a bugged quest that spawned like 10-15 elites and I killed them but my minions got destroyed lol.
So i played for a couple hours again andā¦,
During a boss fight, I was forced to stand behind a pole for almost the entire boss fight because my minions were getting deleted too quickly. Only my golem was able to stay alive due to its toughness and the ability I had set for it to regenerate health every few seconds. I donāt think standing behind a pole for 98% of the boss fight is intentional for a necromancer.
- The bossās attacks were too powerful for my minions to withstand.
- I tried to position my minions strategically, but the boss was always able to target them.
- I used my abilities to buff my minions, but it wasnāt enough to keep them alive.
- I eventually defeated the boss by using my golem and my own attacks.
I believe that the Necromancer class is designed to be played in a more aggressive manner, using minions to distract and weaken enemies while the player character deals damage from behind. However, in this fight, my minions were simply too weak to survive long enough to be of any use. As a result, I was forced to play defensively and rely on the Golem to tank damage.
My minions were constantly walking through the enemyās AoE attacks, not even trying to avoid them. This made it very difficult to keep them alive, and I eventually had to resort to using my own attacks to defeat the enemy.
- The enemyās AoE attacks were very large and difficult to avoid.
- My minions were not very intelligent and did not seem to understand the danger they were in.
- I tried to micro-manage my minions and tell them where to go, but it was not enough.
This fight was a frustrating experience, and I believe that it is due to the fact that the Necromancer class is not well-suited for this particular fight. I hope that in future updates, the developers will make changes to the Necromancer class so that it can be played more effectively in fights like these.
fyi, im currently a lvl 35 necromancer having a rough timeā¦

I could do that too on 2nd or 3rd attempt. I would be doing it at level 50 with 8 Legendaries supporting Bone Spear build⦠slow + stun + ultimate + Bone Spear crit while on Ultimate.
On first attempt while leveling with weak gear, just with any random Astaroth toying build could work.
