The game offers little to no incentive to team up with any player you may accidentally, rarely run into. People decline your invites, seems soloing is more profitable or something.
At the same time leveling and xp is really slow in general.
Doesn’t feel like a multiplayer game.
Why am I forced to be online to play it then?

I liked the way earlier versions did it: set your game to public if you want to deal with other players, set it to private if you don’t.
Join a discord community and make some friends.
Most people that randomly invite me in game ask for a boost or something, so I ignore them.
Discord is ineffective. I can sit here for all 2 hours I have free a day, I’ll not find people of my level to level with, no matter how many times I wait out the ten minutes between posts to post LFG again.
Yes, it’s perfect. Less multiplayer please and allow us to completely disable other people outside of towns.
I’d be all for that. Let people who want to play with others do so while others can just solo and be invisible to everyone else.

I’ve had no issues getting help when I asked for it. I like wondering into a large fight and helping out. If your xp has slowed, bump up a difficulty level.
