Feedback: Good game, but with frustrating flaws

First of all I’m not trying to attack the game in any way. I like the game, but I don’t love it because of its numerous flaws.

The gameplay loop is fun, but it can get repetitive when you play multiple hours without receiving even a slightest upgrade for your gear. But at the same time it feels good when you do receive that small upgrade.

I’m currently level 85 Barbarian and it feels like I’ve hit the wall with Nightmare Dungeon progression. I can easily complete Tier ~40 dungeons, but any higher than that it feels like I can’t progress any further. My gear is not perfect, because as I said getting any upgrades can take hours, but it’s not bad either. I feel like leveling up my Paragon Board is the only way for me to receive more power so that I can progress further, but even leveling feels sluggish because of how slowly we level up after 70+. (the recent patch that increased XP gain helps a little bit, but not enough)

But those are just minor things that bug me and that’s not what I’m writing this for.
Here is what really frustrates me with D4:

  • No Build loadouts ?!?
I’d like to switch builds for different activity, but respeccing without loadouts is really, really annoying.
  • Inbalanced classes
Some classes perform way better than some classes at the endgame. (I guess this is no surprise, because even after all these years Blizzard still doesn’t know how to balance their games properly)
  • Lack of viable builds
The game clearly allows players to make multiple builds, but it feels like each class only has 1-2 builds that are viable for the Endgame and Nightmare dungeons. (except for rogues, because rogues are gods and they have no bad builds)
  • Running the same exact Nightmare Dungeons is boring
To my understanding there are ~115 dungeons in the game, but only 30 of them can be Nightmare dungeons.
  • When you craft Nightmare Dungeon Sigils, some dungeons pop up more often than others. I’m tired of running same 4 dungeons all the time, because most of the times I receive a Sigil by either from crafting or loot drop its for one of those 4 same dungeons. (I’m tired of fighting Ghosts all the damn time !!! )
  • Those Archer Ghosts are too powerful. At 45+ dungeons they can one shot me even if I have all my defensive cooldowns active, because that special attack of theirs simply hits too hard and it has low reaction time.
  • Completing Tier 35+ Nightmare Dungeons should no longer reward players with Sacred items !
  • Some events in Nightmare Dungeons are not tuned properly.
Some of them are simply impossible to complete, because the NPCs that you need to defend die instantly.
  • Lack of enemy variety (D3 had bigger enemy variety at launch)
  • PvP is pointless with how unbalanced the classes are.
Go to PvP zone → get insta-gibbed by same level rogues/druids → rip
  • Gems take too much space and we have to wait till Season 2 for the upcoming Gem stash?1?
  • Elixirs and Sigils share the same inventory tab
  • Lack of Legendary Aspect inventory space.
  • I don’t want to re-grind Renown for each season, just to get those 20x extra Paragon points !
  • Crafting material nodes in open world should give more materials on higher World Tiers, because elixirs are essential for pushing higher Nightmare Dungeons and better elixirs take a lot of materials to craft.
  • Laggy/stuttering open world
  • Legendary item drops don’t feel special anymore, because of how the Legendary Aspects work.
  • Greed Shrine power is absolutely useless for how little gold it generates.
  • World bosses are meaningless content.
It takes half a day for one to respawn, so you have to be lucky if you want to kill one as it takes only 10 seconds to kill it. And the rewards are not worth it.
  • Corporate Greed !
Not only are the in-game cosmetics lame looking while the best looking cosmetics are paywalled, but the prices of those cosmetics are ridiculously high for a game that already has €70 entry fee !
~€25 for a single cosmetic set? Just…what?!? You can purchase fully developed indie games with that money for crying out loud ! These prices are not justified !
Shame on you Activision Blizzard for being so insanely greedy ! And shame on anyone who defends these prices !

It’s a rather long and even repetitive post to read for how long it is, but I just had to vent my frustration to the Devs.

I like the game, but there are just so many things that keep me from loving the game.

Don’t forget the lack of stash space and missing personal stashes.

I mean who had the idea to make only 4 shared stash tabs for 5 classes where 1 of them is required to store gems/Elixirs and 1 for Sigils.

Means 2 stash tabs for 5 classes and theyr own items…even a 23 year old ARPG has more storrage space than D4.

I think there are some restrictions in the code on how many stash tabs each player can have. It’s definitely more than 4 but i think they are saving the rest as rewards for buying expansions and earning them in seasons. That’s how they did it in D3. Of course I’m just speculating here.

I’m totaly fine with it as long as they give us some personal stash tabs for every character…having shared stash tabs only feels horrible if you want to play multiple chars/builds ond completely kills the overview.

But it is still a good game becoz youre still playing it.

I didn’t read the entire list, but I read enough to know that 90% of these issues can be resolved with time.

Patience is a virtue.

I mostly agree. +1

I do personally disagree with the following though.

  • I don’t want to re-grind Renown for each season, just to get those 20x extra Paragon points !

I do not believe this to be as bad as everyone makes it out to be. If you group up in a party for season start, you can reasonably farm all renown just during a region each with little effort. For me, this actually seems like a good variety to season start so it doesn’t devolve straight into NM dungeon farming.

You did not just go there! LOL! If there is a limitation with stash space because of code, then that just speaks to how bad this game engine is.
