Feedback from Class Balance

I think the balance is down in nerfs, several nerfs to the Sorc to its only Tier S build they have, nerf to the new Rogue passive, I feel that the barbarian is in a very weak state, the numbers in general have dropped drastically, I admit that I like that the game is more difficult and numbers down, I just hope that the balance has not gotten out of hand and that some classes feel too weak, and that only Spirit Born dominates, what do you think of the changes observed in the classes?

I think Rod already said that the Spiritborn is going to be OP.

Rod already told us months ago that the SpiritBorn will be OP

"Fergusson confirmed that the Spiritborn class will be “overpowered” and described it as being “broken in the most fun way.” "

Yes, I think so, but I feel that they lowered the power of some classes too much, that is, I agree that the Spiritborn shines, but I also do not agree that the other classes are obsolete, or very weak.

Yes, Rob said Spiritborn is S tier but everything else he is below that. He’s not even sure where to put them but definitely not S tier.

In a way I am happy because my prediction is true and I’m gonna be purposely playing an S tier class for the first time and not because by luck and some random chance due to random bug interactions.

On the other hand, if we set aside the Spiritborn class, I think all classes feels like more balanced (or the gap between meta has been considerably reduced). But I was hoping more of buffing the weak ones and slighly nerfing the strong ones. But it looks like the general atmosphere is massive nerfs to meta builds? I still have to read the patch notes

At this point it is clear Blizzard make new classes, heroes, cards etc. overpowered on release. It has happened over and over in WoW, Hots etc.

That is exactly how to balance a game.
Nerf those “S tier” builds. And A tier etc.
Maybe, but only maybe, buff those sub-F tier builds.

So I am sure Blizzard will do the opposite in a few weeks…

Winter glass was meant to be a frozen orb item not a lighting spear item

Read it carefully, they didn’t change it they swapped it with its inherent affix. This means it’s still there, but now also means it can’t roll as a GA, nor will it be improved by MW anymore.

They admitted Barb is weak in the livestream then said here little buddies we buffed some uniques. So you’re still weak till you get the uniques then you are less weak.

I haven’t gone through the patch notes yet. But the live stream did feel this way to me. They acknowledged it is weak, then spoke about a few buffs to the weakest skills and a defensive passive. I’ll start with Spiritborn and let some other poor soul work out if Barb is worth playing, if not I’ll go Rogue for alt.

Also the uniques they buffed are still… not good. Like, at all.
Nobody is gonna care about Hellhammer until Upheaval gets some faster animations. And nobody is gonna care about Twin Strikes until we can actually use DS as way of dealing damage, not just procc’ing Dust Devils.

New class being TNT in the rock paper scissors game is not news or unique to Blizzard or Diablo :stuck_out_tongue:

I will be starting off S6/VoH with my beloved sorc in spite of the nerfs but i’m sure i’ll make a SB at some point.

Looking to make spiritborn first since will be super op and fun. Then looking at sorc to see how balance went there.

1] JasonBorn. Looking at eagle eagle build with dodge and evade and autocast on evade and stuff like that. Super mobile and fast build for everything but bosses maybe>?

2] Some sort of sorc when bored with spiritborn. Probably charged bolt as there is a new juicy charge bolt aspect. No name figured out yet. Halp me with it!

Eh, it’s not as cut and dry as people think, honestly. Like DK in WoW took off like a rocket, for sure, but Monk actually got massive buffs in the middle of MoP and still didn’t have a lot of people playing it towards the end. It launched totally flat.
DH was hyped pretty hard for Legion, but was kinda eh. The tank class was pretty bad and the DPS spec felt like a poor man’s Rogue by the end of it.

Also I quit WoW after BFA, so I can’t comment on the Dragonman class but I’ve heard mixed things about them as well.

Honestly, I think DK launching so broken has messed with people’s perception on how Blizzard makes new classes in games. It was really only them that came out of the gate just blatantly superior.

If you want to use D3, then Crusader launched pretty badly, because that class was (and still is, actually) incredibly dependent on CDR, which didn’t come super easily at RoS’s early days. Necro was alright, but then their sets got massive buffs which took them to number 1 after about a month, if I remember right.

that is one take on it. or you could see it as being meant to be used with any conjuration focused build.

The Blizzard balance team are terrible at their jobs.
