I have a lvl 100 Eternal and a lvl 89 Seasonal Character. i recognized that i fell asleep while NM Dungeons and also while Helltides. After teleporting into the city cause of full bags, i forget to keep on doing the the content i started, sometimes even with NMDs. After recognizing the Worldboss Timer, i often forget it even after putting a Worldmarker for a reminder.
Never experienced anything like that with diablo 3 or other games. i assume it has something to do with the game design, cause everything looks kind of the same, colorpatterns, monstertyps, enviremental design.
Just wondering anyone else has similar experinces…
Many people have reported the same thing. I experienced it when I played this game. It’s a combination of the game just being boring and everything that you listed:
Also, you spend ~50% of your time just walking instead of fighting. Sorting through an inventory of rare items is far from fun. Homogenous colors and design create a dull atmosphere. If you have the music on, the screechy wanna-be nordic-spa music is sleep inducing. The camera is too zoomed in.
repetitive game play is part of it, but the part that’s somewhat unique to Diablo4 is an incredibly low contrast palette. You have greyscale, and you have brown and red and those are notoriously low contrast against greyscale. That’s why Hitchcock had to use Hershey’s syrup for blood in black and white movies.
Low contrast means more eye strain and less visual stimulation.
low contrast + super repetitive = sleep inducer.
I’m pretty sure Blizzard works for the CIA to develop human APIs to control the amygdala.
Thats a very good point. It costs a lot of concentration to scan fast through the items to reduce the downtime, but marginal upgrades takes a lot of time and breaks the gameflow and distracts it at the same time.
The reduced inventory slots forces us to prioritize the itemization over the game content.
Actually I have to say, the entire game looks and feels depressing. Compared to D1 and D2, which were moody and dark but not depressing, this game is the visual equivalent of DSBM metal.
On a similar note, has D4 induced neck pain for anyone else? I typically never get neck pain, even during 6-hour extended WoW raids. But this game causes massive neck strain in as little as an hour.
