Extra experience after level 100

Is there any information about changes in leveling? In particular, I am most interested in what the developers plan to do with the “extra experience” after level 100 ?
They can think of many ways to use this extra experience.
They can enter extra paragon levels based on the amount of experience 1 to 5

For what reasons? infinite paragon was one of the worst things in D3.

I did like d3 paragon system a lot, it kept me playing for a long time , looking for the perfect rolled items

It’s high time to figure out what to do with the extra experience, but they stubbornly don’t notice this.

  • “infinite” progression that provides only mats, ToW, cosmetic → why not
  • “infinite” progression that provides power, stats → NO !

I would like infinite progression that grant more power, why not?

Yeah, I think blizzard made a big design fail when saying after dont know… 50 hrs your character is finished and the only content are alts.
Diablo used to be a game people are grinding hundreds of hrs with the same character during one season.
It’s just stupid to say, this character is finished.
With the last seasons and especially with S4 Blizzard makes some really good steps to go into the other direction.
And I appreciate this.
Let’s wait for some more improvements in longterm progression systems.
I think this would be cool.
Maybe some sort of… “master talent tree” that starts at level 100.

I’d also add some extra power you earn for each class that reached lvl 100 in the season, just to encourage playing all classes.
In general I like the idea of getting more powerfull the more you play, compensate the grinders

Only Diablo 3 … now lets list pros and cons of infinite power.

Pros :

  • players don’t feel like they are wasting there time. Well… playing a video game can be considered wasting time. It’s a entertainment after all, not a job.

Cons :

  • promotes botting
  • stuff becomes meaningless, only for multiplier
  • game design needs to be tuned around infinite scaling
  • promotes only S tier build to be efficient, so playing alts or fun build just feels bad

i desagree with this

and this

bc its irrelevant to the legit player why someone decides to bot or not

for everything else i agree

i would have no problem in earning more paragon points after 100
paragon in this game is caped

-i don’t care about people botting, not my business
-What do you mean with stuff becomes meaningles, only for multiplier?
-That’s Blizzard problem, not yours
-You can play whatever you want , wou’re free to do it

So you’re cons are cons in your opinion, I feel otherwise.

infinite level is a lazy alternative to the lack of creativity to solve the game design problem. it seems easier to leave the level infinite to give an illusory feeling of progression than to create content that holds the player like other games can

Infinite paragon literally gave players a purpose to farm. The system is fine, What failed is the dull mainstat gain only oppose to others more meaningful stats.

I also think that Developers need to make an endless Paragon (at least at the rate of 5 points to 1 after level 100) but only in the Seasonal World. The problem of bots is a problem that developers need to solve.

extra paragon lvl was the worst idea in D3. Your power not depend anymore about your gear loot/craft, but about farming XP parangon… That was boring AF

Like I mention in every similiar topic.

EXP to somewhere after 100 is ok BUT it has to be something else than power gain.

It would lead to situation where PL lvl would be most important thing and with every lvl gear will be less and less important.

It should be something like atlas from POE.

  • more gold
  • more elites in content
  • better chance for UU
  • better chance for GA
  • better chance for target item type etc

So you still have some progress outside of gear but it would not directly boost your character.

Would love something like that. Right now there I am also lossing interest to play after lvl 100 and better start new class.

But not only PoE. I would take a lot of things from Lost Arc… Collecting the atlas, raids, searching for the ark, going through the mine (unfortunately this process is more exciting than the Pit), etc.

Without a doubt, the game has become much better and more interesting. For me personally, there are only a few problems, these are:

  • few characters,
  • boring after level 100 (there is nothing to do)
  • and a problem with experience after level 100.

i have a lot of fellow ex D3 players that love the paragon system, they love creating a seasonal character then transfer all the exp/loots after season ends.

but… im not sure if this is what what i want from D4.

D3 already have it, go play D3.

Cons : * stuff becomes meaningless, only for multiplier

what? No

  • game design needs to be tuned around infinite scaling

it doesn’t. The game can be in the same state as right now.

  • promotes only S tier build to be efficient, so playing alts or fun build just feels bad

on the contrary, the game RIGHT NOW promotes only S tier builds to be efficient because good luck soloing a T61, Lilith or a Tormented boss with a Chain-Lightning build for example. On the other hand if killing more mobs is a surefire way to keep improving your character, then you can play any weaker build and as long as you inject enough time into the game, you’ll eventually do it. This translates into both more build diversity as opposed to being pigeonholed into certain classes and builds, and a reason to keep playing. I’m sick and tired of these 3 months seasons that you complete in only 2 weeks.

The truth why the devs don’t do it is they want to tightly control your power so the power you’ll gain in the upcoming expansions will feel like a very pleasant never-seen-before boost (in other words they make the game worse as part of their long-term money-making schemes). I’m ok with that, they need to make the game profitable after all, but the problem is not only that the builds are unbalanced (and I’d be okay with builds being unbalanced if through work you could make weaker builds powerhouses), but they also set the bar way too low for big players like me. They think too much about the casuals who only play 1 hour a week or so to ensure they can reach max power and complete the season journey in the 3 months period, and that leaves people like me (and I’m far from the only one since Diablo has always been a series for no-lifers) unsatisfied.
