Besides super buffing health and fortification, is there any counter play to this other than just not stop running? It’s bearable, it’s just kind of annoying to randomly be randomly looting and one mob on the side of the screen either runs in or dies and a sword falls on my head and one shots. I’m a necro doing a minion build 18k hp and running earthen bulwark with my mages doing fortifications and nothing I have survives it. I am running at torment 8. I’m not sure this mechanic is able to be tanked, or is it a certain damage type?
My Necro juuuuust hit 70 and has 15k HP.
Your HP is far too low. I’d suspect your other defensive stats are as well.

In T8 I had like 37K health, with barrier and fortify and I could get hit by one of them, but it would eat deep into my health pool, like almost half. So “don’t get hit by them” is the only play.
