You’re quite exaggerating. Killing the Butcher is fairly easy on my 75 sorc, as is farming Nightmare dungeons that are 10-15 levels above me. I’m not even using any of the builds you listed or the builds on maxroll.
But some of what you say is true.
Compared to other classes, Sorc has middling damage and no survivability. Every sorc build is required to take a minimum of 3 out of the 4 defensive skills. Don’t even get me started on how bad Sorc is for PVP.
Damage reduction from resistance caps out at 30%(which a player will realistically never hit).
50% resist from 0 resist brings you to 15% damage reduction, another 50% brings you to 22.5% and so on.
That’s why resistance sucks.
The problem with these topics is no one knows what the OP is talking about in terms of pushing NM dungeons (and how high), regular content or what.
Simply posting a maxroll tier list isn’t helpful at all.
I’d assume sorc gets hard past tier 75 or so just because of the necessary chest item that has 0 defensive stats, coupled with how resistances work in torment. Your only items are going to be legs and neck for defensive stats.
I also don’t know if tier 100 was designed to be pushed solo so there’s that ¯_(ツ)_/¯
They can offer some good utility regardless with the chest armor unique and frost nova vulnerable tagging
does no one play frozen orb/blizzard? Im only 51 but T3 is easier than late T2 so far. (I did the T2 capstone at 48). I did get lucky with a sacred weapon drop right away but I never died during the campaign until the Act 4/5 bosses. And bosses that can’t be frozen are the only difficult enemies. everything else is frozen and vulnerable almost all the time.
of course it could just scale terribly later on

Op is talking about maxroll, it has 0 s tier and rightfully so since it sucks at high tier nm dungeons compared to others
The issue with Sorc is they need alot of stats on gear for them to be competitive in pushing higher tier NM.
Blizzard, give sorc better options in paragon board or skill tree to balance damage vs survivability vs sustain… we’re literally getting one shot off screens because we MUST run Raiment of the Infinite to do a setup combo to deal 1/8th of the damage a barb can do while sprinting and spinning between mobs…

Because they have no armor.
Armor mitigates ALL damage and they have none really.
You can’t get much on sorc compared to other classes.
So they are fragile in high nightmare.
Now this doesn’t add up to me… it kinda is a bit of a contradiction

The crazy thing is one shots aren’t done by butcher nono… it’s by normal white mobs sometimes even off screen

The bosses don’t do any damage to a sorc. Most elites don’t either.
