NOT 1% is 1% for everyone. This won’t change anything. Same goes for buffs. Staff damage over time went from 40% to 100%. This won’t change for incinerate. A buff of less than 1%. All current metas have been nerfed. So for the first time we will have metas and non-metas very close together. This is what everyone wants.
I don’t believe we should ever be 1 shotting bosses. It’s a boss. You are doing damage during the immunity phases you are not just afk waiting around as other players would suggest. Games have phases where you have to kill adds(monsters) during boss fights.
No other games let you 1 shot bosses. Even when you put the game on kindergarten easy mode. Season 6 caused players to lose respect for the game’s bosses.
“Power fantasy” This is Diablo. It is not 1 punch man. There is a 1 punch man game.
good reason to cool off from d4 a bit, nothing wrong with it
The tempering nerfs are not as bad as they seem…yet, wait to see it on the PTR.
The additive stuff, goes into a Big Additive (multiplier)…until you see what the size of the total number in that Multiplier is reduced to with all the changes from all the sources that feed that number…the % change is unknown but still likely to be very small compared to the total number in that multiplier.
It may be significant, but you can’t look at it as additive CritDmg went down by 30% (this is just a made up scenario) so my damage will go down by that much…becuase it depends on how big of a percentage change that is against the TOTAL Additive number, given all of your criteria in that moment…
Vs like something where they change the % damage of a skill, because that total number is generally just the Avg Damage Per Hit from your weapons * whatever percentage is next to the skill. So a skill going from 30% to 60% is a bigger % change for this multipler than something of the same value numerically in the Total Additive.
The exception will be Tempers to passives which have multipliers associated with them. You will need to look at these on a case by case basis…guaranteed something will still be broken that people can use. ![]()
Yes some of these changes can end up being really dumb becuase they won’t make sense relative to the other changes of the same category. And they will probably fix those when they are pointed out. Hopefully. Maybe… ![]()
And the Caps…well not a fan of capping but you just have to look at it like, this is now a Multiplier (x) of whatever the cap number is…is it bigger than my alternative? As opposed to let’s see how high I can get this number based on my cleverness. Which, you know was nice…but they don’t seem to be able to predict the range of those or an upper bound even.
I’m sure someone has made a spread sheet and plugged in numbers already…but I will just wait for PTR to see what it is like. I looked at the list. There is no need to panic yet. Yes the upper end numbers will be smaller. As long as the builds are closer then it makes it easier for them to balance the environment if needed.
it’s still nerfs no matter what so end result is lower and lower pit levels for every single build.
what’s their real goal here? limit us to max pit 65 or something?
I don’t know it might be.
But I don’t think it is.
I think they are just trying to bring the upper end of the number ranges down to where they make sense in the game.
I would be really surprised if no one could get past 65 say, as in your example, that Blizzard would not then re-adust the Environment variables a bit. They don’t want a game that no one can feel good about. But think they are trying to move away from trivial.
at this point, i have zero faith that is even a thing. they don’t care if the game is fun. they only care if they can sell boxes and mtx on nostalgia for as much money as possible. the whole point of these changes i figure is to slow us down so much that we are too busy spinning in circles with a boring grind than question why after 2 years there is still no good end game.
If this is the case this will be their undoing as there are alternatives for people now.
I think Rob said in his video the numbers are already in the planner sites so you can probably go there (Maxroll) and plug some in to get a better idea of what it might look like.
I don’t mind all the nerfs IF they also nerf monster scaling (it’ll be another needed stat squish.) Please at least revert to the old pit scaling so all builds will be able to farm pit 100.
Because those that said “if you want to be part of that 10% in T4 you can be” were always lying to you. If Blizzard did have sights on such a metric they will simply nerf the players until they achieve it.
Given these nerfs are game wide, and not specifically targeted at only a few builds, it appears that the S8 changes to progression were not sufficient in the eyes of Blizzard. Maybe it’s not about rate of progression and they just wanted another stat squish, but we’ve yet to see the corresponding decrease in monster health.
They did this in S1 and you know what happened then.
I prefer to call it Season 1: Reborn. Where they learn from their mistake and never nerf like that again. Never give us too much medicine without sugar again. At least until they decide to do it again.
That’s what I keep thinking to myself…do these people just forget that they tried this before and it failed miserably?
How do you make the same major mistake twice here?
This is part of why they do it. Their swing meta BS. Thing is that if they did proper balance from the beginning of the game, they would have achieved a decent balance long ago. They could still do swing meta’s. It’s just the meta wouldn’t be astronomical. Maybe 10 pit levels. Most people wouldn’t complain about that. The people that like to change it up every season and push could still do so. The people that like certain builds could stick with them and push close enough.
They also flip flop their minds all the time. One minute its about casuals and blasters and they want people to be able to blast. I hate that term “blaster” but thats what people use so whatever. Then its people are getting done too fast and they want to slow the game way down. There is no stability to the game. They change their minds every couple seasons.
If their goal is to get people to play full seasons, it isn’t going to work. Most people are not going to want to deal with the slog. Just like it at launch/season 1. When numbers show that they will have emergency streams again and flip flop again. Most people do not play full seasons on a 2 year old game that offers little new content outside of some copy paste powers and a meta change. When they do things like this is just repeating the same content but now worse.
Personally, I don’t care what direction they go. Just pick a direction, stick with it, and live with the results. Flip flopping just shows weakness in development team and lack of stability with the game. My preference is they balance the builds to be within 10 pit tiers of the meta and then balance the world around it. Also that everyone should be able to do at least pit 100 to level glyphs. If they have to add 1 more tier to keep the outside world balanced to that pit level then do that.
so in other words, lets make everyone shiiiit which means no one is shiiiit… good logic
When the way they design the content is that they expect you to run those things 1000s of time, then yeah it’s bad. If they were one offs or even occasional things then that would be ok.
One of the reasons I like PoE 2 is because the bosses are fun. I’m not expected to run them 1000s of times though.
Man so much truth… couldn’t agree more …
well said well said !
I agree, Soluss summed it up nicely.
The fact they made us wait two months for that pathetic “road map” added to my suspicion that there is very little planning ahead or communication at that company.
Pick a lane, tell us what it is (and why) and we will decide if it’s still worth our time.
Yes.
No. Many classes can get cheap Overpower abilities either in the Skill Tree ir Paragon Boards.
Start stacking Overpower%, Life, and Fortify, then Bob’s your uncle.
You can do billions/trillions without those. Absolutely unneeded. My S7 Necro had zero of those mythics listed, and still hit for 3.5T.
they do it on purpose, then adjust it back to slightly higher during the real season, and we fools end up so grateful that we kneel down to thank these losers.
