I need some official confirmation that making a macro to repeatedly hit evade while holding down a key is ToS or not. I know that blizzard has always taken that stance in the past with every other game, but people are saying that certain content creators who I won’t name but are Diablo Partners, are saying they have been told that its perfectly fine to do, so I need some official Blue confirmation and not just a bunch of people playing he said she said.
you wont get one here. Try pestering them on twitter. Thats where you will get a response if you are lucky.
“Diablo partners” have a completely different set of ToS applicable to them…
if you’re not one of them, rest assure you will be putting your account in jeopardy if you use anything of the sort.
it is of course break of tos. it is a third party software that you use to automate clicks. as simple as that. streamers and other bliz fanboys are treated differently, so they normally use it without issues.
button mash macros have always been ok.
but macros to play combos / bot are not
is what i believe is the case here
i just crashed my infernal horde for hitting space bar a billion times i think lol so thought about using a macro for evade also
This or num-lock is ok.
See even already I’ve got multiple people on both sides saying yes and no. And I’m not saying that this content creator was just using it, but rather telling everyone that its ok to use it which is a lot more concerning, I don’t want my guildies to get banned lol. I don’t care what the creator does themselves
Also, Button mash macros, or making a button repeatedly hit a key while holding it, has NOT always been ok in blizzard games and was considered a form of botting many times during many ban waves, there is a lot of evidence and notation of this. I’m not saying in diablo specifically, just blizzard in general
macros are against the tos. the general rule is 1 button press is 1 action.
of course everyone can decide for himself if hes willing to take that risk. But yea, as others have pointed out, you wont get a seperate confirmation, other than what is pointed out in the ToS.
Yeah those are exactly the assumptions that I started with, which is why its so troublesome that a prominent content creator with thousands of average viewers who is a diablo partner so they assumedly have open channels of communication have said in the past couple days that its completely ok to do so.
well i didnt see, or hear someone like this saying that but im also not big in the stream watching game to be honest.
In the end it doesnt matter what they say. they arent the ones to enforce the rules.
I personally would always be very careful with such stuff. after all we see threads every now and then about people who are banned “for doing nothing” you know ^^
Don’t listen to them using any macros or auto-press software. You may be banned.
If you are on Window 10 or 11, use Num-lock or the Filter Keys function with a custom repeat time from 0.3s to 2s depending on you.
Macro at your own risk.
Why would this be considered “illegal”? My thumb literally hurts from a half hour sesh on this build.
This game is not competitive whatsoever. You can level up your character in less than 3 hours and get the best loot in the game in a day. Why make this “illegal” when it makes absolutely no difference to anyone or anything in the game.
OP, do this:
- Buy a mouse with a free-spinning mouse wheel. I like the Razer Basilisk v3, but there are others.
- Bind evade to mouse wheel.
And you’re done.
You say this in one sentence and then say:
which is literally the exact same thing just using windows software. Whether you use windows or logitech gaming software to bind a key to repeat at intervals while held or an autohotkey macro it’s all the exact same thing.
Either any of them are allowed or none of them.
If you’re not a streamer then yes, you’re breaking ToS
Have a nice day and remember to buy some plat
What are you talking about? Filter Keys is a Window OS feature for keyboard not a software or macro.
Some people conflate “macro” with simple repetition as opposed to an automated sequence of different actions which is a typical macro. Either way in an official capacity any automation that is more than one action per key press is against the TOS but there are various things you can do that people get away with. As someone else said. Macro at your own risk. You’ll probably be fine but you could get flagged.
Yep! It may need confirmation from the game developer but the way Auto software/Macro works and the Filter keys feature of Window OS are completely different.
-
Auto software/Macro is just a simulation program: they will capture all your key press or mouse click events > through shared functions in the dynamic-link library (.dll) to send the key code > to the current actived App like D4. There are 3 layers in total: User > Macro > App
-
Window Filter keys is a system feature that allows it to directly intervene in the keyboard hardware and its behavior is turned on and off continuously as if a person pressed the key directly. There are 2 layers in total: User > App
Macros are ToS breaking since they fall under botting.
Gotta use the “bind to scroll wheel” method instead to maximize clicks.
