So when trying to take the portal to the next escalation sigil dungeon, if it is one you didnt unlock via stronghold, it kicks you out into the overworld and you lose the sigil

This just happened to me too. Teleported me to the not completed stronghold and bricked my only escalation sigil.
So this is the culprit… just wasted two of mine to be kicked out of both after killing the boss in the second layers. Super neat. -_-
it didn’t even give me the chance to loot. soon as the boss died it immediately went to a loading screen and sent me to the stronghold
In all honesty Strongholds should be part of the content that is cleared once and you never have to clear again. They really don’t add much value to the world content nor do they have good rewards in the grand scheme of things.
Had that happen to me a few times too, it’s really annoying because the sigil is just wasted
