Escalating NMD loot only at the end after final escalation or how does it work

So, maybe Im missing some here but do fill me in…

This escalating NMD thing has 3 NMD linked together as each one becomes harder with stacking affixes so on so forth whatever all that is understood,

If I recall watching the PTR video, you don’t get loot until you kill Astorath at the end is this true ?

What if someone unable to finish all 3 stages of escalation ? I mean NMD has a limit and death count correct ? Then what ? the player just wasted their time and sigil ?

Or say unable to kill the final boss in after stage 3 , Astoroth …the player just went through 3 stages of NMD and came out with what nothing ???

Welcome to the world of Loot Boxes in Diablo Games. One of the many things that never belonged in this series.

It’s just more NMD tacked on from my understanding. So you should still get loot drop as normal from ‘completing’ each NMD up until the last one. So elites and the bosses that you would normally find will still drop loot for you, it’s just the big bad at the end of it all will drop even more.

As it stands now we don’t get much from NMD aside from some obducite and random legendaries if we’re lucky.

You get loot from mobs like in normal NMDs, you get loot from boss fights at the end of a NMD and you get loot after killing the boss in stage 4.
You will also get loot from chests that will appear due to the affixes of the escalating NMD.

For more XP, XP globes will drop sometimes/often from mobs and you will find an XP well.
For more gold, chest with gold in it will appear through the NMD, the same for obols.

Because the escalating sigils might be rare, you should do some normal NMDs before that to test your builds.

I mean, NMDs are like normal dungeons with those hazards… Now they stack (along with loot ?, that’s neat, never realized that they said that  ), and you play 3 in a row

Yes, completing dungeons also gave 4 extra pieces of loot (usually nicer) but even without that loot exists in them (it’s not like the Pit where the whole run is win or bust)
