Ok, I have an idea that I would like to float out there.
Equipment obtained on your main character is not friendly to share with anyone besides those around your level. How do you make equipment more Alt/new player friendly.
Current equipment for players is limited by the level of the character it is obtained on. So it’s usefulness is limited to those who are the same level of the item that dropped. making it almost useless/lack luster to use low level characters. (example: you have a 2-handed mace that drops that has great stats for a Hota barb but it is level 100. because it dropped for your level 100 druid. you now need to level your barb to 100 to use said item. not going to lie that kind of makes it a bit underwhelming to get said item.
I propose this.
-
Keep the item level requirement but lower the requirement to lvl 80. (level 100 is pointless for an alt or a new player and main players you already cap item power around 840. Items around 840 item power level can drop around level 60 there is no point in going to a level requirement of 100 if potential item power level is accessible at 60.)
-
Use minimum player level requirements for world tier equipment and make all equipment restricted by world Tier completion of capstone dungeons. limiting items this way makes it so people below a certain player level can not access over powered equipment. (this is so people in world tier 2 do not get access to world tier 3 items or a world tier 4 items and over power lower levels of the game and throws the game off balance because of the monsters auto level adjustment. This would also give a sense of progression and allows for the players to still work towards a goal.)
-
Introduce item power level auto adjustments. This one is a little hard to explain. but think Heirloom gear from World of warcraft. the item levels with you as you level your character. This should also play with Item power level break points.
4)Mark the equipment with a world tier symbol to identify what world tier it is from.
Example of how all of this works:
Take the Hota barb Hammer from the example up top. it is max item level 80 instead of 100. it is item power 830. So it hit the max break point of 725 item power. so it already has the max rolled potential applied to the gear.
you have made a new barb and worked your way through the world tiers back to world tier 4. but you are level 60. you are now able to equip this new hammer. BUT the items full potential would be lowered to your level so you are level 60 needing to be level 80 to fully unlock the items power level. this also auto adjust the prefixes and affixes percentages on the equipment to a lower fraction of what it originally dropped at. the percentages and power of the item goes up till you have hit Max item level requirement (level 80). this goes for if the equipment is level 79 or 78 what ever the items max level is ,is the level the equipment goes back to having its full stats.
Thoughts? Ideas? please keep this from pure negative no this wont work. if you think it will not work provide reasoning why and an alternative. i would like to spark discussion on the player level requirement on gear not just be negative.
