Re: Four (IV) Suggestions to Blizzard Devs and Creative Team for Diablo IV - with the first suggestion to allow all D4 Players to choose a side in the wars in Sanctuary - where players can choose from three different Factions in the beginning of the first campaign - and other suggestions as described in this post -

Hi Blizzard D4 Team and Community!

I made many suggestions for Blizzard to consider for Diablo IV on this forum a while ago, and one of them was about giving players a choice early on in the Diablo IV campaign to join one of three (3) different Factions that support either Lilith, Inarius or the Horadrim and players can switch it up and change Factions later too, but for a penalty! Hehe! This would be super epic and awesome, in my opinion. If Blizzard did something like this with Diablo IV it can be very fun, rewarding and unique vs any game out there, not to mention the new content and the creation of three new Factions in the game can make the experience truly unique and epic for Diablo IV - especially considering how repetitive the game play is at the moment and not much end game content other than running the Pit, even though the game has improved in many ways since launch. I believe D4 can be so much better, and Blizzard can make it so, if they choose!

The Ideas and Suggestions for the Blizzard D4 Team to Consider:

The suggestion I made to Blizzard for Diablo IV a while back is to make it a lot more interesting and unique, and not make it typical starting with the first campaign and storyline. This new content would allow all D4 players during the first campaign to either accept Lilith’s offer and join her twisted crusade in Sanctuary, or fight against her and her devilish world alongside Inarius, or the Hero-Champion D4 Player chooses to be independent and fights against both Lilith and Inarius, and joins the Horadrim. This would create three (3) separate, unique Factions that would become rivals in PvP and world events in the game, like in WoW, but not exactly. There would be the Crusaders for Lilith Faction, the Crusaders for Inarius Faction, and the Champions of Light Faction, which would be Independent and would become allies with the Horadrim. * The content for something like this along with any added storyline would be SUPER-EPIC, and can be awesome, fun and unique as the D4 Hero-Champion progresses in the game and storyline. So, instead of playing the typical one-way road with no way to choose in the first campaign, with this new game option and content, it would open up a brand new epic world for Diablo IV in many different ways. Adding something like this to D4 would definitely spice the game up, BIG TIME! You reading this, Blizzard D4 Team!? - I sincerely hope Blizzard considers it and adds it to the next expansion. It would be awesome, for sure! There would be no shortage of content or end game content for D4 if Blizzard did this. It can also take the game to a brand new level of epic fun and give D4 some new and exciting direction for all D4 players to enjoy. It certainly can be done, if Blizzard is willing. :star_struck: :+1:

The last 3 Ideas and Suggestions I have for Blizzard are:

  1. On New Content: Add some more fun and rewarding events in both the Season and Eternal Realm, and make some exclusive content for max level players aside from just doing Pit runs, and make it rewarding and worth while, and most importantly, make it fun!

  2. D4 Game Leveling and Progression Season 7: Although I’m actually enjoying D4 Season 7, this new Season needs to be slowed down a bit. D4 needs to have a better and more balanced game progression that is fun, epic and rewarding, but not like D3 where leveling is way too fast. That is just ridiculous. I rather grind a bit - but not an awful boring and repetitive grind as before, but also enjoy the game and explore the new season. I suggest for Blizzard to give players some cool and fun new content to enjoy as well and tone down the speedy progression (XP), which is just way too fast this season. It should take players at least 1 to 2 weeks to get to max level and then start progressing paragon levels, but having players level up too fast is not good at all. No one likes a boring, repetitive grind that is not rewarding or fun, but a fun, rewarding grind that has some fun, cool, epic events and some exclusive content for max level players would definitely make the game progression and experience a lot better for all D4 Players, based on what I have experienced myself and from feedback players posted about their experience since D4 came out in June 2023. Blizzard, has improved the game a lot since D4 launched and that is appreciated, but more unique, fun, epic and rewarding content and events are needed in Diablo IV. Keep improving the game, Blizzard D4 Team! You can do it!

  3. Old Issue On Fog Weather Effects in Diablo IV: Since Diablo IV launched in June 2023, the obstructing views in the screen during game play caused by the overly excessive Fog effects in Diablo IV is very annoying and disruptive, especially when a Player can barely see their own character lol. This happens often during game play, and it is not good. I have to constantly play with graphic settings to adjust, or leave the area in the map where the fog weather effect is too excessive. I strongly suggest that Blizzard consider adding a simple Toggle On and Off Option for Players to Turn Off Fog Weather Effects in the game, because the current Reduce Strobing Option in GamePlay Settings doesn’t help much at all. I posted about this a few times before and hope Blizzard does something to correct this. It would make the game a lot more pleasant and clear for players to experience and see in the screen during game play. Don’t get me wrong, the graphics are awesome on Ultra mode in D4 via PC, but the excessive Fog weather effects just ruins it when it pops up in different areas in Sanctuary. I hope Blizzard fixes and addresses this issue sooner than later, because I actually enjoy the game!

That is all for now. I have more ideas and suggestions for Diablo IV and the Blizzard D4 Team, and will share them before this season is over. With that said, I’m gonna go catch up on some D4 - Season 7 game play before my girl beats me to it! Cheers and Happy Sunday Gaming all! - JJ -

I don’t really like your first idea. Diablo, the game, should always be about heroes fighting evil, not joining it’s side. I’m totally down for more video games where you can be evil but I feel like Diablo shouldn’t be that.

I appreciate your feedback and comment. Thank you.

However, after sharing this idea with some friends, they love the idea and think it would give D4 a huge boost not only in new game content, but can also give Diablo IV a new level of game play, and giving D4 players more freedom to choose their own path in the storyline and overall game would be epic and fun. But to each thier own, friend. -

Actually, it does not go against the story’s core. Quite the contrary, friend. The idea of giving all D4 players the freedom to choose their own path and journey in the storyline is what would make it epic and awesome. Good and Evil are choices made by humans, so to bring that into the realm and storyline of Diablo IV would be pretty epic, fun and amazing, not to mention the extra content that can be added for allowing three different Factions in the game can also include epic rewards for both season game players and Eternal Realm players. It can be super-epic and fun, but again to each their own. Just sharing my suggestions. Cheers! - JJ -

I want to live in a universe where everyone understands how impossible that actually is.

When you beat the final boss that’s it. The game does not go forever. And the reason I can’t stand this request is because no one in the history of mankind has every figured out how to do this. People play games they like for as long as they like and they generate their own endgame. An example? There’s no end-game to Dark Souls or Elden Ring except you now running around butt naked in a no-hit 1 str challenge no spell challenge. That’s the “end game” of that game.

The only thing that Blizzard could do is grant players significantly more agency but ironically that means that we’re back to “play for the sake of playing” because, to emphasize and reiterate, developers can’t actually make infinitely long games. The games you return to are just games you happen to really like. The challenges once surmounted are over.

It’s nice that’s what you and your friends want but it goes directly against the story’s core. Even Necromancers, usually depicted as evil in media, are good in Diablo.

I respectfully disagree, but I appreciate your comment, friend. The suggestions I made in my post for Blizzard are very doable, and that is why I made them. Cheers! - JJ -

But not a single soul explains how to do it.

Would players be required to join one of those three factions? Would we have the agency to not join one, & not feel left out of the goodies that joining one would bring? I ask, because none of those factions interest me.

Hi livejazz1623!

It’s funny you ask, considering all D4 Players are required to join forces with the Horadrim by default in the current and existing Diablo IV game, which means D4 players have only one option to choose from at the present moment.

With my idea and suggestion to Blizzard to consider adding this super-epic and potentially awesome faction feature and content to the game, would give players more freedom to choose who’s side to fight for in D4. It would also expand the choice players would have in D4 by adding the two additional factions in the game, and more factions can be added in future expansions. So to answer your question, yes, players need to make a choice during the middle of the first campaign and storyline. This gives players a lot more freedom to choose which side to fight for in Diablo IV, which we do not have right now. We only have one choice and one side to join forces with, and that is for the Horadrim by default, and that doesn’t interest you, so this would be a good thing for D4 overall, because players would have more options to choose from and future expansions can add more factions that may interest you.

Keep in mind, this is just an idea and suggestion for Blizzard to consider to add more content for Diablo IV, and it is simply a starting concept and example to work from, considering the limitations and lack of content the game has now. So, by having two additional factions for players to choose from in the early compaign and storyline makes everything a lot more unique, interesting and potentially epic depending on how Blizzard rolls it out, if they actually consider doing it.

As I mentioned before, to each their own, but if you didn’t realize, all D4 players are required to join one side in the battle for Sanctuary, which is the Hordrim side by default in the current storyline and game, in case you didn’t realize. Cheers! - JJ -

I think we need more places to challenge our builds. Pits are nice, but we should have something similar like PoE 2 Pinnacle bosses in the game.

My suggestion: Recycle all the campaign bosses and turn them into a pinnacle boss system, that is supposed to be a gigantic seasonal challenge.

Yea, but to be honest it doesn’t feel that way, like it did in D3. It’s more like I’m a mercenary than an agent of the faction. I’m not interested in making it explicit, but thank you for your explanation.

Well, you have to think differently about it: You don’t reach max level at level 60, just like you didn’t reach max level before season 6, when the level cap was 100. You reach max level at paragon level 300. Leveling to paragon 300 will take you many, many hours, so I wouldn’t worry about leveling too much. I agree though that the seasonal progression feels weird. Like I rush to torment 4, I get oneshot a while, and then suddenly I’m an OP overlord, who oneshots everything.

There might be a lot to unpack here… but thankfully, the devs disagree with you. Granted, you can still believe this to be true, and it wouldn’t ruin anything, nor would anyone need to persuade you that you’re ‘wrong’. There’s no right or wrong answer.

The player character is almost always conflicted, and part of their motivation would seem ‘evil’ to others (with some exceptions maybe). That’s as it should be. If there’s consensus in Sanctuary as to what the Biggest Evil This Month is, and the player character is recruited to help them fight it, that might seem clear-cut. “Good” enough, as far as you’re concerned. But I don’t think any of the Diablo games has been as tidy as that.

In D4 forum alone, you can find endless boring threads about relative-evils and part-time-evils, and good-disguised-as-evil, and so on. In the Rogue cinematic, the devs tried to show you a character motivated by coin, and by a sense of obligation to a onetime patron - who himself is probably a skeevy bastardo in priest garbs, who later (or someone like him) gets his comeuppance.

And what’s Lilith doing? Is she trying to corrupt us or save us? Save us from whom… the angel faction? If the angel army thinks we’re expendable, how do we know what’s “good”? What if we all fall under Mephisto’s spell instead of Lilith’s, and become flesh piles for his ritual altars? Our suffering would have ended - is that “good”?

Whenever I play, I stop attacking mobs when a deer wanders into frame. Have you counted recently how many innocent Bambis you’ve killed? You’re not as good as you think, fragile pilgrim.
