Enter Dungeon with groups

Maybe I missed it, but there needs to be a party finder at the entrance of dungeons. Going alone is fun, but sometimes I want to group up. Diablo Immortal has something like this but with stupid restrictions.

Just invite friends and clan mates, they can tp to you at any point, even if you’re in a dungeon solo

that would be useful to have esp for the end game

They covered it 4 years ago.

“So, to start with, the shared world concept doesn’t affect dungeons. Dungeons continue to be private from start to finish, supporting you and optionally up to 3 other players — which is our maximum party size; and what about the campaign then, because the campaign storyline is of course going to send you all around the continent, into these private dungeons, but also to parts of the open world.”

Its nice to have normal type dungeons but adding in a few open dungeon types like in The Elder Scrolls where its open to all to enter and you’ll see players running in and out would be a nice change also. Maybe one per zone or something. Could limit it to one kill a day per player/toon and make it so you couldn’t farm it over and over.

It just feels like D4 was made for loners who dont really have any friends lol, partying up for anything is just optional you just show up and tackle content with anyone who happens to be there if there are any. I dont think a game like that is really my cup of tea, I like playing games that encourages players to team up and tackle content, I hope going forward D4 can be more multiplayer-friendly with more group play content. Would be nice to see quests being shareable.

All that means is that you won’t bump into randoms inside a dungeon.

They said you could group with up to 3 other players to do a dungeon, so there is nothing in that statement that would stop them from putting a party finder/matchmaker at the entrance of a dungeon. Once your party is formed, those are the only players who would be in the dungeon with you.

Of course, they should also have an option to opt out of the party finder/matchmaker and enter the dungeon alone, because it’s fun to solo a dungeon too sometimes.

I really hope they add this to the final game.

Easy-to-use Dungeon LFG tools should be included. This is a staple of every modern MMO game.

That was one thing Lost Ark did right- the group/opt-out interface at the beginning of Dungeons.

Made for folks without friends? That statement reads like a teenager bragging that they have more friends than someone. Its an online shared world game. Its easy enough to use the in game chat to ask for help with a dungeon to find a group to play with. There are Discord servers that will pop up everywhere for LFG. People who dont have friends who play this game specifically will still be able to find folks to play with requiring minimal effort on their part.

If dungeons were actually difficult and required player knowledge and boss mechanic know-how, I could see the actually need for LFG outside of dungeons like in MMOs. Diablo is simply a skill spamming, button mashing, kill fest. Better with friends imo, but not required to experience the content.

“You might think that means your campaign moments in the open world are now going to be shared with a bunch of random people; but campaign areas will also start as private — meaning accessible only to you and your party.”

That’s actually not true. I did group with a random for a dungeon.

By coincidence, I saw someone about to enter the same dungeon as me. I asked if he was going to do the dungeon and whether he wanted to group up, he said yes. We grouped up using the radial menu, and did the dungeon together, all without adding each other as friends or joining a clan.

But that was the one and only time that I did a dungeon in a group in the beta; I’d like it if I could have done it more.

Every time I saw others at the entry I thought they would follow me in but I was always alone just like they said.

Ya, you have to be in a party, but the party does not have to be clan members and friends. You can form a party with anyone using the radial menu. If you don’t do this, you will be alone in the dungeon.

What I’d like to see is tools to make forming such a party easier rather than having to hope to see a random at the right place and the right time.

I mean I agree with what your saying, I think i was just ranting and going off topic lol, I think what I’m really hoping for is for main and side quests to be shareable, would be nice to go thru Acts with buddies, unless you can and I just didnt see it? I just want a better group play expereience.

No there doesn’t. Make friends and invite them to go with you. If you feel strongly about doing dungeons, there is nothing stopping you from making friends in the game and asking them to join you. Pass by a random other player heading to the same dungeon and invite them to group up. It may not always work but it will probably work 50% of the time.

It does encourage group play. You get XP buff when playing with others. That buff is doubled if they are in your party.

Plus builds compliment each other. My buddy played a build that was great at inflicting Vulnerable, so I made my build take advantage of that. I imagine things like this will be even better with late game builds, paragons and gear.

I think that XP buff became useless after hitting level 25 in beta lol, but i get what you mean.

I hope it gets better too :slightly_smiling_face:

Then dont use it and find a party your way.

The game definitely needs a group finder. I was honestly shocked it didn’t have one. You should be able to queue for specific dungeons or any random dungeon that you have discovered the entrance to. With the level scaling in the game it wouldn’t even have to find people in your specific level range.
