"Enhanced Vision: Advocating for a Larger Field of View in Diablo 4"

1: Field of View (FOV) Adjustment: A significant concern in Diablo 4 is the limited field of view, making it difficult to anticipate enemy attacks that occur outside the screen view.

2: Zoomed-In Camera Issues: The current zoomed-in camera angle limits visibility, leading to instances where enemies attack from beyond the visible area, impacting gameplay and creating frustrating situations.

3: Request for a Larger FOV Slider: A substantial increase in the FOV slider would greatly enhance player awareness, allowing for better strategic planning and reducing unexpected attacks from off-screen enemies.

Adding a more extensive FOV slider is crucial for overall gameplay quality, ensuring a smoother and less frustrating experience by providing players with better visibility and control over their surroundings.

They said there are limitations on FOV due to cross platform.

Just like they said there were limitations with stash tabs…

we’re in 2023 not 2004 anymore, their limitations is bad design choice.

stash tabs is stupidly build as well as you literally load in everyones stashtabs whenever they open them, creating memory leaks.

that doesn’t sound like bad design to you? lol

Yes , please. I feel the same.

“Cross platform” is a poor excuse ~

Zoom the PC player in to the same field of view as the console players when inside PvP zones

Let the PC players zoom out elsewhere

The cross platform concerns are taken care of ^^;

yaknow actually fun fact, worldboss field of vieuw when he spawns is increased, also there is 1 statue on the map standing in front of it increases the FOV as well

:raised_hands: so its 100% possible in the game, they should just add a slider completely and give us the freedom

is it me or did you basically repeat the same thing 3 times and just use different wording?

Cross platform multiplayer is actually a really good excuse for how things are. Not just a PvP problem, either. If you had a PC player in a group with consolers, and the PC player can see 50% further, it creates all sorts of tactical problems for the group and leads to a bad experience for both types of players.

Ok, well then just lock the FoV when in group play w/ consolers, right? That would end up creating console vs. PC whining, which is just exactly what the world needs more of.

IMO they should have left cross platform multiplayer out, but kept cross progression. If people want to play on console, fine, and you should even be able to play your PC character on console, with other console players. Cross play is what makes things suck, and is almost always a net negative for PC gamers.

The insistence of cross-play/cross-platform with this game is one of the major downfalls to its overall design. It is a nice idea, but ultimately doesn’t work out well.

World boss zoom is with several players but only a single mob, the boss. I think that gives a lot of freedom. But it conflicts with that we are zoomed out, riding.

I’d take a 10-15% slight zoom out. Ideally I’d like a 20-25% zoom out. Or that’s my crude estimate, I don’t actually know how much that would affect the experience.

Exactly not to mention the huge ping spike

I don’t see the negative impact. It’s like saying someone with a touchpad instead of a mouse has a worse experience. That’s choice.

Then why care about this conversation at all, if view distance has no impact, positive or negative? Are you really telling me you can’t see the tactical advantage gained by one player being able to see things another player cannot see? PvE, PvP, doesn’t matter: If one player can see things another cannot due to the system they’re playing on, people who play on that system are being given an advantage. Does that really even need to be said?

I am not surprised this is a whole forum post. I got this on gamepass and the FOV is so bad I can’t play it. Very disappointing; it really seems to hate this screen in particular.

imagine necroing a thread about an issue that gets solved in s4.

It’s getting fixed in season 4 is it? do you have a source for that?

I also find the FOV absolutely horrendous, Diablo 2 Resurrected’s FOV is so much better. So much so that I prefer to play that now.

If they could make the FOV the same as when riding the horse or as D2R, the game would actually be playable for me! I refused to play POE because of this zoomed in FOV issue, it actually gives me a headache.
It looks like PEOII dev’s have got the FOV right this time and that in my opinion has the potential to make playing Diablo IV a pointless non event.

Every RPG I’ve played over the last 20+ years, that I have invested countless hours in has been because the FOV was right and or I was able to find a FOV camera mod.
Titan Quest, Sacred 1 and 2, the Divinity Series, Silverfall, Torchlight, Dungeon Siege II, Grim Dawn, Nox and the list goes on. A few of these games had camera rotation as well.

A fixed, overly zoomed in Isometric view in this day and age is just plain and simple lazy development.

Great thing this will never be heavily pvp focused which makes your entire point moot.

I am tired of crossplatform in general.
Its not like integrated aimbot is not enough. Now our game is somehow limited bcs console peasant. I don´t mind to never play with some consolist.

Just for that Manfred bought 10 PS5s.

Was in the March Campfire, and it’s currently working in the PTR. It’s nearly if not exactly identical to zoom out you get when riding a horse, it’s just permanent instead, but you can toggle the option for Standard and Far. Standard being what we have now, Far being the new zoom out.
