I get why they do it. To get rid of the feeling you can only farm in certain areas and party play might feel better. But holy crap I don’t feel like I’m ever getting stronger. Everytime I gain a level I get excited but then quickly realize it feels the same as last level. I feel like they could have left scaling off in the story mode or whatever it’s called.
I don’t mind the scaling of enemies to meet your level, but there certainly needs to be some sort of power gain for leveling. Increased stats, increased damage, something. I feel the same at level 20 as I did at level 10.
I feel weaker at 25 in all legos an rares than I did at 10 with blues.
Think that likely comes at 100. But you still should feel a boost to your power for a few minutes once you level. Maybe keep the mobs from leveling with you for a few minutes.
Just like D3, levels don’t mean much in D4. It’s all about what items you have.
This is incorrect. Level 5 with white items is more powerful than level 25 with legendary items.
The scaling is just too rough.
Scaling does feel bad. Legendary items seem as useless as they did in D3 which is a contributing factor. If legendary items didn’t suck so bad you wouldn’t feel weak at level 25.
I am strongly considering canceling my pre-order based on the items alone. The beta has been a boring experience and the items (Loot) are a major contributing factor.
The scaling feels awful. Never feels like I can keep up. Honestly felt more powerful at a lower level then I do at 25.
I recommend reporting your comments in the in-game “report bug” feature so they can hear your concerns.
If that were true than I should feel much more powerful with gear full of legendarys than I did with blues at a lower level.
the scaling is just awful, every time i level up i feel weaker and weaker.
it’s rather painful tbh.
100% agree.
The more i level up, less powerful i feel.
My lvl25 lightning sorc equipped in all legendary gear. Have quite nice synergy with all light skills.
Yet every lvl 25 monster takes same damage, same kill time as i did at lvl 10.
Ready to hang up my adventuring gloves. It’s awful. If there’s no word on them fixing this, I will have to ask for a refund because it’s unplayable.
´frfr it does feel bad
I wish I only felt neutral. My Barb has felt less powerful from every level since 9 onwards (I’m 16 now.) I’m also at the point where I’ve decided all I want is a way to get 4 more levels without seeing another boss. I don’t play this style of game to wipe repeatedly to progress the basic campaign quest.
I played through the game twice now. The first play through I did all the quests and killed every monster I encountered including side dungeons and the world boss. I hit 25 and had all legendary gear that was upgraded and socketed before finishing the story. The entire time I felt as though I was getting weaker and weaker, despite upgrading gear and getting new skills. Once I realized the monsters were scaling with me, I nearly quit and demanded a refund immediately. I decided to finish it up and play through again. The first playthrough took me several multiple hour sessions over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The second playthrough I decided I would ignore every side quest and bypass every monster I didnt need to kill. I eventually decided that I would kill monsters in dungeons since some zones had minimum level monsters (This didnt seem to matter since I was still smashing them a couple levels behind.) In the end I finished the last boss in the act at level 11 and it was super easy despite me wearing mostly blue gear with 2 yellow items and a couple white with no upgrades or sockets. Also, the last boss was level 11 instead of the minumum 12 I thought it was supposed to be based on the last time I saw a minumum level. This playthrough took me lass than 2 hours total.
This feels extremely bad and is honestly just a lazy way to deal with open world monsters. A wolf should be X level… ALL the time, and it certainly should never be the same strength (Or in the case of my 25 vs my 11 stronger!!) as the abomination I am fighting as a boss at the end of the act.
100% agree!
To make the enemy’s stronger, we should access the same area with a higher difficulty.
Always worked well with former hack&slash.
Let’s see how it will be adjusted until release.
Scaling has never worked as well in an rpg as not having it in my opinion. It sounds like they have both gear and lvl scaling in this which will make it even worse…not to mention making no sense. I hope they figure it out better and severely limit it.
I think the big question is…do mobs scale to your lvl or to your gear. One is doable the other is complete crap.
If you’re complaining about scaling now, the game won’t be for you because you’re gonna hate world tier3+ even more.
What class are you playing? I started Barb but quickly learned he was hitting people with pillows. Now, my Sorc at level 22 definitely feels much better than it did at lower levels. Granted, i also have like 4 legendaries equipped now.
