Endgame - Its quantity over quality and it should definatly change

So am am now in S8 and i am lv 60 since yesterday. I enjoy the game atm but i have to say while i enjoy the looting and exploring in the open world, the char progression is realy tedious and spread out on so many endgame activities it drives me Nuts.

So what do we have
Helltides 2/10
Whispers 3/10
Pit 1/10
NMD 6/10
Hordes 4/10
Bosses 1/10
Worldbosses/Legion 0/10
Undercity 0/10
Dark Citadel 0/10
Season event 0/10

In order to progress your char you are more or less forced to do most of these.

WHICH IS TERRIBLE… Play as you like…

Pls do not add anymore Endgame activities and rework the living :poop: out of those we have.

I suggest to put Helltides and Hordes into 1 activitie.
Instead of having a red place to farm chests why not make the helltide what it was actualy supposed to be… an Invasion.

Place 3 Portals around big Cities like Kyovashad. Let em spawn a constant stream of monstern running Towards the cities. Make a baricade of soldiers defending.
Now you have to defend the City gates with them and at the same time close the Portals. People would have to work together to get the event done. Some defend the town. Some go to close the portals. Inside a Portal you do the ā€œHordeā€ mode. When you win the portal shuts down. The reward comes at the end from the city you saved, the better the outcome the bestter the rewards.

Legions are bad. Just get rid of these. World bosses should be reworked entirely to be an actual thread and worth doing.

Whispers should dissapear. Just make all these obectives spawn randomly in the Open world. When you do one of em you get a ā€œtrophyā€. Bring it to the tree to get a reward. No more looking at the map to go to a certain location. Just explore naturaly.

Normal dungeons should dissapear on T1 and be automaticly transferred into NMDs. Obcucite should be abailable everywhere even as a drop from normal rare mobs in the open world.

Boss mats should be gone entirely. Give the bosses the proper ā€œdungeonā€ where they just wait at the end to fight you in an epic showdown. Why the hell do we summon these guys. It’s plain dumb. We are supposed to cleanse the world from em, not summoning them to be a pinata. Do you guys care zero for Lore and Storytelling?

And last but not least

BALANCE THE GAME ALREADY!!! :point_left:

Constrastingly, many posts are claiming ā€œDiablo has no endgame!ā€ while you’re begging for less endgame.

When an activitie is bad you can absolutly argue that it is non existent.

It’s like a local cinema having 10 bad movies running. You can absolutly say ā€œThere is no movie at the cinema to watchā€ which translate to no movie worthwhile and not to literaly no movie. And i guess that is what people wanna express.

Obviously there is a lot of Endgame in Diablo but if nothing of it is worthwhile…

the thing is smashing another 3 boring half bakced activities on top of these will not be a solution.

I agree entirely with the OP & think these ideas would go a good way towards mitigating the grind.

Added request: open up more content to glyph leveling.

yea absolutly. You should allways have a choice in what activities you wanna do.

I think they should make vertain activities to drop more from this and that so people can target farm if they feel the need. But those who rather like to roam the world should also be able to get the stuff done. I don’t like running through dungeons all the time. Open world is much more engaging. But i have to in order to do glyphs and mastercrafting.

That is why i was rolling my eyes when adam jackson explained that people would allways do the most efficient stuff and therefore it is not worth it to have several things do the same.

that is plain wrong. Yes there are people allways targeting the most efficient thing. But there are also people who just do what is most fun.

Hard ā€œNopeā€ on more forced multiplayer stuff in this game. Please stop trying to turn this ARPG into an MMO. You want to play WoW, play WoW.

Sorry but… what are you exploring in the first place, in order to randomly bump into these events? (And not just near cities, where the invasion events you mention would be happening… but out in the open areas.)

al that is listed is not end-game , are FARMING activities. somobody hopefully will understand this at a moment… … … end-game is the activity where players do not go with loot/progress in mind, but to SHOW the already hard farmed and done build. e.g.:

  • when pushing leaderbaords in D# I do not care about loot, only care a bout proving my build is capable. the same, when enter party to push leaderbaords in D3 did not care about loot/progress, but only prooving to party member I can stand for that grift level…
  • when did PvP in DIablo Immortal I did not care about loot/progress, but only to perform very well so my team to win

end-game is not farming activities!
end-game is not farming activities!
end-game is not farming activities!
end-game is not farming activities!
end-game is not farming activities!

Nah. :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s probably no universal meaning. The one Diablo players are most accustomed to is: everything after the campaign. So… that’s the minimal definition, it is what it is.

Case in point: you allude to D:Immortal & to leaderboards. D4 is D4, and has no leaderboards. :stuck_out_tongue: It has nothing to ā€˜prove’. Does that mean it has no endgame? Debatable if it does or doesn’t… but that wouldn’t be the reason.

Finally, aside from the players - the devs have referred to it (the list of activities) as endgame. So in D4 at least, endgame is ā€œeverything past the campaignā€. Just like its (legitimate) predecessors (the ones that aren’t reskinned NetEase properties).

This is like saying doing maps in POE is not end game content. Couldn’t be further from the truth. Part of the endgame is running content to min maxing your build.

Another part of the endgame is having a place where you can test your build for example pit tier 100+ or a juiced up uber boss.

Both pieces make up an end game.

Blizz have been defining endgame as what you access on reaching Torment and progressing through the tiers.

Quantity can be fine, look at POE1 and even Torchlight Infinite. The problem is that D4 doesn’t offer good enough rewards for what’s there. And frankly most of them lack creativity or depth.

I like that, but maybe people are randomly sucked into the hell portals over the hour so everyone gets a turn. Fight 5 wave or something and then close that portal.

do you play the campaign each season or?
Campaign in these days aRPGs is just training.

I believe they are improving upon nightmare dungeons next season and improving on infernal hordes the following season.

Endgame is me sitting on Belial lol and no other boss matters

Sorry i am not doing that. Blizzard is doing that. There is now way to avoid the MMO part of D4 as that is what Blizz wants, but i can at least make sugestions in how to improve that part

D4 features all the ā€œnegativitiesā€ of the MMO characteristics and basicly non of the positiv stuff.

Also you could totaly make this mode without any interaction at all. Just make a small UI that shows how many people are at what gate or outside and you can conclude on your own where you are needed without ever talking to anyone.

you go around and kill mobs. the same you do now just that you can collect obucite there and do whispers while exploring the beatiful map. I myself enjoy the opwn world much more then the generic dungeons all day. I want snowy mountains i go there, i want a desert i go there, i want a swamp i go there. That is the strengh of an large open world and the thing Blizz is kinda abandoning for whatever god aweful reason.

Forced is a stretch but each activity has a purpose. Mind you, at a point your only doing GR/Pit because its best best place to farm xp.

This we can agree upon. Metas need to go away. There shouldnt be builds that outperform others by 10000%

i dont agree with quite some of your points, but thats fine (mostly the whole ā€œprogression is tediousā€ vibe. I mean, the season is a little longer than s7 lol. It certainly should be more tedious in my opinion) - However i certainly agree with this quote.

D4 does have quite a bunch of different activities, which sadly dont really receive regular updates.

On a side note, the Dark citadel chest suprised me this season. Done it with a friend cause he was curious, and now we do it weekly. The reward chest is pretty generous with their GA items ^^

Ya there is obviously a lot of stuff you can do. Helltidces realy bother me.

Back then they introduced em as an invasion of demons. A high risk reward endgame avtivity.

Aside from the balancing that never made thisy feel ā€œhigh riskā€ i totaly do not feel the ā€œinvasionā€ part. It’s more like a flea market. The demons come to a designated place. All kinds of demons and they brought all there old belongings with them in nice chests. People can walk around and gather ā€œEmberā€ to buy stuff.

Why are there chest? Why do the demons bring em? What are they invading? they just walk around aimless like every other enemy.

I realy hate the lack of ā€œcoherentā€ worldbuilding. The same for the random mini events.

Oh a lost soul wandering around. I wonder what… ah ya, waves of demons spawn.
Oh a blood tribunal asks for a sacrifice. I wonder what… ah ya, waves of demons spawn.
Oh a large piece of ore to grind… i wonder what… ah ya, waves of demons spawn.
Oh my mercs wants to ā€œhuntā€ with me. I wonder what… ah ya, waves of demons spawn.
Oh a Demon queen collects souls. I wonder what… ah ya, waves of demons spawn.
Oh some cicilians in danger. I wonder what…ah ya, waves of demons spawn.
Oh a nice golden Chest to open. I wonder what…ah ya, waves of demons spawn.

The creative void is depressing.
