Endgame ideas - Dimensional Codex System

When I’m bored I brainstorm with the help of AI. Here’s an idea we came up with;

Dimensional Codex System
• There are 7 lost books, each tied to a unique theme and lore (e.g., demonology, ancient magic, forbidden history).
• Each book has 100 pages, scattered across Sanctuary, found via:
• World events
• Hidden boss drops
• Rare enemy spawns
• Secret rooms in dungeons
• Riddle-based puzzles
• Once all pages are collected, the book is completed and opens a portal to a Dimensional Dungeon.

The Dimensional Dungeons

Each Dimensional Dungeon is a 50-floor descent, with increasing difficulty, unique enemies, and environmental hazards.
• Each book’s dungeon is themed around its lore (e.g., a book on necromancy leads to a dungeon filled with the restless dead, a book on angels leads to an eerie, abandoned heaven-like realm).
• The player can’t leave until they reach the final floor or use a rare escape item.
• Randomized layouts and challenges keep each run unpredictable.

Final Floor & Reward System

At the bottom of each dungeon, players find:
• A unique, legendary treasure chest, which may contain:
• Exclusive weapons, armor, or magic items tied to the book’s theme.
• Powerful relics that grant permanent bonuses.
• Secret knowledge unlocking additional lore or hidden locations in Sanctuary.
• Defeating the dungeon’s final guardian may also provide:
• A title or cosmetic reward proving mastery.
• A unique mount or pet symbolizing the dungeon’s completion.

Extra Challenges & Mechanics
• Cursed Pages: Some pages may be corrupted, requiring a special ritual to cleanse them before they can be used.
• Ethereal Shards: Inside the dungeons, players collect shards to unlock temporary buffs or abilities to help them descend further.
• Dimensional Anomalies: Unstable rifts that appear randomly, offering secret passages, treasure rooms, or extra bosses.

You cant design stuff like this. Auto no as soon as I seen this.

A prison of endless possibilities only works in the what if series.

That’s the problem with most young players; they’re afraid of challenges

You cant trap players in content. Have you ever seen something like this in any ARPG ever?

Here’s my problem with this

  • Why so exclusive to endgame ?

Why have no “side game” in the game itself starting from say lvl15 or 25, or even lvl10 (get the first page and get a cursed event) ?

See the problem ?, any time people think of something “dialed up to 15”, just dial it down to 10 and let it be available for gameplay earlier

The game is too small to accommodate this.

Maybe in a massive MMO world it would be a good idea… or in a Ubisoft game.

Now, you have to think about how the player is going to play or experience this.

Almost no one will complete all 100 pages by pure luck. They’ll have to use guides to find them all in the first place.

You have to think about whether using guides from external sites is actually a good gaming experience.

And if you put the locations in the game/map, you end up like a Ubisoft game… that’s why I mentioned it at the beginning.
