They removed angelbreaths from enchanting as people found it was a bottleneck for rerolling an affix. Now it costs 15 legendary mats to enchant once…This is way worse than it was with angelbreaths. How could they honestly think a harder to obtain mat in larger quantities was a solution? I seriously don’t understand some of the decisions Blizzard makes. It’s baffling.

But you dont need to farm a herb anymore. Loot rains from the sky, doesnt sound like a roadblock but you still need to salvage garbage legendaries.
It may feel like a roadblock since xp gains were increased quite abit.

As much as people might think otherwise, there is a problem with the costs. I’d rather have the old setup than the current one to be honest, because I could get angelbreath far, far faster than the correct legendary items to salvage (remember, it is still per type, and not a unified currency). I’ve been able to reroll a grand total of about ten times across items and I’m LV 51. While angelbreath was a bottleneck early on if you were trying to reroll sacred items, I’m talking about just normal items here.
The costs vs. what we get are way out of line. And it looks like they broke or regressed the scaling enchanting costs with regard to gold, because it ramps up really fast compared to even S4 where it ramped up faster than before but stopped at some point.
I really don’t get how the devs here keep screwing up one of the most basic systems in the game every time they change it. I know stuff comes in a lot slower at lower levels, but the costs are just ludicrous for what you get for material income. It just majorly sucks and does not feel good at all when it’s famine until endgame. Making the journey suck makes me want to just say screw it. And I have a good number of very good games in my backlog.
The costs need to be lowered, plain and simple. Loot can’t be increased because that then breaks the progression/loot hunt cycle. We don’t get legendaries at the same pace we got angelbreath before and the amount of these items we use went too far up.
Oh, and unless you get a nice boost to WT3 from someone, WT2’s legion events still suck too. They still only give one item per chest, no obols, no prisms, nada. How that didn’t even get a glance from the devs during the PTR phase or any time since, oh, the beginning of season 4 I have no clue.
It was a mistake to go away from the original design tbh.

Yes I rolled a few times and I’m out. It’s ridiculous. Game’s too punishing. I understand end end end game stuff to be expensive but rolling an affix on a legendary shouldn’t be that expensive. It is very discouraging.
Diablo 4, nor Diablo 3, were never about the leveling, like Diablo 2.
Its about end-game.
9 hours to get to max level , aka 2 days for a normal players, or 4-5 days for a causal is very decent since everything happens at max level.
But you can get mats from infernal hordes. Only did tier 2 and got very very few but i can imagine that tier 6 to 8 it will be far better? Can someone confirm?

Agree. There is no endgame. Endgame is for how long you are willing to keep playing to try to get better gear. Sure, it’s been enough to keep me playing so far but I wouldn’t mind spending more time levelling. Nothing special happens when you max your build.

Was refreshing in early Season 4 when some people thought there was a lack of gold. Should always be like that.
Never run out of Angelbreath, finished the season with close to 10k. Never understood the complaints from other players. I guess it was a problem for many otherwise Blizz wouldn’t have made the change. The other enchanting mats have been a more serious issue for me. Had to sell most of the items I collected to get gold and didn’t salvage enough. You also need gold to enchant, sometimes a lot when trying to get +Skill affixes. I am not especially happy either to learn that the cost has been increased.
Well I hope there is some gold income bcs most of my gold in S4 was from SELLING legs…
