🗃 Easy solution how to fix the stash tab problem

True…the Core issue would still be the performance issue and they would have to fix it anyway.

But till then it would give us players a lil bit room to breathe and tbh it wouldn’t even be bad as an permanent solution for the sake of the item overview for every individual character.

Ofc the main problem would reamin but I think from the loading capacity it wouldn’t make that much difference if the game loads 5 shared stash tabs or 1 shared + 4 personal till they fix the problem.

But it would make a big difference for us players who like to play more than just 1 class, at least till they fix the bad coding.

Who ever thought it was a good idea to want everyone to create multiple characters and only have 4 shared stash tabs needs to be fired. In fact, they even stated they don’t want you to respec at high levels but make a new character (which is even more idiotic).

Oh my man, if you only realized how little data, stash space actually takes up.

Are you suggesting to increase 1 tab and add 3 more?
It doesn’t solve the problem. The problem doesn’t come from the number of caches, it comes from the items in them.
The only way to solve the problem is to unify and optimize the code of items. Less write - less memory required.
Third parties can solve the problem, but then they will have to open part of the game code. And access to this part - the possibility of hacking. So let them solve the problem themselves.
PS. I saw some of these codes due to localization errors. They are not really optimal.

Sry I’m not a developer, it’s not my job to know such things…I know some basics but thats it.

I don’t know how the engine of D4 works but I can’t imagine that 1 shared a 4 personal tabs would make that much difference loading capacity vise than 5 shared as we will have soon.

At the end of the day the game has to load 5 tabs and it’s stored items in both situations…but 1 solution is more conveniant for players who like to play more than just 1 class.

Nah, I suggest to give us 1 shared and 3 personal stash tabs instead of 4 shared till they fix the problem.

With personal tabs every character would have 3 personal tabs for items, so it’s not that annoying in term of storrage space to play multiple classes as with 4 shared tabs.

It’s not a suggestion how to fix the performance problem bcs noone of us know how the code of the D4 engine exactly works.

No, he is suggesting we stay with the same amount, but only 1 of them is shared across your characters, while the others are private to each character

To anyone you encounter, you would have the same amount, but when you create a second character, all of the stash tabs except the shared one would be free

Exactly…now after few days with the 5th “shared tab” we all can agree that personal are not only a temporary solution.

Personal stash tabs for every character should be mandatory…I’ve created an second char now and my gaming experiance is beyond horrible, mainly because of the lack of stash space.

Of course the question is whether it is possible to set stash tabs to private per character at all. As per the game’s underlying coding.

While my knowledge on this is limited too, I kind of fear that for, in order for the inventory system (and consequentially the game’s stability) to be on par with what should be expected to be feasible in an MM-ARPG (hybrid) in the year 2023, the engine would need an entire rework.
I know just about enough about how costly and time-consuming that is… So my hopes are kind of low.

These are things that should’ve been dealt with pre-alpha. Obviously they did not consider it to be a priority.

There is something I’m afraid for & knowing how B.Kotick operates it wouldn’t even be all that far-fetched.

Now please keep in mind this is purely a hypothesis!

The priority would likely be likely thus;
- Make the game look as good as possible.
- Bring the game out as fast as possible.

*Cash in → keep people engaged as long as possible while selling them extra cosmetics and BP’s (also cosmetics) *

in order to keep some short term engagement.
- Promise improvements further down the road. Make lots of small-sized improvements, but keep postponing the ones that are technically too difficult for this game to handle.
- Slow down ingame progress by any means necessary.
- State how you are already working on 2 full-fledged expansions to create the feeling (or illusion) that the company is dedicated to this project.

Cut funding when revenue/time expectations become too low & abandon the project stating too low player interest.

Diablo 4 aka Anthem 2.0 successful.

EDIT: Felt like i needed to add something here. If B.Kotick were to actually pull something like this, you can be 99% sure that the developers themselves will not have seen it coming.

As ridiculous as it sounds, it’s not an unthinkable scenario.

I really hope they will actually stick with making the expansions and trying to improve the game though. But I have sincere doubts that very meaningful changes will be made to the engine/coding.

You can have 1 million stash tabs in POE and it doesnt lag the game out.

Even WoW team states the issue has been resolved 15 years ago.

Solve performance issues, list tabs in MTX good to go. Players will buy it according to needs, hoarders & no lifers buy more and the opposites will buy less. Unless people think stash tabs are p2w items…

Ye I doubt too.

But we’ll see, maybe Blizzard will suprise us and fix all the problems within the next 2-3 leagues, rework items to be interesting and pack the game with good (endgame) content at the same time…even if the chances are higher to drop 2 “Harlequin Crest” from the same Elite pack.

For the cheap prize of $19,99 per tab…Performance problem would be solved within 1 minute. ^^

And that’s how you know this must really be rooted deep in the engine & code. Cause that alone would be enough motivation to make more stash work asap.

Also knowing their pricing practices by now; it would look more akin to something like 2900 Platinum. You know why.

there’s tons and tons of topics asking just that, i also myself asked that multiple times through posts, but sadly…the result is no answer.

If there was any gear worth keeping then we’d need more stash tabs. Until then I don’t need anymore stash tabs as 99% of the stuff picked up is converted into craft mats or sold.

That means giving away 3 free stash tabs per account character in the mind of a greedy game developer.
(30 stash tabs total)
Funny, time will tell how Activation Blizzard reveals themselves further.

I was under the assumption that stash is shared to also increase duplication detection so making stash personal would defeat that purpose

also people would just get more headaches and forum anger from putting good stuff in personal stash or running out of 1 page of trade stash and same time people angry that they get trade stash they dont need etc

This is why the coding for duplication detection would also need to be revamped…not holding my breath.

I’ve been suggesting this for 2 month.

just one of those obvious solutions that, somehow, devs couldn’t figure it out. (imagine the kind of devs they are)

Guess we all don’t play the game as intended…Maybe if we only use basic attacks all the time we don’t need more stash space.

Uninstall, problem solved
