Early game feels terrible

Every single class other than the Rogue feels horrible without legendaries. Full stop. The pace is way too slow and the drawn-out combat does not feel like its any more of a challenge other than it takes longer.

The lower drop rate forces sub-optimal builds. For instance, Bleeds are by far the best abilities without legendaries on Barb. But hey once you get a Lego it drops for Upheaval, well now you have to take Frenzy to get to 10 stacks to make it deal damage. The easiest fix for this would be for you to just delete all of the legendaries in the game and add them to the passive trees while having them only be unlocked once you put 5 points into a skill.

If I wanted to play POE Ruthless Solo Self-Found, I would go play that. Curbing any sense of fun or player power until late into the game is going to drive more people away than it will retain. Most of us actually have careers and life and don’t need some greater existential sense of self-worth to be derived from tedious monotonous grinds to get a character up to a level that feels like an entry class on all of the other ARPGs out right now. Especially when there is going to be a massive end-game grind and the legos you get at a low level will be worthless for defenses in 10 levels anyways.

Yes, slower combat is good, I don’t want this to degenerate into D3 rift zoom zoom spam or D2 lighting sorc teleport meme screen spam. It actually feels immersive this time around.

And I DEFINITELY don’t want to play PoE where it’s a giant moshpit of your character sprinting through millions of mobs and being literally unable to tell what’s happening on the screen due to the speed. The pacing in D4 is perfect.

That, and it will speed up around the end game most likely.

THAT. Over nerfed drop rates make the game unfun.

There is obviously a middle ground where they could shift some player power down in the leveling process while keeping the top end the same. I assume you are playing Sorc by your avatar so I don’t think your opinion holds much weight. Having a barbarian archetype that has to single target for 5-6 attacks to be able to use one AOE ability, or maybe two when you have a 24-sec cd up that just has to run in a circle until then in big packs or die is pretty stupid.

They aren’t lower drop rates they are normal drop rates that the game was always intended to be at. But it’s good cause we get to see how the game will be and Blizzard gets to see how we perform to maybe refine a bit more in two weeks.

Are they less than the last two betas?

Then they are lower than before. Semantics arguments are inherently pointless.

It feels fine. You just are used the the other beta which was a screw up on Blizzard’s part.

They should never have given us the higher drop rates. Now people are biased by that experience.

I can tell the class felt better with them than without, by a large margin. Like not even close. And that is the point. The game shouldn’t feel like a massive slog where its going to be easier to ignore content, beeline the main story for levels, and then come back and crush stuff later.

your opinion holds no weight because you’re a sorc

lmfao. No, I have a sorc avatar, currently I’m playing a 20 druid, the pacing is just fine. Sounds like a l2p or you issue, or just not knowing what you want or what’s a healthy pace for the game in general tbh. It’s not even remotely a “slog”, it simply feels normal and immersive - and no, you don’t need legendaries literally raining down from the sky. It’s a legendary, it’s MEANT to be rare.

Yet again.

It should definitely be a massive slog at first. You aren’t even a nephalim but some underpowered wimp. This is our story of rising to greatness once again and doing 10T damage.
