I normally play sorcs but I’m having some fun with a WW Twister barb as the season winds down and the damage from barb is hard for me to understand. The one that’s got me puzzled is tempering for Sandstorm (dust devils) offers two obvious damage increases… size (which apparently increases damage) and… well… damage. When I look at the build guides I see them use one weapon with size and another with damage which has me confused. I assumed one or the other would do more total damage. But is there some kind of weird combo thing where size + damage is greater then 2xsize or 2xdamage? And is the “optimal” one weapon with size, another with damage, and a third with “chance to cast twice”?
Priority is to get the size to the 100% cap. The damage is multiplicative. After that i would go for critical hit damage. Which is also important to cast Dust Devil twice.
The increased damage on Dust Devil is unfortunately only additive and doesn’t make that much difference.
Thanks much. Blizzard’s tool tips and character sheets are next to useless. And even the online guides leave a lot to be desired.
So while leveling can I apply “increase size” to more than one item and they’ll all contribute to the size increase? Or is it some weird diminishing return thing?
Increased Size is additive unlike Damage Reduction. If you have 60% on one item and 40% on another, that is 100%.
Size matters more. That’s what…
Size over dd %dmg
Mine after masterwork:
2 handed mace chance to cast twice = 99% chance
1 handed mace increase dust devil size = 63%
It goes 100% with fierce wind aspect on my 2 handed mace
The other weapons are ramaldani + grandpa
Thanks for all the replies… my WW Barbie is close to finishing the season quest line (only the purple loot box remains) and is level 95 now. Wow… what a difference stacking the right tempers makes. Those giant dust devils really are amazing.
