Dupe Question for Mod/Dev

Earlier today I spent a week plus worth of gold on an end game unique (4 GA). I thought it was suspicious that the person who did the trade with me was a level 1 character. Made me almost bail from the trade, but I had been looking for a few days for this item and he did not try to swap or anything so I did the trade.

While watching a stream tonight apparently there is a rumor that there may be a dupe bug out there. So my question is, do I lose this item if indeed it was a duped item?

If so, thats a big bummer :frowning:

Lvl 1 is probably common for trade mules I would assume. No idea on what items get caught in the dragnet, and how the dragnet is calibrated. Bump.

they wont reply to you, I’m sorry to say.

It was most likely an alt account. They don’t want you to know who they really are. You have good reason to worry about the item being a dupe. Most honest players don’t hide behind a level 1 alt from an alt account. Good luck though.

Never trade a level 1 ever. Biggest red flag there is.

If anything seems fishy, bail. I had a trade with a guy called “Humpty” and sitting in a chair next to the stash was an identical looking character called “Dumpty”. Both level 5. I noped out.

I think that in any case you shouldn’t loose your item, as you couldn’t know if it was duped or not, nor is this player business. This kind of issues are fundamentally technical and should be tackled by those who can.

If not, if they delete the item they should revert the operation before, so you get your gold back.

Server side they can track literally ALL trades for any item in the game so, technically, they could easily erase those items from game and give your gold back to you and many others since it’s not your fault if game is littered with duped items

Would blizz ever do this? Ofc not, but you’ll probably be fine, there’s a 90% chance they won’t even bother tracking duped items to begin with, they’ll (Maybe) just fix the bug and call it a day or do nothing at all

its more likely you get banned for buying and using a duped item. even if you were/are unaware of it being duped or not.

Its been said plenty of times on these forums: be cautious of trades with 4GA items. There’s a massive item dupe going on which stems from somewhere in 2023 and is yet to be fixed. What exactly this dupe entails i will not utter here, because I’m certain I’ll get a ban for that. But you can find out about it on the internet if you search a bit

Just in case… Dont try it yourself unless you want to be certain they ban you

My take away. Here I am playing the game for drops and you guys are buying 4GAs uniques with gold.

We are not the same.

This is why so many arguments erupt about the state of the game and why some people think it’s “too easy.”

Players are not supposed to be caruful about duped items when trading with another player. First of all there’s plenty of people who play the game and don’t even look at forums, second the fact that duped items even exist is ONLY blizz’s fault so there’s not even a remote reason why someone who just accidentaly got a duped item should face some punishment, not even just delete those items without refunding players
