Currently farming the renown system for the +4 paragon points had me running most dungeons in the game and oh dear, does it feel awful to do them all.
I cannot stress enough how the introduction of objectives inside dungeons makes them feel like a chore instead of fun. D4 turned out to be not about killing hordes of demons but to find X key in a hidden corner to open a door then destroy Y constructs and get Z bloodstones on the pedestals…
Honestly, does anyone find these kinds of objectives engaging and fun? Never mind that some dungeons do not even have a boss so the sense of finishing them is completely off. It was a big misstep on the devs account in my opinion.
I’d like to see some changes to dungeons, especially nightmare dungeons, to get rid of the objectives and just have us players kill enough monsters until the boss spawns, because for the love of Lilith, I’m really trying but I cannot bear doing more than a couple dungeons at a time then logging off out of boredom.

I agree that the repetitive objectives (and lack of mob density) make the dungeons feel like a chore instead of killing fun.
The worst is when you’re finally done finding all the prisoners or whatever, the door opens and… a new ‘find the 3 xx’ objective pops up… UGH

you dont have to run most of the dungeons to get to +4. Just do everything else.
really only dungeons I ran for each area was the ones that had a quest in it.
One of the main reasons im just not that into it anymore.
I wanted to enjoy them but yeah last night i got home from work and started a dungeon which had me mow down some mobs for Animus, then walk through the door and find two statues to interact with then move on…
I was tired, bored and a bit grumpy that ive been waiting for months for D4 only to have this experience. Its not fun. Im on the forums to see what everyone else is saying and im so glad im not the only person.

Becoz you played too much. You’ve been no-life-ing this game since its release. Have some rest. Life is not just all Diablo 4 or World of WarCraft. I understand they are very addicting and you reached that point.
Go have some sleep, get some break, enjoy other stuffs. Then come back.
Me, I am not on that point yet. Everytime I am on a dungeon, I am hooked. Tier 1 to 20 is telling myself how badazz I am on this game on Solo. Tier 21+ with a friend is like Ancestral Loots everywhere. And I get pumped. My friend too on PS4 is also pumped.

I’m lvl 65, I play less than 2h per day because the game bores me to death since the end of the campaign. If you do enjoy clicking on pedestals to open doors more power to you, but there are some people that do not.

I actualy think one reason they have put stuff you have to do in dungeons, is stop stop people from rushing to end boss and then repeat it again and again, one particular quest shows you that good, and that is the one where you have to kill all mobs in an area to continue.
I agree and I just don’t do them anymore unless I’m playing with a friend. They feel like they just aren’t worth the time investment.
The objectives inside dungeons feel like d3 bounties, and there’s a reason most players dreaded doing bounties in that game.

I skip the objectives in the dungeons. 100% pointless waste of time I have come to learn.
This argument is absolutely ridiculous.
A properly designed game should take thousands of hours before burnout. None of us are just automatically disliking the game because we’re burned out. There hasn’t been enough time for that yet, not for the hardcore gamer anyway.
If the hardcore gamers are feeling the pain already then this means the rest of the playerbase will get bored too soon enough.
At a minimum price of $70 I expect at least 700 hours of gameplay before I get bored. Tired yes, but bored? No.

I think I understand why Blizz did that. Many people were just skipping a bunch of stuffs and go straight with the Boss kill. It was like rush to Boss skip everything else, kill the Boss and repeat. That’s boring. Blizz wants you to clear some areas… Area 1, Area 2, Area 3 and so on then Boss. I prefer non-skips… maybe becoz those Ancestral Rares are precious to me as I only have Sacred Legendaries.
I dont get why they got rid of the filling up the bar progress in dungeons from D3 and replaced it with “slay all enemies” with a secret “horde” to finish if you skipped some mobs.
That bar filling to progress was perfect.

i feel like dungeons are relaxing and a nice break from the constant 100% helltides farming.
my nerves get tested more during an helltide because i dont let go until the timer is close.
dungeons… im chilling in there.
Things like hostage rescue, hit the button, kill the bloob etc should be bonuses in the dungeons that offer a bonus drop or exp.

What a ridiculously dumb response.
The op gives us the exact reasons why the design is bad… and this is your response. If I was going to defend blizzard, I’d at least try to argue about how it’s not a chore, not the thing that you typed.
Game should be about killing demons, not about doing manual labor without the existence of demons.

the fact that we HAVE to farm hell tide is really dumb those items that we need for crafting need to be bonus drops from other content.

I love the dungeons because it makes you suffer
They should make the current collect X thing to dispel the barrier be optional but if you do do it then it gives an xp/gear drop buff or something like that.
You can speed run dungeons if you want or clear all + objective to get a bonus.
It’s a win/win.

But he overplayed… got tired of it. All he needs is a break then come back.
Chore? If youre not having fun, why keep on playing? Leave. In his case, he doesnt need to leave. He just needs a break.
No, he wants soulless skipping everything and go straight to the Boss, get the Paragon rewards then repeat. But Blizz wants you to clear Area A, Area B then Area C and so on then on the Boss.
