Dungeons are a underwhelming

After playing through most dungeons, the map lay out is poor and not just poor but a bit insulting at times.

I logged back into Diablo 2 remastered and Diablo 3 to make comparisons. Diablo 3 is definitely more static as well which I didn’t care for at all.

Part of the charm of Diablo 2 is the procedural generation of general maps and dungeon. Every play through feels different and interesting because it promotes exploration which is the point of these games when looking for loot.

Playing Diablo 4, the dungeon choice is basically taken away with seemingly next to none or limited procedural generation of the dungeon. A choice there is either a forced choice like backtracking to grab a key or opening a second door that leads to the exact same room.

This is compounded by the fact the world is always static and I am not enjoying the MMO feel.

Yes it feels a bit static but in 2023 i am not as fascinated about “i had to go left before, now i have to go right”. Random events, boss and rare spawns, actually relevant changes, make it interesting for me. Hopefully they add enough of those, it was fun when the butcher randomly charged me in the middle of a dungeon.

Yeah and now I know why they didn’t give the min map over lay because the pathing is so simple it doesnt need it.

My main beef is that there isn’t even a chest at the end of most of the single or two room dungeons. Don’t expect legendaries but it would be nice to get some gold and maybe some resources.

I was expecting actual variety(and much of it) to suit the game’s identity. I’m hoping it was limited for the beta.
