I seriously thought necro was supposed to be the pet class?
I really wish blizzard would address the intent behind druids. Which direction are they being pushed?
I seriously don’t want druids to be a pet class. Id play a necro if I wanted pets.
Id rather druids were focused on Lightning based, Earth based, or maybe poison based builds? The natural elements would be ideal, but not this pet crap.
Thoughts?

I agree 1000x. When I saw almost all of our aspects were pet based it broke me, I really was expecting some stuff in there to help Tornado/Lightning Storm scale at end game since they took away Thunderstruck and by far our biggest aspect damage multiplier, but no. To me Druid pets should be mostly utility. We should be doing werewolf, werebear, caster type stuff mostly IMO.
I really enjoy pets on druid, and think they should be a viable option, and I am happy to see at least they added a good bit for wolves and general companions.
With that said, all these other builds should also be viable, sure there will always be one that’s on top. But there are so many potential builds, or abilities that are almost completely pointless. I think that’s what is causing the issue, not that a companion build is now viable, rather it’s so many other builds are not.

Strong points, I do not disagree with anything you said.
I disagree. In diablo 2 druid was definitely a pet class and I wish the developers would push in that direction for those that want to play pet builds. However the developers tend to focus on buffing werebear more than the other builds and I think werewolf poison and human lightning builds need some love.

are the pts on the ptr now also more aggressive or does this only affect the necro?
Totally agree with the OP.
Make a pet build viable but do not make the other builds reliant upon them. I want a lightning storm build that DOES NOT REQUIRE me to have all the pets to maximize.
I’m sure others do not want their non pet builds reliant upon pets to maximize damage either.

That’s it exactly. I am completely ok with a druid pet build. There is really nothing wrong with more ways to play a class.
I want decent viable lightning-based builds, or earth, or even poison, that do NOT rely on pets, pet aspects, pets on the bar, or anything pet in general.
All the current changes make the class sound even worse.
It would be great if they would address it, even once, on the forums. Not some generic empty statement during a campfire.
If they intend to make it a pet build class only, it would be nice to know, instead of constantly hoping for something good, and for it to fall flat every single season.
Every… single… season.

Well this patch did that sort of. They removed the Shepherds aspect for core skills but did not replace it with anything else. So yes it’s nice to not have to have pets in your build but your damage is down close to 50%.
To continue with my Lightning Storm build I had to go Landslide with natures fury. You would be disgusted to see how many lightning strikes and tornados are generated using landslide with natures fury.
Using Earthbreaker is the secret sauce that makes Stormslide, I hope the build remains intact and stronger in season 5.
Like a worse maurader build from D3 demon hunter.
Pets is one build they are focusing on. I love playing as a pets/Zoo Druid. Running around w/ Storm WW’s, smoking everything. I think what Blizzard are doing, is focusing on one thing at a time, so they don’t get overwhelmed in trying to fix well, the entire beta game as it is.
Pets sure seem to be the build they are focusing on, but it sounds like the one build that is the absolute least desired.
We have had 4 seasons of forced shepards, 3 pets on bar, no variety, etc
Blizz should introduce a 2nd, “passive” skill bar, where pets automatically use skills/abilities, and you can be freed up. My own desired build, is actual changes, from wolves to bears, the old different kinds of creepers you got in D2 (a poison/attack one, corpse eater for either resource or health), and finally, ravens seem to be the major pet I’d suggest needs this. I almost always run w/ the passive, extra ravens, anyways. Also possibly, you could add a “Golem” to the Druid, but different kinds of elementals? I’d love to see say, a wooden themed Nature Elemental stomping around, similar to Necro Golems.
