I was super excited to hear about the druid class as I’m kind of a hippie girl. Thought it sounded really cool, but feeling a little let down that all the female druids look like Rosie O’Donnell. 
No offense, but I get like beefy cause they morph into large animals. But how about Wolfsbane, or Ginger Snaps, or Wednesday’s friend? So many cute werewolves! Still love the game, gonna be a sorceress or maybe a barbarian. But really, how is a druid chonkier than barbarians!?
Edit: for the record my intention was not to body shame, there are a lot of beautiful big people out there. But these druids ain’t it.

I do find it funny the sheer size of the druids, especially the Male druid. When fully geared standing next to a barbarian the druid makes the barbarian look down right petite.

They are both descended from the same line; simply went 2 different paths. At least that’s what I’ve read.
Also, it’s funny that we’ve had so many of these ‘I want my druid able to wear skinny jeans’ threads but I haven’t found any ‘Make my necro morbidly obese’ ones. I want the Butcher to be giving me the side-eyes when he hears me order a diet coke.

OMG! You had me at Wolfsbane (New Mutants fan since the comicbook) … then you had me again at Ginger Snaps (or Ginger Snaps 2 or Ginger Snaps Back).
I plan to main a Werewolf Druid at launch … there is a Unique chestpiece, Mad Wolf’s Glee, which allows the Druid character to maintain the Werewolf form permanently.
Just throwin’ that out there.

In D4 lore the Druid lives off of donuts, cakes, ice cream, etc., and has diabetes.

I think they were trying to make a point on inclusivity. I think based on the overwhelming reaction of the community, that was a mistake. Turns out, even fat slobs don’t want to role play as a fat slob. So why would anyone then want to role play as a fat slob?
The reason nobody is arguing for a fat necromancer is because nobody wants to actually be fat in fantasy or in reality. I don’t know why Blizzard doesn’t get this.

I mean I’m all for inclusivity and don’t wanna body shame, but I feel the barbarian covers that, a big druid makes no sense. Druids would likely live in nature living off what they can gather, they would be more muscular than sorcerers, but still not large, and I don’t see them eating too many other animals as they are friends with most of them. Typically in fantasy druids are more Fae/ elven like.

Yup. However, relevant lore has definitely evolved over time with each new work introducing new (or completely ret-conning old) material. With this in mind, Diablo Wiki remains (IMO) the go to source for entertaining and informing background on almost every topic Diablo related.
Regarding the Druids, these comments on DW kinda stand out:
(1) Their Barbarian kin [i.e., the children of Bul-Kathos] (or at least the Henknoc Tribe) believe(d) that their ability to form bonds with animals is an ability latent to the Druids’ blood. However, throughout their history, the Druids have always fought back against an encroaching wilderness."
(2) " In the ancient tome of the Druids, the Scéal Fada , it is written that Bul-Kathos, the great and ancient king of the Barbarian tribes, had a mysterious but trusted confidant, who was only referred to as Fiacla-Géar. This man is sometimes described as Bul-Kathos’s close friend, and at other times, he is referred to as his brother."
And under the Fiacla-Géar, this enigmatic comment: “Fiacla-Géar was one of the Ancients; the first generation of nephalem in Sanctuary.”
So, go figure, but it should be kinda interesting to see where this bit of background leads the series.

Each class has a silhouette, and an avatar. You can customise the avatar a lot but not fundamentally change them. They are not meant to be you but the hero the artists designed. You can’t make a massive bear of a woman look like an elf. It would mess with PvP, cosmetics, hitboxes etc.
It’s like, you can’t pick superman in a marvel game and make him a slim blonde or a fat ginger. The specific hero has an aesthetic.
Druids are descended from the barbarians, so they are massive people. They are strong and powerful, so they have to look the part. This is why they have large frames, huge muscles and a wild look.
Hope that helps you embrace the vision they have for the character.

Because druids eat so much fat food and sugar out in the wilds. And they are very inactive as well so they don’t burn their fat away.

Yes, it’s fat. Your body fat percentage is very high.
Surely, as strong as he is, he couldn’t go out and run miles away and kill monsters. I wouldn’t have enough stamina.

Because if a “Fat” man can do it, and you cant, thats just pathetic.
Druid has a more accurate representation of how a legitimate strong person looks.
Movies have convinced people that having a 6 pack and a toned body means you’re strong.
One body type is for building muscle for aesthetic purposes, the other is building muscle for legitimate strength.
